Cursor World Tooltip

Cursor World Tooltip is a lightweight quality-of-life addon that keeps WoW’s main tooltip close to your mouse cursor.

It makes tooltips easier to read with smooth cursor tracking and consistent fading for world signs, without adding configuration panels or external dependencies.

Features

• Smooth cursor tracking with a 60 Hz update target.
• World-sign tooltips remain visible for one second after the cursor leaves, then fade smoothly over one second.
• Player, NPC and pet world tooltips use the same hold and fade on Classic-family clients and Forever.
• Stable NPC name colors during combat tooltip refreshes on Classic and Forever.
• Standalone player class names use their standard class colors on Classic and Forever.
• Lightweight and dependency-free.
• No configuration required.

Supported clients

• World of Warcraft Retail and Retail PTR
• World of Warcraft Forever beta
• Classic Era
• The Burning Crusade Classic
• Mists of Pandaria Classic

Compatibility

Cursor World Tooltip uses Blizzard’s main tooltip and preserves its normal content building, sizing and clamping.

Chat hyperlinks are excluded from cursor tracking, improving compatibility with addons that modify chat links or tooltip content.

Retail unit tooltips retain Blizzard’s native visibility behavior. World objects that already use native fading, such as forges, keep that behavior.

New tooltip content immediately replaces a fading sign. Protected or restricted tooltip content remains under the client’s control.

Addons that also reposition, rebuild or hide the main tooltip may interact with its behavior.

Goal

Keep tooltips close to the cursor, with smooth transitions and as little interference as possible with the rest of the UI.
