FriendGroups Version 12.1.0 Changelog
New Features & Enhancements
- Dynamic Guild Folders: Instead of lumping everyone together, the friends list now dynamically generates beautifully formatted, specific folders for every guild you are a part of (e.g.,
[Guild] <Name>). These folders automatically pin themselves near the top of your friends list, right below[Favorites]. - Automated Guildmate Sorting: When you log in, the addon silently checks your active guild roster. Any Battle.net or WoW friends playing characters in that guild are instantly gathered into their dedicated
[Guild]group with zero setup required. You can also type your guild name into the search bar to instantly filter your list. - Seamless Multi-Guild Support: The addon now remembers exactly which alts belong to which guilds, silently building a master database of all your active guilds behind the scenes as you log into different characters.
- Custom Guild Folders (The
< >Tag System): You now have ultimate, manual control over your lists. Typing<Any Text>into a friend's note (like<Liquid>or<Old Friends>) dynamically generates a formatted[Guild] <Old Friends>folder. This works perfectly for ex-guildies, custom communities, or friends on different servers. It even supports multiple guilds in a single note (e.g.,"Main in <Method>, alt in <Echo>") and smartly ignores common text emojis like<3or<_<. - Smart, Spam-Protected Mass Invites: Right-clicking any folder—including custom
<Guild>folders—and clicking "Invite Group to Party" now works flawlessly. The addon strictly invites players actively visible in the folder, specifically ignores friends playing other Blizzard games (Diablo, Overwatch, WoW Classic), and uses a safe 0.2-second micro-delay between invites to protect your account from Blizzard's anti-spam disconnects. - Accurate Contact Cap Tracker: The old overlapping counter has been replaced with an actionable tracker next to the search bar that strictly monitors the hard 600 Battle.net cap (e.g.,
420/600). It turns red when you hit the limit, providing immediate context for why you can't send or receive new BNet requests. - Detailed Cap Tooltip: Hovering over the new Contact Tracker summons a native Blizzard-style tooltip. It perfectly breaks down the math, explaining how pending invites consume BNet slots, tracks your separate WoW-character limits (out of 100), and displays your total unique contacts.
- Protected Guild Menus: The new dynamic guild folders are automatically safeguarded in the right-click dropdown menus. You cannot accidentally break the addon by trying to rename, delete, or manually add/remove people from these automatically generated groups.
Bug Fixes & Technical Refinements
- Restored Realm Flags & Clean Classic Support: Realm flags are back and bulletproof! Realms with punctuation (like Aman'Thul or Khaz'goroth) correctly display their region flags again. The internal database has been synchronized to speak the exact same language as Blizzard's API, stripping out messy hardcoded fallbacks and ensuring lightning-fast flag parsing for Classic Era and Seasonal realms.
- Buttery Smooth UI Performance: The friends list now opens instantly without frame drops. We optimized the background caching architecture to prioritize framerate, ensuring a consistently buttery-smooth player experience without micro-stuttering.
- Empty Note Crash Protection: Implemented a vital under-the-hood fix that normalizes Blizzard's raw data. You will no longer experience Lua errors or vanishing UI groups when the addon attempts to scan friends who have completely empty (
nil) notes.
