Changelog
1.8.2
- Fixed: the base layer's face buttons were blank in WoW Forever's gamepad mode. Forever runs fixed jobs on them (such as Jump) instead of using action slots, so CompactPad now shows the icon Forever draws on each one. As in Forever, nothing can be placed on them.
/cpad scannow lists every image and text drawn on the base layer's face buttons.
1.8.1
- Fixed: the "CompactPad has been blocked from an action only available to the Blizzard UI" popup. CompactPad no longer adds to, reorders or closes the game's Esc menu, and no longer puts its windows on the game's Esc-to-close list.
- The CompactPad button now sits just under the Esc menu instead of inside it. Settings opened from it close together with the Esc menu.
- Removed a stray build file from the download.
1.8.0
- The settings can now also be opened from a CompactPad button in the Esc menu, from Options → AddOns → CompactPad, and from the addon list under the minimap.
1.7.0
- New "Buttons follow → Gamepad bar" mode, picked automatically the first time in WoW Forever's gamepad mode. CompactPad reads your spells straight from Forever's own gamepad bar, including the bars Forever shows for possess, friendly targets and hostile targets.
- Triggers are now read from the controller itself, so RT switches layers even though Forever doesn't treat it as a modifier key.
- If Forever pages a single bar when you hold a trigger, CompactPad learns each layer the first time you hold it. Until then, that layer's preview shows "(hold once)".
- CompactPad no longer overrides the bumpers in Forever's gamepad mode, since Forever uses them for targeting and menus.
/cpad scannow summarizes every gamepad bar, then records for 20 seconds what changes while you hold each trigger.
1.6.0
- Hides WoW Forever's built-in gamepad action bar. It stays active underneath, so controller presses keep working. Turn this off with
/cpad gamepadbar offor in the settings. - New
/cpad hideframe <FrameName>command to hide any other piece of the built-in UI. Run it again to show the frame. - Buttons no longer show raw "CLICK …" binding text.
- New
/cpad scancommand, which collects gamepad bar details for bug reports.
1.5.1
- Fixed: "Incompatible" in WoW Forever's AddOns list. CompactPad now declares Forever's interface number (16001).
- Added an addon icon to the AddOns list.
- Works with clients that moved the action bar functions to
C_ActionBar. - Fixed: a possible error when the game hides range information during combat.
1.5.0
- Opacity settings (10%–100%) for the main layer and the other layers.
- In Separate mode, each layer can have its own opacity: unlock, hold Shift and scroll over it.
- Unlocked overlays show each layer's current size and opacity, and stay fully visible however faint a layer is set.
- The resize grip and hints stay at normal size on very small layers.
1.4.1
- Added a Main layer size control to the settings window.
- Shows a message when you try to resize the main layer during combat. The game doesn't allow it.
1.4.0
- Separate mode for other layers: move and size L2, R2 and L2 + R2 individually anywhere on screen.
- Fixed: after
/cpad reset, moving or resizing the other-layers panel wasn't saved.
1.3.0
- Other layers: smaller previews of the L2, R2 and L2 + R2 layers, side by side or stacked, with their own size and position. The layer you're holding lights up.
- Bumper targeting: LB / L1 targets friends and RB / R1 targets enemies, with a choice of friendly players only or anyone friendly.
- Removed the gryphon end caps.
- The settings window now has two columns, so it fits on smaller screens.
1.2.0
- Follows your controller bindings by default, so spells bound from the spellbook's Bind Mode show up automatically. The previous behavior is still available as CompactPad's own slots.
- New Forever look using the game's own action-button art, plus the original round look.
- The settings window now uses the game's standard window frame.
1.1.0
- The D-pad buttons now show arrows.
- Xbox and PlayStation button icons, detected automatically from the connected controller, or picked by hand.
- New settings window (
/cpad), with layer tabs for mapping spells. You can drag a spell onto a button, or pick one up and click a button to drop it there. - Sets up the triggers to switch layers if they aren't already.
1.0.0
- First release: one small, controller-shaped cluster (D-pad and face buttons) that shows only the layer you're holding. Hold LT, RT or both to switch layers.
- Unlock to move it, and resize it by dragging the corner or scrolling.
- Idle fade out of combat, an optional single-row layout, and an option to hide the default action bars.
