GearQuest Forever
GearQuest Forever answers one question at every level from 1 to 60: what is the best thing I could be wearing in this slot right now, and where do I get it?
This is the Forever / Classic+ addon (client 1.60). Open the log, pick a slot, and you get the three best hunts for your class, your spec, your faction, and your level — with a plain-language source and a one-click track. When the item lands in your bags, GearQuest marks the hunt complete and toasts you.
No spreadsheet. No alt-tab to a website.
How we score (and why)
Every hunt is scored with a per-spec Forever stat model. We do not rank by item level, and we do not average random-enchant greens into mush.
The philosophy while you are leveling (1–59) is three layers, in this order:
1. Damage first. The spec's real job still leads. A hunter hunts Agility. Arms hunts Strength. A mage hunts spell power. If the piece does not make you kill (or tank-threat) better, it is not BiS. Weapon rules stay here too: dual wield when it unlocks, shields for prot, totems/idols/librams in the relic slot, and procs that only count if you actually swing or shoot that slot.
2. Survivability second. Leveling is not a raid parse. You pull extra mobs, you travel, you often have no healer. A naked +1 primary-stat upgrade that leaves you squishy loses to a piece with stamina, health, or armor. That is why at 22 Brawler's / Trapper's Leather Tunic (Agility and stam) beat Panther Armor (more Agility, no stam). Dying costs more time than a one-stat edge saves.
3. Endurance third. Staying effective also means having and keeping mana. Intellect, spirit, and mana per 5 matter for paladin seals and heals, shaman shocks, hunter shots, and every caster's drink cycle. Endurance is real, but it is less important than stamina. A glass cannon that is OOM every two pulls is not a better hunt.
At level 60 those leveling boosts turn off. You get the raw raid-scale weights. Forever does not yet have pinned community 60 guides, so the model speaks at 60 too.
Random enchants: we rank the jackpot. "Shoulders of Agility" can roll +6–7 Agi. If that +7 roll would be the best item in the slot, GearQuest lists it as BiS #1 and tells you the roll is slim (~9.5%). We do not hide a hunt because the suffix is rare. You came here to know what to look for on the auction house and on the corpse.
Three hunts, plus one notable. Each slot shows up to three unique names. Beside them, one notable: a proc the math cannot fully price, or a tank-relevant extra (for example +3 Defense on a spell-power glove is a warrior-prot notable, not fake BiS). Warrior Protection does not score spell damage. Paladin Protection still does — holy threat is real.

What you get in game
- Top 3 per slot for all nine classes and every spec, levels 1–60, Alliance and Horde
- Track a hunt and toast on obtain
- The Log — parchment detail with how to get the piece, zone, quest, NPC, and always a Source line
- Simulator — browse another class, spec, faction, or level (right-click the minimap button)
- Paper-doll — right-click a character-panel slot
- Suffix names on the tooltip so Forever's unsuffixed green tooltip still shows of Agility and the roll
- Faction-correct lists — no Stormwind quest on a Horde character
Getting started
- Install GearQuest Forever (folder
GearQuestForever) and/reload. - Left-click the minimap button for the Log, or right-click a paper-doll slot.

- No libraries, no bag automation — GearQuest never equips or moves items
Feedback
Wrong rank, missing Forever item, or "why is X above Y" — please include class, spec, level, faction, and slot. Those reports are how the weights stay honest.
