A HandyNotes plugin for the Battle for Azeroth expansion. It will add the locations and rewards for rare mobs, battle pets, treasures and other miscellaneous points of interest to the map.
Global Features
Rare Mobs
Rare mobs are listed as skulls on your map. If the skull is blue colored, that means you still need a collectible reward from that rare. If the rare has multiple spawn points, shares a spawn with common mobs or has a path, hovering over the skull will indicate all the points of interest or paths. Left-clicking on the skull will stick the points of interested on the map and minimap as you travel.
Treasures & Collectibles
Locations and solutions for treasures are displayed on the map, along with the achievement they are associated with and any rewards they contain. Each treasure icon will disappear once it has been looted. The locations of mounts, pets and other collectibles found in the open world are also noted.
Battle Pets and Trainers
The locations of all pet trainers and creature battles are marked on the map. Any achievements associated with defeating that creature or trainer will appear in the tooltip.
Waypoints
Right-clicking a node to bring up its context menu. From this menu you can:
- Create a Blizzard or TomTom waypoint
- Hide this node or restore all hidden nodes
Quick Toggle Menu
In addition to the plugin settings menu found under Interface > Addons > HandyNotes, a quick toggle menu will appear on any map that contains nodes added by this plugin. This allows you to quickly toggle, resize or change the opacity of nodes displayed on the current map.
Options
- Change icon sizes and alpha based on type (rares, treasures, battle pets, etc)
- Customize the size and color and POIs and paths.
- Enable or disable groups of icons
- Enlarge icons when the world map is maximized
- Show only rares that you still need rewards from
- Show already completed nodes

Credits and Issues
I'd like to thank Ersanth and Herida for their early contributions to this addon.
Did I miss something? Let me know in the comments if:
- Something is out of place on the map.
- A reward, path or spawn point is missing from a rare.
- Icons are not removed from the map when expected.
I felt the need to hop in and give a huge thank you for this and the SL plugin. Both of these are perfection for achievement and collection junkies like myself.
Today (10.02.2021) I have updated this plugin to the newest version. After update I was not able to login on 3 of my alts - game disconnected me immediately after loading ended and current location (Garrison) was displayed. My main and 12 other alts do not have this problem, I was able to login successfully on them to do daily crafts.
This addon was the only one updated today, so I was able to quickly find out that it is responsible for this. I have disabled it and I can login again on these 3 alts.
the LUA error below is going off everytime I loot a Zin'anthid herb node
I enabled Prismatic Crystal, but all it shows is the "Strange Crystal," though I've already completed the quest associated with that. Is there a way to get it to actually show the prismatic crystal spawns?
How do I hide everything except for pets/toys/mounts, these are the only things I care about, I dont want to see rares that drop transmog, I do not farm transmog.
I just wanted to pop in and say thanks for all your work. Much appreciated to see the below suggestions made it into the addon as well, came as a surprise today seeing the 8.3 zone transmogs being listed, so now I'm on the hunt for those as well :)
You've done a great job getting this all into one - looking forward to your Legion version when it comes around! :)
Three suggestions for completeness:
1. Add the 'Idej the Wise' rare spawn for Drustvar. Yes he isn't part of the achievement, but he does have a Silverdragon portrait and gives the Taptaf pet.
2. Add some tracking for the 9 transmog weapons that can drop from the N'Zoth Assualt rares, such as 'Ambered Greatstaff', 'Ooze-Imbued Rifle' and 'Lantern of the Damned'.
3. Add tracking for ' Bow of Calamity' transmog to the Horrific Vision of Orgrimmar data. Was unavailable til 9.0 and can drop from any of the end chests (for Hunters only).
Thanks and Keep up the great work!!
In reply to Forge_User_13847502:
Idej and the N'Zoth assault weapons will be in v2! For the Bow of Calamity, the addon does not currently track the rewards from the end-of-run chests, of which there are many (lots of pets). If the addon is updated in the future to include those chests, we will make sure to include the bow.
In reply to Zarillion:
You're right - I totally forgot you don't track any of the end chests. It would be weird to just add the bow! :)
I look forward to seeing v2 :)
Hello. Maybe I'm confusing something, but in the past separate add-ons (Mechagon & Nazjatar) the icons on the minimap that the addon draws were on a lower layer than the game icons and a treasure or a rare mob (star) was always clearly visible. For example, in Mechagon it is now very difficult to collect chests by focusing on the minimap icons, and it is difficult to determine whether the chest really lies there or is it just an addon label. We have to change the scale and transparency. Similar to the rare mob, the white skull completely overlaps the star. Thanks for the great work on the addon.
Any chance we can get prismatic crystal locations so we can feed the slimes more easily?
In reply to 26209:
Ask and you shall receive! Crystal locations will be in v2 (will be released soon).
Would it be possible to add a filter to remove the chests from the markers?
In reply to sererinn:
All icons types, including chests, can be toggled using the filter menu in the top-right corner of your world map.
In reply to Zarillion:
Thanks for this... I had never noticed this filter dependent on the zone... :| Even after your comment I struggled to find it. :) Thanks a lot.
Great job and thank you, maybe you could move the adjust icon too the right vertical window frame because it gets stuck behind the searchframe from pettracker ;)
Regards,
Saffie
Hello, just wondering what the intended, or advertised, difference is between this addon, and the one from Kemayo at https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/handynotes-battle-for-azeroth-treasures ?
They seem to be near-duplicates of each other. This one by Zarillion is newer, fresher, and seems more organized - but wanted to know if there's a core difference.
In reply to CraigeryTheKid:
This addon does many, many things that the HandyNotes: Battle for Azeroth Treasures plugin does not. It is intended to encompass *all* patches and zones in the BfA expansion, and include things beyond just rares and treasures. You would need 4-5 different BfA handynotes plugins to cover all of the things this single plugin covers, such as Warfronts, Visions of NZoth, Mech & Naz, etc.
In reply to Zarillion:
wow, thanks for the reply! I did check out this all-in-one last night, and happened to see the icon for the Elusive Fluf in Voldun, joined an LFG, and 4 hours later got a mount. So I'd say this one's a winner. Look forward to the Legion version, but have plenty to do already!!
is there something similar to this for past expansions?
