What's new

Changelog

0.11.0

2026-10-16

  • Hovering a boss now says whether you have beaten it, how many abilities and items it has, and which room it stands in.

0.10.0

2026-10-16

  • The first time a character logs in, the addon asks which of the three modes it should keep: three cards, left to right, Chronicle to Hardcore. /dungeons chooser show brings it back, and /dungeons chooser forget puts the character back to never having been asked so the next /reload asks again.
  • The mode is remembered PER CHARACTER now. It used to be account-wide, so switching one character to Chronicle switched every character you had. Characters that already existed keep exactly what they had and are not asked.
  • A character who has never chosen starts in Adventure rather than Chronicle. This only applies to characters created from here on -- nobody is moved.
  • Nothing is asked on a Hardcore realm, where the server has already decided.
  • Choosing is two steps: click a card to pick it, then Keep this one to lock it in. One click used to do both, which was a lot to hang on one click when one of the three is a promise the addon then holds you to.
  • Closing the chooser without picking no longer decides for you. It asks again the next time you log in, up to three times, and only then settles on Adventure -- so an escape aimed at something else costs a second rather than a mode you never chose. There is a Not now button under the cards to say so out loud.
  • The chooser waits for the opening cinematic to finish. A brand new character used to get it behind the intro, where the escape that skips the cinematic also dismissed a question nobody had seen.
  • A character made with the name of one you deleted no longer inherits its journal. The game keeps those under the character's NAME, so a reused name came up already holding the old character's dungeons, bosses and kills, and was never asked which chronicle to keep. It now starts its own and says so.
  • Every line the addon says to you has been rewritten. Tooltips, the panel's empty pages, the chat lines and the refusals used to describe missing data the way the person writing it would -- rosters, sources, coordinates, the combat log, the names of files. Nothing says any of that now.
  • A boss you fought says "Its page is written" rather than that what it does is yours, a boss that beat you now gets a line of its own, and clearing a place says nothing in it still stands.
  • A dungeon nobody has written up yet says so as a place nobody has come back from, not as a building site.
  • Two id numbers that had been printing on the bottom of every dungeon tooltip since the first build are behind the developer switch where they belong.

0.9.0

2026-10-15

  • Maps for Ruins of Lordaeron, Hall of Thanes, the City of Dalaran and all four wings of the Scarlet Monastery. Sixteen dungeons draw their own map now, where nine did.
  • The Scarlet Monastery is one book with a page per wing, because the game will not say which wing you are standing in -- the arrows step between them, and each wing unlocks on its own.
  • Any dungeon's map can be opened from the world map itself now: a Dungeons step on the breadcrumb across the top, listing the ones your mode will show you.
  • The artist's name sits in the corner of the maps they drew, and clicking it offers their link to copy.
  • Blackfathom Deeps, Gnomeregan, the City of Dalaran and the four Scarlet Monastery wings now list what their bosses cast.
  • The City of Dalaran's eight bosses have portraits.
  • Excavation Site: Wetlands has new map art, with each boss marked on it.
  • Fixed: a boss portrait framed past the zoom limit could crash the client. Baron Aquanis and Death Speaker Jargba both did.
  • Fixed: the addon printed developer diagnostics during ordinary play -- a block of Lua every time you zoned into an instance, and the raw kill data for your first five boss kills. All of it is behind /dungeons dev now, which is off until you turn it on.
  • Fixed: turning discovery announcements off only lasted until your next reload.
  • Shadowfang Keep's Fel Steed is no longer listed as a boss, since it raises no encounter. Its saddlebags are still listed, under its name.

0.8.0

2026-10-13

  • Nine dungeons now draw their own map when you open the world map inside them, instead of the continent you cannot see. Every boss is marked where you meet him, wearing his own face.
  • The dungeons drawn as more than one picture -- the Deadmines and its flooded cove, Shadowfang Keep floor by floor -- step between them with arrows, and one button puts the real world map back whenever you want it.
  • In Adventure the map arrives once you have walked into a place and a boss appears on it when you kill him; in Hardcore both arrive together, once it is cleared. Chronicle shows everything, as always.
  • Fixed: a boss pin counted itself against the picture it was drawn on rather than the dungeon, so the Deadmines' Gilnid introduced himself as boss one of five when he is the fourth of eight, and every Shadowfang Keep pin said "of 2".

