Forgemaster

A crafting planner for WoW: Forever. Pick what to make, and it works out the materials, counts what every character already has, buys the rest, and walks you through crafting it. Also ranks recipes by profit.

What's new

1.1.0

  • "Use global settings" for each character. Its settings can now differ by character (top of General). Plans, prices and counts stay one set for everyone. Every character starts with it on, so nothing changes until you turn it off on one. Turn it off in Forgemaster's settings window and that character gets a copy of the global settings as they are now to change on its own; turn it back on and the global ones return, with the character's own kept for next time. Needs BLib 1.10.0.
  • In BLib's profiles. /blib profile save <name> now keeps Forgemaster's settings too, so they can be backed up or moved to another computer with /blib profile export and import. Plans, prices and counts stay where they are. Needs BLib 1.10.0.
  • The settings window looks like the rest of our addons'. Same pages and settings, in BLib's shared settings window: it opens on the page you last used, remembers where you left it, and closes on Escape. Reset Defaults is now at the foot of the About page. The Buy Next key can now be a key with Shift, Ctrl or Alt held; right-click it to put Space back. Options > AddOns > Forgemaster opens it as before. Needs BLib 1.10.0; with an older BLib, one line in chat says so and the rest of Forgemaster works as before. The window opens in the middle of the screen the first time, as its old position is not carried over.
  • Lines and dividers stay one screen pixel at any UI scale. With BLib 1.10.0 its separators and dividers are drawn in screen pixels, so none vanishes on a UI scaled below 1, and they follow a change of UI scale at once.
  • Fixed: crafting could run with no cast bar at all. While crafting, the Craft panel's own bar stands in for the game's cast bar, which it hid every frame whether its own bar was showing or not, and after crafting stopped (out of materials, say) its bar could stay hidden into the next run. Now the panel's bar shows whenever a step is under way, and the game's cast bar is hidden only while the panel's is on screen, so a stopped panel no longer hides your hearthstone's cast either. Pressing Start crafting before opening the profession window no longer makes the Craft panel reopen itself over and over, and the main window stops saying "Crafting stopped." once you start again.
  • Fixed: Continue and Restart crafting on top of each other. After crafting stopped (out of materials, say), the next change to your bags drew a "Next:" line and a Continue button over the Restart crafting button. Only Restart crafting shows now, and it checks your materials first. Why crafting stopped is now shown in full rather than cut off after one line.- Sort the recipe list, and choose how it is laid out. A Sort menu beside the Filters menu orders Known and All recipes by name, skill-up colour (orange first), heading, item level, level needed or how many you can make, with Reverse order to turn any of them round. Sorted by item level or level needed, the column that showed "Can make" shows that number instead. Recipes the game has not told Forgemaster about yet (an item still loading, an enchant that makes no item) stay at the bottom whichever way you sort. A View menu beside the profession dropdown switches between recipes grouped under the game's headings and one flat list, and opens or shuts every heading at once (Expand all, Collapse all). Sort and View are remembered.
  • Stop now stops the game's batch too. The Craft panel's Stop used to end Forgemaster's part only, and the game went on crafting the rest of the batch. It now stops the craft in progress the way /stopcasting does, which only a secure button may do, then stops Forgemaster.- Each profession remembers its own filters. Setting Quality on Leatherworking no longer narrows Alchemy, and what you set is still there next time you open the window.
  • Fixed: clearing or loading a plan left the old crafting run going. Crafting works through its own copy of the plan, so the Craft panel kept crafting the old one while the main window showed the new plan and would not start it. Clearing the plan, or loading another, now ends the run first.- Filters for the recipe list. A Filters menu beside the search box narrows Known and All recipes by whether you have learned a recipe (known, not learned, or learnable now: a trainer teaches it and your skill is high enough), where it comes from (trainer, vendor, quest, drop, other), what it makes (armour, weapons, consumables, bags, trade goods, or an enchant), the equipment slot, the product's quality, the level needed to use it (your level or lower, a band of ten levels, or exact limits typed into a small box, with item level as well), the stats it gives (tick any of strength, agility, stamina, intellect, spirit, attack power, crit, hit, spell damage, healing, mana regeneration, defence, resistances and more, matching any or all of them), the skill-up colour and whether you have the materials. What is set shows as small chips beside the menu (click one to drop it, or Clear for all), and a count says how many recipes match ("34 of 412"). The colour and materials dropdowns moved into the menu.
  • Click the recipe again to carry on. If Blizzard's profession window is moved to another recipe while a step waits for its Craft press, the step stops as before, and now clicking the step's recipe again in Blizzard's window carries on by itself, without Restart crafting.- Tooltips on what you craft. Hover a recipe or the item it makes anywhere in Forgemaster and the game's own tooltip appears, as in the profession window: in the recipe list and the levelling route, the detail pane's heading, the profit list, the Plan and its materials, the Buy, Craft and Gather tabs and their panels. A recipe also lists its reagents with how many you have. An enchant, which makes no item, shows the spell. Forgemaster's own lines (costs, where a material comes from, "made first for ...") follow underneath, and the auction price it adds to any item tooltip is there as well.
  • Fixed: the Craft button vanished after closing and reopening the profession window. With a step ready to craft, closing the window took the Craft button away with the Craft panel, and it did not come back when the window was opened again. It now does.

Supported versions

Built for WoW: Forever. TBC Anniversary is not a development target. The classic code paths are still in place and should keep working, but they are not tested and will be dropped the next time a file needs reworking.

Countinghouse price integration. Works on its own; with Countinghouse installed it uses Countinghouse's auction prices too.
