FishFry 1.1.7 - Forever Beta + TBC Anniversary

FishFry 1.1.7 focuses on Forever route accuracy, early-guide polish, Zone Info cleanup, and Fishing collection support while continuing to ship TBC Anniversary and Forever together in one FishFry package.

🧭 Alliance Starter Assist Waypoint Audit Complete

A full in-client NPC waypoint accuracy pass has now been completed for the Alliance Starter Assist journeys.

Audited routes include:

• Elwynn / Stormwind
• Dun Morogh / Ironforge / Loch Modan
• Teldrassil / Darnassus / Darkshore
• Zephras Isle / Alliance

Every Starter Assist waypoint button in those paths was checked against the current Forever beta client.

Corrections from the audit include:

• Stephen Ryback - corrected to 78.17, 53.09
• Baelann Swiftcurrent - corrected to 63.47, 75.73
• Nyalah Brightfire - corrected to 60.64, 72.66

Previously corrected Arnold and Catherine Leland waypoints were also reconfirmed during the Alliance pass.

Coordinates that were already functionally correct were deliberately left alone rather than churned for insignificant rounding differences.

The Horde Starter Assist NPC waypoint audit is planned for late September 25 / early September 26.

🐟 Rare Bloated Fish

• Added known Bloated Fish as rare catches throughout Forever zone data.
• Bloated fish are displayed separately from ordinary edible fish.
• Known bloated catches can now appear in:
  • Zone Info
  • Normal Guide route stages
  • Starter Assist stages
• Added a dedicated Forever zone mapping so all three surfaces use the same bloated-fish data.
• FishFry does not clutter the UI with ordinary gem and jewelry loot tables from bloated fish.
• The focus is simply on letting players know that the rare bloated fish itself can be caught in those waters.

Supported families currently include:

• Bloated Brilliant Smallfish
• Bloated Mackerel
• Bloated Mud Snapper
• Bloated Albacore
• Bloated Bristle Whisker Catfish
• Bloated Mithril Head Trout
• Bloated Redgill
• Bloated Whitescale Salmon

🏆 Weighted Fish Trophies Return

Forever weighted-fish trophies have been restored in a simpler and more useful form.

Instead of treating every possible weight as a separate FishFry milestone, Forever now tracks one trophy milestone per fish family.

Current weighted trophy families include:

• Mud Snapper
• Catfish
• Redgill
• Grouper
• Salmon
• Lobster
• Mightfish

Any weighted version of that fish family completes the milestone.

For example, catching a 10, 12, or 15 Pound Mud Snapper satisfies the same Trophy Mud Snapper goal.

• Existing recorded weighted catches can satisfy the new family milestones.
• Zone Info uses one representative weighted-fish icon for each family.
• The displayed icon represents the trophy family, not a required exact weight.

Zone Info trophy text has also been substantially trimmed:

• Zones with no known trophy fish simply say:
  • No weighted or exact rare trophy is currently listed for this zone.
• Zones with weighted trophy families say:
  • Any weight works for weighted trophy fish family milestones.

No walls of explanatory trophy text.

🗺️ Cleaner Forever Zone Info

Forever Zone Info received a substantial presentation cleanup.

• Zephras Isle now behaves like a Zone Info card, not a second guide.
• Removed long stepped instruction blocks from Zephras Zone Info.
• Removed Starter Assist step numbering from Zone Info NPC/location labels.
• Removed the redundant route-phase section that repeated information already available in the Guide.
• Empty pool sections are hidden.
• Trainer/vendor/location information remains available as compact reference data.
• Fish, rare catches, trophies, pools, and useful local information remain the focus.

Zone Info should now answer:

"What matters in this zone?"

rather than:

"Walk me through the whole route again."

✂️ Less UI Noise

Removed a large amount of development-oriented wording from everyday FishFry surfaces.

Normal Guide, Zone Info, Journal, Options, item labels, and tackle surfaces no longer repeatedly remind players that data is:

• beta-era;
• provisional;
• inherited from TBC;
• based on mature TBC data;
• awaiting additional confirmation.

That information is still retained where it belongs in About / project information, but it no longer crowds the working Fishing and Cooking UI.

🧭 Starter Assist Presentation Cleanup

Starter Assist path names now describe the actual journey rather than only the race or destination city.

Examples include:

• Elwynn / Stormwind
• Dun Morogh / Ironforge
• Teldrassil / Darnassus
• Durotar / Orgrimmar
• Mulgore / Thunder Bluff
• Tirisfal / Undercity
• Zephras Isle / Alliance
• Zephras Isle / Horde

The live Starter Assist surface has also been simplified.

• Removed repeated "Journey Mode" explanations.
• Removed duplicate descriptions of how Starter Assist differs from the normal Guide.
• Starter Assist now gets to the actual route faster.
• Deeper explanation remains available through Quick Start and contextual UI instead of being repeated above every route.

Starter Assist remains the full fresh-character journey from the starting zone forward.

The normal Fishing + Cooking Guide remains the progress-aware guide that focuses on where the character currently is in progression.

👋 Quick Start Persistence Fixed

The Forever Quick Start screen is now once per character, not once per FishFry version.

A character that already completed Quick Start in 1.1.6 or an earlier 1.1.7 build should not receive another splash simply because FishFry updated.

• Existing Quick Start records migrate forward.
• Character identity now prefers the player's GUID.
• Different characters maintain independent Quick Start state.
• A brand-new character receives Quick Start once.
• Returning characters that already handled it stay out of the way.
• Guide mode and Starter Assist path remain changeable later through FishFry Options.

🪟 Guide Popups Close With the Guide

Closing the FishFry Guide now also dismisses its associated transient windows instead of leaving them floating on screen.

This includes:

• waypoint chooser;
• Starter Assist selector;
• Zone Info selector;
• project-page copy window;
• key-capture popup.

These windows now behave like parts of the Guide instead of independent windows the player has to close one by one.

🔪 Chef's Knife Progression

Added Chef's Knife to the later Forever Fishing progression for both factions.

FishFry now introduces it when it becomes relevant rather than telling fresh characters to carry one around unnecessarily.

• Requires Fishing 275
• Added to the late Alliance and Horde guide progression.
• FishFry documents its verified use preparing:
  • Raw Winter Squid
  • Raw Summer Bass
• Those preparations create Seasonal Fish Steaks.
• Seasonal Fish Steaks feed into the Fishing Hut progression at Fishing 300.
• Zone Info can list Chef's Knife in documented vendor zones.

🎣 Guide and Data Consistency

The 1.1.7 work continues the effort to keep the same Forever fishing information consistent across:

• Starter Assist
• Normal Guide
• Zone Info
• Journal / trophy milestones

Rare catches, weighted trophies, NPC locations, and route data should no longer be maintained as unrelated one-off UI facts wherever a shared data path is practical.

With the Alliance Starter Assist NPC waypoint audit complete, the next route-accuracy pass will cover the Horde starter journeys.

Planned for late September 25 / early September 26:

• Mulgore / Thunder Bluff
• Tirisfal / Undercity
• Zephras Isle / Horde where faction-specific mainland routing applies

The goal is to get the waypoint/location layer trustworthy first, so later Fishing and Cooking progression testing can focus on the actual profession journey instead of stopping repeatedly to troubleshoot bad directions.