0.7.0

2026-10-11

  • The City of Dalaran is now in the journal, with its bosses, their loot, its quests and 3D portraits. It is marked unverified: nobody can reach it at the level cap yet, and its sources disagree about one boss's name.
  • Over a hundred drops Forever added to Classic bosses are now listed, across thirteen dungeons -- including the Blueprints, which turned out to be a whole category rather than one new dungeon's quirk.
  • Razorfen Downs now has its quests.
  • Earthcaller Halmgar is now listed as a Razorfen Kraul rare, with his two drops, and Roogug's three drops are in.
  • Added the Deadmines' Destruction in Deadmines, Blackfathom Deeps' Seeking the Kor Gem and Gnomeregan's More Sparklematic Action.
  • Shadowfang Keep no longer waits on the courtyard mounts or the Deathsworn Captain to read as cleared.
  • /dungeons sources says where the selected dungeon's bosses, loot and quests came from.
  • /dungeons discovery now reports whether the kill events this addon depends on were accepted by the client, so a dungeon that records nothing can say which half is wrong.
  • Fixed: the Hidden Enemies chain in Ragefire Chasm was missing its first step, so the quest Thrall actually gives you -- fetch a Lieutenant's Insignia from Skull Rock -- did not appear in the chain and nothing in the list showed as the one you were on.
  • Fixed: Bandsaw Wristbands was missing from Sneed in the Deadmines, Rockslicer from Rhahk'Zor, and two more of Sneed's Shredder's.
  • Fixed: three bosses in the Wetlands excavation site showed an empty space instead of a silhouette before you had met them, and three others -- Cookie, Edwin VanCleef and Miner Johnson -- had a silhouette framed differently from their portrait, so the picture jumped when you found them.
  • Fixed: adding a single boss portrait left out the silhouette players see before they have met him, so that boss showed an empty space in the list.
  • Fixed: the loot crawler could not read guides that space their table cells, which is every boss in the new City of Dalaran dungeon.

0.6.0

2026-10-06

  • Excavation Site: Wetlands now has bosses, abilities, loot, quests, and both 3D and painted boss portraits. Titan Relic loot respects your faction.
  • Razorfen Kraul now has quests, boss abilities, and framed 3D portraits.
  • Razorfen Kraul and Razorfen Downs now list their boss loot.
  • Scarlet Monastery bosses now have 3D portraits, including simultaneous Mograine and Whitemane models with independent framing controls.
  • Added missing dungeon quests, shared class quests, and Gnomeregan chain steps. Fixed faction-specific quest branches blocking the other faction.
  • Refined quest-giver coordinates and added the Wailing Caverns cave givers.
  • Long quest chain names now reserve room for their level and item icon.
  • Added a compact entrance-map button and brief yellow destination pulses.
  • Selecting a dungeon while the map is open now shows its valid entrance without changing the pinned destination, respecting discovery and modes.
  • Catalogue preparation is batched after login, and the browser panel is created on first use to reduce initial opening work.
  • Fixed: four quests handed out inside a dungeon put their map pin on the hand-in npc, in the wrong zone, instead of on the dungeon entrance.

0.5.0

2026-10-02

  • Blackfathom Deeps, the Stockade and Gnomeregan now have 3D boss portraits, framed one boss at a time.
  • Blackfathom Deeps, the Stockade and Gnomeregan now list their quests, with what gates each one and who hands it out.
  • Blackfathom Deeps and the Stockade now list their boss loot, and the quest items you loot in them.
  • Quest lists now hide quests your class cannot take.
  • Blackfathom Deeps quest chains now show step names instead of bare numbers, and every giver is marked on the map.
  • The Stockade now lists Kam's Walking Stick and the Defias Renegade Ring.
  • The Deadmines and Stockade entrance pins are now measured at the door rather than crawled. The Deadmines moved about 20 yards; the Stockade was 181 yards out.
  • Item and spell tooltips no longer show an id line.
  • /dungeons dev loot checks every baked item id against your client.
  • Gnomeregan's loot and the Scarlet Monastery are not in this build yet -- both are still being checked against the live game.
  • Fixed: killing Sneed's Shredder in the Deadmines now credits it, instead of adding "Sneed" as a boss that could never be cleared.
  • Fixed: a boss you have killed now shows its abilities instead of leaving them dark.
  • Fixed: Rhahk'Zor was shown in the silver used for rare bosses. He is an ordinary boss and always present.
  • Fixed: Red Silk Bandanas showed as available once you finished Red Leather Bandanas, though it also needs the Defias Brotherhood questline. It now greys out until both are done.
  • Fixed: Underground Assault was greyed out as needing Speak with Shoni, which only points you at it and is not required.
  • Fixed: Amongst the Ruins now shows as needing The Essence of Aku'Mai first, and The Essence of Aku'Mai no longer looks gated by Trouble in the Deeps.
  • Fixed: Blackfathom Deeps quests no longer list both halves of the same errand twice.
  • Fixed: items your client cannot identify are no longer hidden by the loot type filter.
  • Fixed: /dungeons dev faction did not reach the loot list until the quest list had been opened once.

0.4.1

2026-09-30

  • The map and minimap now mark only the dungeon quests you have not picked up yet, instead of every quest the dungeon has.

0.4.0

2026-09-30

  • Fixed: bosses you killed were not being recorded, so rosters never filled in and a cleared dungeon never read as cleared.

0.3.0

2026-09-28

  • New Quests tab: what each dungeon has, what stands in front of it, and who hands it to you — with the givers marked on the map and minimap.

0.2.0

2026-09-27

  • 3D boss portraits, behind a toggle in the journal's gear menu. Live models instead of artwork, framed one boss at a time.
  • Boss rosters, abilities and loot for the dungeons reachable at the beta's level cap.

0.1.1

2026-09-26

  • Renamed to Forever Dungeons.
  • Screenshots on the project page.

0.1.0

2026-09-26

  • First release. A Dungeons tab in the Looking For Group window listing every instance in the game with its level range, whatever your own level.
  • Three modes — Chronicle, Adventure and Hardcore — for how much the journal tells you before you have been there.
  • An on-screen arrow to the selected dungeon's entrance, plus map and minimap pins.
