Description

Counterclock - Enemy Cooldowns for Duels
Your duel opponent's cooldowns, on a client that hides them.

WoW Forever runs on the modern addon rules: an addon cannot read the combat log, cannot see which spell another player casts, and cannot see anyone's buffs or debuffs in combat. Enemy cooldown trackers go blank. Counterclock works with what the client still allows, and nothing else.

WHAT IT DOES

Knows your opponent. Challenge or target them and the bar fills with their class's cooldowns at level 30 and their race's racials, read from the Forever client's own spell and talent tables. Once the duel starts the opponent stays locked, whatever else you click.

Starts timers by itself when their crowd control lands on you. When you are interrupted, stunned, feared, rooted or polymorphed, the client tells you which spell did it, so that cooldown starts counting with no key pressed: Kick, Kidney Shot, Gouge, Intimidating Shout, Charge, Hammer of Justice, Frost Nova, Counterspell and the rest.

Shows what they cast, when it has a cast bar. The client tells addons about another player's spell only if it has a cast time: heals, Polymorph, Fear, Frostbolt, Mind Blast, Aimed Shot. Those line up as icons above the bar, drawn by the client itself even though no addon may read them; hover one for its tooltip. Instant spells such as Kick, Charge or Blink never reach any addon, so against melee the strip stays mostly empty. It reads from your target, focus or their nameplate. /ccl strip turns it off.

One key for everything else. When you see an escape, a defensive or a racial, press its key. The eight keys mean the same job against every class (Interrupt, CC, Escape, Defensive, Utility, Racial, Potion, Bombs), so you learn them once.

Items count too. Every grenade, bomb, mortar and dynamite shares one 60 second cooldown with nets, Magic Dust and the other combat items, and all potions share 2 minutes, so one timer covers each group. A stun trinket or a net that hits you appears with its own timer.

Tracks diminishing returns. Forever uses Classic's steps: full, half, a quarter, then immune, resetting about 15 seconds after the last one ends. Every stun, fear, root and incapacitate on you is measured from how long it really lasted, so the bar shows what the next one will do. Your own crowd control on them is tracked the same way, as an estimate. When an interrupt locks a school, the bar says which one and for how long, so you know what you can still cast.

Stays out of the way. The bar appears by itself when a duel is challenged or starts and leaves 30 seconds after it ends. The minimap button switches Counterclock on or off (left-click) or keeps the bar up all the time (right-click).

Remembers between rounds. Timers belong to the opponent, so a three minute cooldown used in round one is still counting in round two, and your results against each opponent are kept.

HOW TO USE IT

1. Bind the keys: Esc, Options, Keybindings, Counterclock.
2. Challenge or target your opponent. The bar shows their class and race.
3. Fight. Their crowd control on you starts their timers; press your keys for what you see them use. Click any icon to start it, right-click to clear it.
4. A cooldown that comes back flashes and plays a sound.

COMMANDS

/ccl lists every command.
/ccl on, /ccl off and /ccl auto switch it, like the minimap button. /ccl minimap hides or shows the button.
/ccl test shows the bar with a 10 second timer.
/ccl class rogue and /ccl race troll set the opponent by hand.
/ccl cd kick 8 changes a cooldown a talent has shortened.
/ccl log shows what started by itself. /ccl results shows your duels.
/ccl lock, unlock, scale, reset, strip, sound.

WHAT IT CANNOT DO

It never sees the cooldowns your opponent uses on themselves, such as Vanish, Blink, Ice Block or Evasion. You press the key when you see them, so they run a moment late by your reaction time.
Crowd control that is resisted, dodged or blocked by an immunity never lands, so it starts nothing.
A trap or a root starts its timer when it catches you, not when it was placed, so it may be ready sooner than shown.
Cooldowns a talent shortens show at their trainer value until you set them with /ccl cd.
It reads nothing the client hides and does not touch the combat log, so it works inside the client's rules rather than around them.
