Hidden Beauty - Forever
What's new
v1.5.0-beta (2026-10-19)
Fixed
- Tooltips and descriptions no longer show developer details: no console commands, internal setting names, ranges and steps, or notes on where a range came from. Those are in /hb debug only.
- The reset arrow and the gold "changed" look are only on settings Hidden Beauty changed. Values set by your Blizzard graphics preset are no longer shown as changed. The arrow never stages the game's default onto a setting Hidden Beauty didn't change (before, Reset, Apply and Keep could turn ambient shadows off). On a pending row Hidden Beauty never changed, the arrow only cancels the pending change.
- Restore Blizzard no longer undoes itself. It applies in one click, with no question and no 30-second timer. Every setting Hidden Beauty changed goes back to the game's built-in default, and a short chat line confirms it. A countdown that was still running is ended.
- Reset all and Restore Blizzard now do different things. Reset all puts every setting Hidden Beauty changed back to the value it had before Hidden Beauty changed it, and asks first, with no timer. Restore Blizzard uses the game's defaults. Both tooltips say so.
- Combat: nothing is written during combat any more. Changes, presets, Keep and Revert made in combat are queued and written when combat ends, and the latest choice wins. A revert in combat is no longer undone afterwards.
- Full panel in combat: the quick menu stays open, a chat line says the panel is available after combat, and the panel opens by itself when combat ends.
- The panel's "Quick menu" button is no longer a read-only dead end. It closes Blizzard's Options window, then opens the quick menu. If Options has Blizzard changes you haven't applied there, or you're in combat, Options stays open and the quick menu opens read-only with a note.
- The preset preview count now matches the click.
- The unapplied-changes reminder after closing Options works even if you never opened the quick menu that session.
- The conflict warning no longer reports a setting that is back at your saved value as changed by another addon.
- Typed values are no longer lost when you click away. A number typed into a box counts as soon as the box loses focus, kept within the slider's range. Escape still throws the typing away.
- Tab and Shift-Tab jump to the next or previous value box. Folded sections, filtered-out rows and read-only rows are skipped.
- Tooltips open on the side with more room on screen. Quick-menu button tooltips open below the buttons (above them near the bottom of the screen), so they don't cover the header.
- The quick menu's position: it remembers where you put it between sessions, and a saved spot that would be off screen is pulled back on. The first time, it opens beside the button you opened it from, without covering the minimap button. After a UI-scale or resolution change it resizes to the screen height (never below 200 px) and is placed on screen again.
- The quick menu no longer closes with Blizzard's Options window. It is a window of its own.
- Minimap button name: button-collector addons showed a long, garbled name. They now list it as HiddenBeauty, and its tooltip still says Hidden Beauty. Your button position is kept.
- Apply in the quick menu sometimes did nothing when a Blizzard setting was changed while Blizzard's Options window was open. Now Blizzard rows are greyed out and read-only while Options is open, with a short note. Hidden Beauty settings still apply normally, and a Blizzard change made before you opened Options waits until you close it.
- Addon compartment entry: Shift-click now opens Options > Graphics, like the minimap button. Its tooltip no longer offers Drag.
- Blizzard's 1-10 sliders (Graphics Quality, View Distance, Environment Detail, Ground Clutter) showed 0-9. They now show and accept 1-10.
- The "Let other addons win" list is now restored by Revert too.
- Profile loads count only the settings whose value actually changed.
- Empty bars in the cost badges are easier to see.
Changed
- Presets are one click. Max Beauty and Balanced apply at once, and with "Ask to keep changes" on, the 30-second Keep/Revert timer then starts. There is no confirmation box and no Apply step. Presets still never lower your camera zoom.
- The 30-second safety revert follows every Apply (even of one setting), every preset and every profile load. Its option is now called "Ask to keep changes (30-second revert timer)". With it off, those changes apply with no automatic undo; use Reset all or Restore Blizzard to go back.
- Clearer buttons: Apply is the only gold button and shows how many changes are waiting, for example "Apply (3)", greyed out when there is nothing to apply. Balanced is labelled "Balanced (recommended)". Restore Blizzard and Revert now are red, Keep and every other button are neutral, and button groups have a slightly bigger gap between them. Apply, Discard, Keep, Revert now, the profile buttons and both search boxes now have tooltips.
- Tidier layout: the quick menu's title has its own line, Apply and Discard sit in a footer bar at the bottom of both windows, the full panel's buttons wrap onto two rows, and the panel footer is shorter.
- Plain names: settings now say what they do, with the technical term in brackets where it helps, for example Terrain draw distance, Ambient shadows (SSAO), Realistic water (PBR) and Grass density (ground clutter). Blizzard's own dropdowns in the quick menu are now "Ambient shadows level" and "Ground spell markers". Chat messages and the conflict warning use these names too.
- Consistent words: "quick menu" and "full panel" everywhere, and the same "High cost" wording in rows and tooltips.
- Sections are sorted by how much you see the difference: View distance, Shadows & lighting, Textures, Grass & ground clutter, Water, Particles & effects, Rendering, and Camera last. Your folded or unfolded sections are kept.
- Easier-to-read rows: a pending change shows a dot before its name, the word "pending", and an orange name and stripe. A setting Hidden Beauty changed shows a gold name and stripe, and every other setting stays plain white. The red "Reset" text is now a small reset-arrow icon, and columns line up in a fixed grid. The quick menu drops the duplicate min/max labels under its sliders, and the cost bars and the cost word both stay.
- One window in charge: opening the full panel hides the quick menu. Closing the panel leaves alone a quick menu you opened again afterwards.
- One cost scale everywhere: green Low, yellow Medium, red High. Helper text is brighter.
- Tooltips in a better order: what the setting does, then its performance cost, then the current value next to the game default.
- Clearer /hb apply: it says it wrote your saved values again, so it can't be mistaken for the Apply button. /hb reset is Reset all, and /hb preset blizzard is Restore Blizzard.
ADDED
- Colourblind support: when the game's colourblind mode is on, Hidden Beauty uses a colourblind-safe palette (costs in sky blue, orange and vermilion, pending in reddish purple, changed in yellow), and every cost also gets a level such as (3/4).
- Smarter search: everyday words find the right settings, for example grass, draw distance, view distance, fog, fps, shadows, water, sharp and zoom.
- Unapplied-changes reminder: if you close the last Hidden Beauty window with changes still waiting, it offers Apply, Keep editing or Discard. Escape there changes nothing, so your changes stay pending. A small number on the minimap button shows how many are waiting, and moving between the quick menu and the full panel never asks.
- Preset preview: hover a preset to see how many settings it would change right now and the biggest areas, for example "biggest: view distance, shadows, grass".
- Escape closes the Profiles window.
### Safety
- All the safety limits are unchanged and are now also tested against typed values, one-click presets, profiles and damaged saved data. Bounced light quality stays capped at 4, ambient shadows at their highest level, and shadow sharpness at 2048.
- Still no libraries, no protected actions and no writes during combat.
- Saved data is upgraded automatically (version 6). Your minimap position, folded sections and settings carry over.
