Description

Earned: Self Found

Every copper, every item, every level: earned.

Earned is a self-found tracker for WoW Forever. It enforces the self-found rules, records your whole journey in detail, and lets other players vouch that your run is legit.

No trading. No auction house. No mail from friends. Just you and the world.

Beta: Earned is new. If anything looks wrong (a status you didn't expect, a false warning), please open an issue and include what the Log tab shows.

The Earned window showing a clean run

Your run, at a glance

Every character has a status, shown in the addon window, on the minimap button, and in player tooltips:

  • 🟢 CLEAN: fully self-found, all play time accounted for.
  • 🟡 UNVERIFIED: some play time happened without the addon running (disabled, out of date, or a game crash nobody witnessed), or the addon was installed on a character that already had play time.
  • 🔴 DISQUALIFIED: a rule was broken. It's permanent, and it's recorded with what happened and when.

The rules

Your run is disqualified immediately if you:

  • Complete a trade where any item, gold, or enchant changes hands. Opening or cancelling a trade window is fine.
  • Bid on, buy out, or list an auction. Browsing the auction house is fine.
  • Take items or gold from mail another player sent (including COD). Your own returned mail, NPC mail, and auction house mail are fine.
  • Withdraw from a guild bank.
  • Edit the addon's saved data outside the game.

Disqualification alert

A clear warning banner appears whenever a trade, auction, mail, or guild bank window is open, so you never break a rule by accident.

Warning banner above the trade window

Grouping, dungeons, and playing with friends are allowed.

What it tracks

  • Gold ledger: every copper you earn, split by source (looted gold, quest rewards, vendor sales, mail, other). Everything you spend, split by category (vendors, repairs, training, flights, fees).
  • Net worth: your gold plus the vendor value of everything in your bags, equipped, and in your bank, with your all-time peak. Sell an item and its value becomes gold. Destroy it and it's gone.
  • Stats: deaths, kills, quests, levels, items looted, sold, and destroyed, trades, auction house visits.
  • Event log: a full history of your run: level-ups, deaths, violations, and more.

Witnesses: runs other players can vouch for

When guild or group members also run Earned, your addons quietly exchange status updates and keep records of each other's progress. Those records live on their computers, so nobody can erase what their witnesses saw.

  • See who has witnessed your run, and whose runs you've witnessed.
  • Hover any player to see their self-found status.
  • Share my run: copy your run with a verification code to post on Discord, Reddit, or anywhere else.
  • Check a shared run: paste someone's run and their profile opens with it, next to your own records, their witness record and any flags.

Witnesses tab

Tamper-evident

Every log entry is chained to the one before it, and your saved data is sealed. Editing the file by hand is detected on the next login and disqualifies the run. Play time is checked against the server's /played, so time played with the addon turned off shows up.

Honest note: no addon can be 100% cheat-proof, because it all runs on your own computer. Earned makes cheating detectable and costly, and witnesses make a run verifiable. The more witnesses you have, the stronger your claim.

Check any player

Search for a player in the Witnesses tab (or type /sf check <name>) to open their profile: their status, their Witness Record, a timeline of everything your addon recorded of them, and with one click, what every other witness in your guild and group recorded. A player can fake their own addon, but not what everyone else's recorded.

If someone who runs Earned is online but their addon goes quiet for 5 minutes, witnesses notice and record it as online without Earned.

Crashes are recovered by witnesses

The game only saves addon data when you log out or /reload, so a hard crash loses the play time since then. If guild or group members running Earned were online, they heard from your addon right up until the crash. For 7 days after the crash, your addon asks them whenever you're both online, and once one confirms it, your run is restored to CLEAN. Each recovery shows which witnesses confirmed it.

Join a guild made for Earned and self-found players! More witnesses means crashes get recovered and your run is vouched for by more people.

The Witness Record

Every witness remembers which hours of your played time they heard your addon in. When someone checks you, all answers are combined into one record:

  • A bar of your played time, filled where other players' addons can account for it: "36 of 42 played hours witnessed by 27 players".
  • Flags (see below), each with the name of the witness who caught it.
  • A plain verdict: Well witnessed (75%+ of hours, from 3+ witnesses), Partly witnessed or Barely witnessed.

It's calculated by the person checking, from everyone else's records, so it can't be faked. It fills up as you play with other Earned players.

Flags: nobody can hide what witnesses saw

If a player's addon said DISQUALIFIED and later claims a clean run, or they play without Earned running, the witnesses who saw it flag them. Flags are signed with the witness's name, shared with every Earned player in the guild and group, and shown in that player's tooltip once 2 or more players reported them, no matter what the player's own addon claims. One troll alone can't flag anyone into trouble, and flags never change anyone's status: they're evidence with names attached.

Who was there

When witnesses see you level up or die, your log shows it: "Reached level 20, witnessed by 3".

Nobody can grief your run

Your status only ever changes because of what you do. Other players' addons can help recover a crash, but they can never disqualify you or make you Unverified. What witnesses report is shown with their names, as information for whoever is checking, never enforced. Messages from players outside your guild or group are ignored.

Getting started

  1. Install Earned before creating your character. A run started later is marked Unverified.
  2. Log in. Tracking starts automatically.
  3. Type /sf or click the shield on the minimap to open the window.
  4. Play, and earn everything.

Commands

  • /sf: open or close the window
  • /sf status: print your run status
  • /sf share: share my run
  • /sf verify: check a shared run
  • /sf check <name>: open a player's profile
  • /sf minimap: show or hide the minimap button
  • /sf broadcast: share your progress with guild and group right now

FAQ

Can I group and do dungeons? Yes. Only trading, the auction house, player mail, and guild bank withdrawals break the rules. Your own bank is fine.

What if my game crashes? The play time since your last logout or /reload is lost, so your run shows as Unverified (not Disqualified) at first. But if guild or group members running Earned were online during the crash, they can confirm it: for 7 days, your addon asks them whenever you're both online, and as soon as one confirms it, your run is restored to Clean. If no witness confirms it within 7 days, the run stays Unverified.

Do I have to log out properly? No. Logging out, Alt+F4, disconnects and slow loading screens are all fine: the time the server keeps your character in the world after you leave isn't held against you.

The game says the addon is out of date after a patch. Tick Load out of date AddOns on the character select screen, or wait for the update before playing. Play time without the addon running makes a run Unverified.

What does the addon share with other players? Only your self-found status, level, played time, deaths, quest count, class, and number of violations, and only with guild and group members running Earned. Sharing is always on: that's what makes witnessing trustworthy.
