Good Addons
v0.9.0 (2026-10-30)
Full Changelog Previous Releases
- CurseForge project 1774671: in the TOC, the version list and the Share link
- Key check workflow: valid YAML
- Key check workflow without inline Python
- Workflow to check the CurseForge keys
- A folder bundled by several projects belongs to the oldest one
- Refresh the CurseForge version list
- Store texts, logo and the minimap buttons animation for CurseForge
- Our running addons lead even over a moved icon order; the old label sits where the update badge does
- Track errors window sits above the main window and is placed beside it on every open; a failure to open is said in chat
- The update badge on an addon icon opens that addon in Updates
- Our own addons come first by default, and the version list always checks them
- Smaller "old" label on addons the game won't run
- Load out of date AddOns from Good Addons: a Settings switch, an outdated label on addons the game won't run, a Turn on note in Updates; fresh CurseForge version list
- Share screen without the sharing switch (it's in Settings); Check instead of Get when no newer version is known
- Refresh the CurseForge version list
- Check runs the smoke test with LuaJIT; the version list falls back to cfwidget when the CurseForge API refuses
- Workflow to refresh the CurseForge version list on demand
- Copy button next to the update link
- Track errors window opens beside the main window on the side with room
With the main icon by the minimap there was no room to the right, so the screen clamp pushed the
window under the main one, where it couldn't be seen. - Check addon versions against a CurseForge list at login, hint at updates for old TOCs, add a Share screen
- Each build ships the newest releases of popular CurseForge addons (tools/cf_snapshot.py,
run by the release workflow); Good Addons compares them with what's installed once per login. - An addon whose TOC lists only older patches of this game is marked: a newer version may be out.
- The Share icon in the Addons status line opens a screen on what sharing brings, with the link,
Copy, Share in guild chat and Whisper a friend. - Release and check workflows.
- Each build ships the newest releases of popular CurseForge addons (tools/cf_snapshot.py,
- Fewer memory reads from Track widgets; holding a movement key closes the search
- Reading addon memory is what made Good Addons spike once a minute on its own chart. Track
widgets now read it once a minute only while charting memory, and every 5 minutes otherwise. - With the search box focused, a tap on W (or any movement key) types it; holding it for 0.3 s
closes the window so the player can move.
- Reading addon memory is what made Good Addons spike once a minute on its own chart. Track
- Read the game's error window on clients that keep no message list; say why an addon isn't running
- Anniversary's Lua error window keeps no list Good Addons can read, so it now reads the message
and stack the window shows, and closes it when every error it holds is on our card. - The menu and tooltip of an addon that isn't running say why (switched off, built for an older
patch, needs an addon that is missing or off) instead of looking switched off. - Tab bar tooltips sit just above the icon.
- /ga probe lists what the game reports for addons that aren't running.
- Anniversary's Lua error window keeps no list Good Addons can read, so it now reads the message
- Catch errors that addons send straight to the game's error window
Some addons (Baganator) keep the game's error handler from before Good Addons loaded and call it
themselves. Good Addons now also watches the game's Lua error window: an error it receives that
didn't pass through Good Addons is taken over the same way. /ga probe reports what it sees of
that window. - Take over load-time errors from the game's window; read shortened paths
- Errors raised before Good Addons loads (Baganator without Syndicator) are read from the game's
window, where each message sits apart from its stack, so the card takes them over with the stack. - Paths the game shortens ("...ddOns/Questie/...") still name the addon and are trimmed in lists.
- Errors raised before Good Addons loads (Baganator without Syndicator) are read from the game's
- Icon-only tab bar, paging arrows on hover, open into search
- The tab bar shows larger icons only; the active one is gold, the name shows after a short hover.
- The paging arrows fade in while the cursor is over the icons.
- A click on the main icon opens the window ready to search, with the search icon lit, except in
combat or while moving, so movement keys stay with the game.
- Smaller error log with per-addon counts, Copy for error details
- The log keeps the last 100 errors in full across all addons, plus a running count per addon;
an addon's errors are dropped when its version changes (the game's own on a new build). - Error details open in a box that fits its text, with a Copy button; Copy opens the text
selected, so Ctrl+C / Cmd+C copies it with the addon, version and count. The error card has
Copy too.
- The log keeps the last 100 errors in full across all addons, plus a running count per addon;
- Enable and Disable always show their change and ask for a reload; longer error log
- An addon's state at login comes from whether it loaded (or the game's DISABLED reason), and a
switch made in Good Addons is taken as done, so Enable / Disable show at once and the footer
offers a reload. It also worked badly when an error made the list before login. - The error log keeps the last 500 distinct errors; one list shows up to 100.
- /ga probe prints the raw enable-state answers of this client.
- An addon's state at login comes from whether it loaded (or the game's DISABLED reason), and a
- Right-click options on Performance and Errors rows; clearer Track widget footer
- Right-click (or Ctrl / Cmd-click) an addon on the Performance or Errors tab for the same
options as on the Addons tab. - Track widget: "FPS IMP." label; the average and peak values stand out from their labels.
