English Item Names

Adds the English name to every item tooltip, and under it the English text saying what the item does. Follow guides and talk to your guild while playing in another language. 168,833 items.

QuestWordHunter — English Item Names

Someone links an item in chat. Your guild is arguing about which trinket to take. A guide tells you to keep the one with haste on it.

All of that is in English. Your client says Donnerzorn, Ruhestein, Messinghalsband. You know perfectly well what the item does — you just cannot join the conversation about it.

This adds the English name under the one the game already shows you, and under that, the English Use: and Equip: lines.

168,833 items. 34,022 of them say what they do; the rest are ore, cloth and vendor trash the game has no text for in any language.

What you need

  • Retail 12.1 (Interface 120100)
  • English Quest Panel — this pack does nothing on its own
  • A client in another language. Playing in English, it stays quiet.

Good to know

The numbers in the English lines are the game's own stock values and are not scaled to your character, so a potion may name a different figure than the tooltip above it. The name and the wording are what this is for.

A few items have no English name on record. Their tooltip is left alone — nothing is guessed.

Why this is separate

Item names and their text come to about fifteen megabytes, more than everything else in the panel put together. Spell and creature names are small enough that the panel simply includes them. These you take only if you want them.
