Description
Forager
An automatic tracking switcher for herbalists, miners and hunters. Forager swaps between Find Herbs and Find Minerals for you on a timer, so herb and ore nodes both show on your minimap while you gather, and you never have to click the tracking menu again.
Want more? Add a hunter's Track Beasts, Track Humanoids and the rest, keep Find Treasure on alongside them, and set up tracks: one for gathering, one for hunting, each on screen with its own play button.
Tracking rotation
- Switches tracking every 2 to 60 seconds (you choose) while you're out of combat.
- Find Herbs and Find Minerals are on by default. Tick any other tracker your character knows to add it, and use the up and down arrows to set the order.
- Find Treasure stays on. On WoW Forever it works alongside other tracking, so ticked it is simply kept on while the rest take turns, and it never holds the rotation up.
- One tracker is enough. Tick a single tracker, or leave all but one out, and Forager keeps that one on.
- Restores tracking after death. Dying clears your tracking. Forager remembers what each character was tracking and turns it back on as soon as you're alive again, even with the rotation paused.
- Skips trackers that can't be cast right now. For example a druid's Track Humanoids outside Cat Form is skipped for a minute instead of failing over and over.
- Swaps for the situation (each optional):
- Fishing pole equipped: Find Fish.
- Druid in Cat Form: Track Humanoids.
- Hunter in a battleground or arena: Track Humanoids.
- When the moment passes, the rotation picks up again, or your old tracker comes back if the rotation is paused.
Tracks
- Keep several sets of trackers, for example Gathering and Hunting. Each track has its own ticked trackers and its own left-out ones.
- Every track on screen at once: each gets its own row of icons with its name above it and its own play / stop button.
- One track runs at a time. Press play on a row to run that track; the one that was running stops. Press stop to pause it.
- The running row is lit, with the glow, the countdown and the swipe. The other rows are dimmed until they run, and their icons still work.
- Add, rename and delete tracks in the options. Switch with a row's play button, a row's name, the Next track key binding or /forager track. Prefer one row? Untick "Show every track's icons at once".
Tracker icons
- The tracker that's on glows like a proc on your action bars, with sparkles around it (eight effects, plus size and intensity sliders, or switch them off).
- The next one shows a cooldown swipe and the seconds until it switches.
- Left-click an icon to switch to it straight away, with its sound so you hear it worked.
- Right-click an icon to leave that tracker out of the rotation for now. It turns grey and is skipped until you right-click it again, and a left-click still turns it on. Perfect for picking a hunter's tracking to suit what's around you, right from the icons instead of your action bars.
- Move, resize and lock them, stack them vertically, or hide them in combat.
- Icon shape: Automatic, Round or Square.
Doesn't interrupt your game
- Never switches in combat, while dead, on a flight path, while you're casting or gathering, or while the loot window is open.
- Quiet: the timer's switches mute sound effects for a moment around each one (optional). Your own clicks keep their sound.
- Pauses in cities and inns, and in dungeons, raids and battlegrounds (both optional).
- Can be set to switch only while you're moving.
- Turned on a tracker that isn't in any of your tracks? Forager leaves it on until you switch back.
Controls
- Minimap button. Shows the tracker that's on. Left-click opens the options, right-click pauses or resumes, drag it around the minimap, or hide it.
- Pause key. Set a key to pause and resume right from Forager's options: click the button, press a key. It warns you if the key already does something else.
- Key bindings. Pause / resume, switch to the next tracker, next track, and open the options, also under Keybindings > AddOns > Forager.
- Options page in the game's own Esc > Options > AddOns list. Right-click the play / stop button to open it.
Look
- Window style Automatic, Blizzard or Dark for the tracker icons and the play / stop buttons.
- Dark is built in and needs no other addon, with a slider for how solid its background is. Automatic uses EllesmereUI's look when EllesmereUI is installed (optional, never required) and the game's own art otherwise.
Getting started
- Log in on a character with Herbalism and Mining, or any tracking spells.
- Head out of town (Forager pauses in cities and inns unless you turn that off). The glowing icon swaps every 6 seconds.
- Type /forager or left-click the minimap button to change the timing, pick and order trackers, set up tracks, set a pause key, change the look or move the icons.
Commands
- /forager opens the options
- /forager on, /forager off, /forager toggle pause and resume
- /forager switch switches to the next tracker now
- /forager track switches to the next track; /forager track 2 or /forager track hunting picks one, and /forager track new Hunting adds one
- /forager move beasts up moves a tracker up or down in the order
- /forager delay 10 sets the time between switches in seconds
- /forager icons, /forager minimap show or hide the tracker icons and the minimap button
- /forager reset moves the tracker icons back to the middle of the screen
- /forager style auto, blizzard or dark sets the window style
- /forager shape auto, round or square sets the icon shape
- /forager sparkles turns the sparkles on or off; /forager sparkles next picks the next effect
- /forager debug prints what Forager sees
How the switching works
Forager uses the same call as the game's own tracking menu. If the game ever stops addons from switching tracking on a timer, Forager notices, tells you once, and switches on your next key press after the delay instead. It never acts on keys bound to abilities, and every key still reaches the game.
Requirements
Made for WoW Forever (client 1.60.1). It needs a character with at least one tracking spell. No other addon is needed. EllesmereUI is optional and only changes the look.