- Right-click (or Ctrl / Cmd-click) an addon on the Performance or Errors tab for the same
- Tab bar with an Errors tab, one error card per addon, live launcher icons
- Addons, Performance and Errors now sit in a tab bar at the bottom of the window.
- Errors tab: addons with saved errors, last seen first; each opens its errors with the stack,
Disable / Enable and Track live. - The error card groups errors by addon and takes over the game's Lua error window when every
error in it comes from addons, including ones raised before Good Addons loaded. - Enable / Disable read the addon state with the argument order this client uses, so switching
an addon back on asks for a reload on Anniversary too. - Minimap buttons that change their icon to show a state (AutoLayers) update on the tile; the
tooltip shows their current text.
- Error log, clearer Track widget, smaller main icon
- Addon errors are saved between sessions; read them under Settings > Open error log or
/ga errors, and in each addon's Track errors window. - Track widget: pick CPU, memory or FPS impact to chart; bars are coloured from green to red
by how heavy each reading is; average and peak below; tooltips explain each number. - The main icon can go down to 24 px.
- Clearer note on the Performance tab; the LIVE badge no longer overlaps its dot.
- Addon errors are saved between sessions; read them under Settings > Open error log or
- Addon search, a card for addon Lua errors, five live trackers
- Search addons by name from the window header or with /ga <name>; Enter opens the first match.
- When an addon breaks and Display Lua Errors is on, Good Addons names it and offers to
disable it and reload, in place of the game's Lua error window. Can be switched off. - Up to five Track widgets; clicks in Good Addons' own windows no longer close the main one.
- Move icons, live tracking, error tracker and version sharing
- Hold an addon icon for 2 s to pick it up and move it; the order is kept, new installs go first
- Round icons fill the circle the way the game draws minimap buttons
- Details: CPU chart for the last minute; Track live opens a small movable widget
- Track errors: a window that collects one addon's Lua errors and blocked actions while it's open
- Version sharing: Good Addons players in a guild or group exchange addon versions, so a newer
version someone else runs shows up as an update (can be turned off in Settings) - Updates link straight to the CurseForge project when the addon has its ID
- Paging arrows beside the dots; Ctrl- or Cmd-click works as a right click
- /ga probe input prints the mouse events Good Addons receives, for trackpad checks
- Less work on the first click: the window is built a piece at a time after login, tile badges
only when needed, memory read at most every 15-60 s
- Round addon icons by default, tinted letter icons, brighter main icon
- Menu items and rows no longer vanish on hover (the hover sits under the text)
- Only a left click outside closes the window; the right button still turns the camera
- Settings: Icon shape, Round (new default, suits minimap art) or Square
- Letter icons get a colour of their own per addon
- Main icon: brighter face and edge, a soft gold glow even at rest
- Main icon tooltip says what Good Addons is and what each click does
- Lighter on resources, sortable columns, close on outside click
- Memory is read when Performance opens and then every 30 s (the game's memory refresh is slow)
- Slash commands are found through SlashCmdList instead of walking all globals
- TOC details are read once per session; list rows repaint icons only when they change
- Peak CPU is the highest share seen while you watch, not a loading-screen spike
- Performance: click the column headers to sort
- Sliders: the knob sits on top of the track and the gold fill follows it
- Settings: spacing follows the text, nothing overlaps
- An addon's second minimap button (Details) belongs to it instead of becoming its own icon
- Clicking outside the window closes it
- Don't touch the in-game shop window: it's forbidden to addons
- Open addons by their own command, CPU in percent, quiet tiles for addons with nothing to open
- Slash commands must fit the addon's name: no more /rl from MiniAuras reloading the UI, and Ace
commands (HandyNotes) are found even when another addon loaded AceConsole - Addons with nothing to open sort after the ones that open, don't light up, and explain on click
- Performance: frame rate shows what addons take from it; CPU and peak CPU as % of frame time;
the list and details show CPU in %
- Slash commands must fit the addon's name: no more /rl from MiniAuras reloading the UI, and Ace
- Match the approved look: rounded shapes, Inter font, main icon effects
- Own textures (rounded shapes, icon mask, rings, glyphs) drawn by tools/gen_media.py, Inter font (OFL)
- Addon icons: rounded squares; round logos sit inset on a plate instead of being cut off
- Main icon: shadow, gold hover glow, hold ring around the icon, bounce on drop, pulse
- Collect: minimap buttons fly into the main icon (and back out when turned off)
- Switched-off addons sort last and no longer show update badges; they're listed quietly under Updates
- Reload count only counts changes made since login
- Main icon, prompt and window sit below the game's settings and other addons' windows
- Settings: "Good Addons UI scale", switch for collecting, styled tooltip and menus
- Good Addons v0.1: main icon, addon pages, performance, settings
First playable build. A movable main icon (hold 2 s) opens a window with
all installed addons on 3 x 5 pages, collects LibDBIcon minimap buttons,
opens addons through their minimap button or slash command, shows CPU
and memory per addon while the Performance tab is open, and has settings
for icon sizes and a full reset. /ga probe reports what the client offers.
