EversongUnitFrames Vers. 0.8
What's new
Eversong Unit Frames 0.8
Updated for patch 12.1.5.
New
Put me first. Your own frame goes to the top of the party or raid block, whatever the sort method does with everybody else. Sort method and sort order still apply to the others: you stay first either way, and reversing the order turns the rest around you rather than turning the block upside down.
One thing to know: the list is written outside combat, so somebody who joins the group in the middle of a fight has no frame until the fight ends. Everybody already in the group is unaffected. /eversong groupheader says whether it is running.
Battleground frames. Five frames for the enemy flag, orb and cart carriers, as one block with one set of settings. Place the first and the rest follow, in whichever direction you choose with the gap you choose. An empty slot keeps its place rather than closing up, so the carrier you are chasing does not move under the cursor when somebody else drops the flag. Incoming heals are shaded on them too, which on your own side answers "is somebody already healing this person" and here answers the opposite and more urgent question: is the healing landing faster than your damage, and is it worth spending a kick or a stun before it does.
A totem bar. The totems you have out, as a row of icons under the player frame, each with the countdown swipe running on it and right-click to dismiss the one you point at, the same gesture the default UI uses. It appears for any character with totem slots and stays out of the way of everyone else, and ticking it on takes Blizzard's own row away.
The row keeps a slot's place whether or not anything is standing in it, so the bar does not change width mid-fight and the totem you are watching does not move under the cursor when another one expires. That is deliberate: in combat the game no longer tells addons which slots are occupied, and a row that re-packed itself would be guessing.
Cyrillic, Korean and Chinese names should now show up. A Russian or Chinese player's name has been a row of boxes on Eversong's frames while the game's own frames showed it correctly.
Class colours are back on enemy players. Target an opposing player and the health bar has been a plain gradient since Midnight, because the game stops telling addons what class somebody is once they are outside your group. It still does not tell us and it turns out it does not have to. The class goes back to the game as the sealed value it arrived as, and what comes back is a colour, so the bar is painted correctly by something that never learned who it was painting.
A battleground objective badge. The flag, orb, cart or bounty icon appears on whoever is carrying one. On your player, target and focus frames and on the party and raid blocks. The game draws these on nameplates and nowhere else of its own accord, so a raid frame has never told you who has the flag.
Fixed
No more blocked-action error when somebody joins your party mid-fight: The other half of the fix that went into 0.7. That release stopped the error coming from setting up a frame's mouse buttons; the very next line, which tells the game to show and hide a frame along with the unit it belongs to, is protected in exactly the same way and was missed. The frames it affects are the small ones riding on a party member: their target and their pet.
A group layout setting changed during a fight is no longer left waiting. Those changes have always been queued until combat ends, because moving frames mid-fight is not allowed. But nothing was watching for the end of the fight on their behalf, so they were applied whenever some other part of the addon happened to wake up. They now have their own timer and land the moment you leave combat.
An empowered cast no longer breaks the cast bar in a battleground. An enemy Evoker holding a spell could throw an error and leave the target's cast bar blank for that cast. Drawing the stage markers means measuring how wide the bar is, and in a PvP match the game stops answering: everything that bar shows there — the spell, its icon, its timings — is withheld from addons, and a bar that has drawn withheld values will no longer report its own size either.
The 3D portrait no longer comes back blank after a loading screen: Also shipped on its own as 0.7.1, and listed here for anyone coming straight from 0.7.
Charged combo points (Rogue) still ship untested, because I do not play the class. A bug report is very welcome — the empower stage markers were in the same position two releases ago and a report is exactly what fixed them.
