Changelog
All notable changes to Gear Upgrade Check are documented here. This project follows Keep a Changelog and Semantic Versioning.
[1.1.0] - 2026-06-17
Changed
- Redesigned the summary panel: a gold-framed window with a header, the real in-game crest currency icons (with affordable-upgrade counts per tier), and the actual equipped-item icons in the best-upgrade rows. Affordable tiers and slots show in color; unaffordable ones grey out.
[1.0.1] - 2026-06-17
Changed
- Updated for World of Warcraft patch 12.0.7 (Interface
120007).
[1.0] - 2026-06-15
First release.
Added
- Character-screen overlays — each equipped slot shows its upgrade track and
level (e.g.
Champion 5/8) anchored beside the slot: left column reads to the right, right column to the left, and weapons stacked vertically above the slot. - Crest-aware coloring — slot text is green when you have enough crests to upgrade it, red when you don't, and greyed out when the item is fully upgraded.
- Summary panel below the character window showing how many upgrades each crest tier can currently afford.
- Upgrade priority — a "Best upgrade" list, ordered from lowest to highest crest tier, recommending which slot to spend each tier's crests on. Picks the highest stat-budget slot, breaking ties by whichever item is furthest along its track so it finishes sooner.
- Configurable priority scores — editable weight per slot bucket (Main Hand, Off Hand, Head/Chest/Legs, Shoulder/Hands/Waist/Feet, Trinkets, and minor slots), with Main Hand and Off Hand decoupled so shields and caster off-hands can be weighted separately.
- Item tooltip line — hovering upgradeable gear shows a green "Crest upgrade available" note when you can afford the upgrade.
- Minimap button to open the settings window; drag it around the minimap to reposition.
- Config window with options for text position (top/middle/bottom), show or hide the slot text, show or hide the summary bar, hide fully upgraded slots, and the editable priority scores.
- Locale independence — upgrade tracks, crests, and discount achievements are matched by the game's own localized strings rather than hardcoded English, so the addon works on non-English clients.
- Discount awareness — upgrade cost drops from 20 to 10 crests automatically for any track whose "of the Dawn" achievement you've earned.
- Settings are saved between sessions.
