A message to the world!
Thank you for trying my Add-on! Its still in the Beta stages and am working on a large redesign of the interface panels themselves! Please let me know in the comments any ideas you might have or any bugs or inconveniences you might find. See you in Forever!
Hidden Beauty – Forever
Unlock the hidden graphics and camera settings of WoW: Forever. Longer view distance, denser grass, better shadows and more, as simple sliders with plain names in the Options menu.
World of Warcraft: Forever runs on Blizzard's modern engine, and it can look a lot better than the Options menu allows. Many of the best settings are only reachable by typing `/console` commands. **Hidden Beauty** puts them in the game's own **Options > Graphics** menu and a handy quick menu, as friendly sliders and checkboxes with plain names, and remembers your choices. No commands needed.
Features
**Hidden settings**
63 options in tidy, collapsible sections, sorted by how much you'll notice them: view distance and pop-in, shadows and lighting, textures, grass and ground clutter, water, particles and effects, rendering and screenshots, and camera zoom and field of view.
**Plain names**
Settings say what they do, with the technical term in brackets where it helps, like *Terrain draw distance*, *Ambient shadows (SSAO)* and *Realistic water (PBR)*.
**See the actual numbers**
Every slider shows its value (with units such as yards or degrees where known). Type an exact value and press Enter, press Tab or just click away. Tab and Shift-Tab jump between boxes.
**Safe by design**
Values stay within tested ranges, and nothing is ever written past a fixed hard cap. That holds for presets, profiles and typed values. Settings your client doesn't have are simply hidden, and nothing is ever written during combat; changes wait until combat ends.
**One-click presets**
*Max Beauty* and *Balanced (recommended)* apply instantly and give you 30 seconds to keep them or go back. Hover a preset to see how many settings it would change. Presets never lower a camera zoom you've already raised.
**Two ways back**
*Restore Blizzard* puts every setting Hidden Beauty changed back to the game's defaults in one click. *Reset all* asks first, then puts those settings back to the values you had before Hidden Beauty changed them. You can also reset any single setting with its reset arrow.
**Performance at a glance**
Every setting has a small cost badge (bars plus *Low*, *Medium* or *High cost*) on one colour scale: green, yellow, red. Settings that need a restart or relog are clearly labelled.
**Helpful tooltips**
Hover any setting to see what it does, its performance cost, and your current value next to the game default. That includes Blizzard's own settings in the quick menu.
**Colourblind friendly**
When the game's colourblind mode is on, Hidden Beauty switches to a colourblind-safe palette, and every cost shows its level, such as *(3/4)*.
**Smart search**
Search understands everyday words like *grass*, *draw distance*, *fog*, *fps*, *shadows*, *water* and *zoom*.
**Easy-to-read rows**
A pending change is orange, with a dot and the word *pending*. A setting Hidden Beauty changed is gold. Everything else is white.
**Apply button**
Changes are staged first. Press *Apply* to write them all at once (it shows how many are waiting), or *Discard* to drop them. If you close the window with changes still waiting, you're asked to Apply, Keep editing or Discard.
**30-second safety revert**
After every Apply, preset or profile load, you're asked "Keep these graphics settings?". If you don't answer, everything goes back after 30 seconds. It also goes back at the next login if you /reload or log out first. Escape never answers for you. You can switch this off with *Ask to keep changes*.
**Profiles**
Three named slots (Raid, Questing, Screenshots, or rename them) to save and load whole setups, including Blizzard's own graphics settings. Loading uses the 30-second safety revert, and each character can auto-load a profile at login.
**Conflict warning**
If another addon (such as Leatrix Plus, Advanced Interface Options, DynamicCam or MaxCam) changes your settings after login, you get one short note and a warning in the panel showing what changed. You can choose to let the other addon win.
**Remembered**
Your values are re-applied every time you log in.
**Minimap button**
Left-click opens the quick menu, right-click opens the full panel, and Shift-click opens Blizzard's Graphics page. Drag it anywhere around the minimap, or hide it. A small number shows how many changes are waiting. Button collector addons list it as *HiddenBeauty*.
**Quick menu**
All your graphics settings in one small window: Blizzard's own (Graphics Quality, View Distance, Shadows, Textures, FPS limits, Brightness and more) plus every hidden one. It remembers where you put it and fits itself to your screen and UI scale.
**Optional Raid & Battleground profile**
Optional support for Blizzard's separate Raid & Battleground graphics profile.
**Lightweight**
No libraries and no background polling.
Commands (optional)
Everything works with the mouse. If you like typing:
- `/hb` or `/hiddenbeauty`: open the settings
- `/hb quick`: open the quick menu
- `/hb minimap`: show or hide the minimap button
- `/hb preset max`, `/hb preset balanced`: apply a preset
- `/hb preset blizzard`: Restore Blizzard
- `/hb profile list`, `/hb profile save 1`, `/hb profile load Raid`: profiles (slot number or name)
- `/hb apply`: write your saved values again (handy after changing a Blizzard graphics preset)
- `/hb keep`, `/hb revert`: answer the 30-second safety revert
- `/hb reset`: Reset all
- `/hb list`: show what you've changed
- `/hb version`, `/hb tips`: version info, the first-run tip
- `/hb debug`: a copyable report to paste into a bug report
Install
Install with the CurseForge app, or extract the zip into `World of Warcraft\<your Forever folder>\Interface\AddOns\` so that the `HiddenBeautyForever` folder sits inside `AddOns`. Then enable it on the character screen's AddOns list.
Good to know
- Hidden Beauty only changes **Blizzard's own graphics and camera settings** (the same ones you could set with `/console`), from a fixed list, each with a safe limit.
- It doesn't modify game files, inject anything or automate gameplay, and it never changes anything during combat.
- Every setting Hidden Beauty changed can be put back with *Restore Blizzard* (game defaults) or *Reset all* (your values from before).
- Turning everything up costs FPS, so start with *Balanced (recommended)* if you're unsure.
- If a setting ever makes the game crash at start-up, disable the addon on the character screen and delete the matching line from `WTF\Config.wtf` (or rename that file and the game will make a fresh one).
