What's new

# Codex of Azerothian Expressions — 1.0.1

## Fixes and Stability

- Fixed an issue where switching between custom expressions could replace the loaded text with content from the previously opened expression.
- Preserved new custom drafts during normal refreshes and searches, and when closing and reopening the book within the same session.
- Prevented reselecting the currently edited expression from overwriting unsaved changes.
- Fixed sorting errors when custom expressions and standard emotes share the same name in Favorites.
- Added complete pre-validation for BOTH actions, including base-emote availability, channel requirements and text length after placeholder replacement. Predictable validation failures no longer execute only the standard emote.
- Corrected custom expression commands, properties and faction restrictions to reflect the actions enabled by the selected execution mode.
- Fixed duplication of long custom names while preserving valid UTF-8 characters.
- Improved handling of outdated selection callbacks and confirmation dialogs.

## Interface

- Kept the selected entry and detail view consistent with filtered search results.
- Prevented empty search results from leaving an unrelated expression available through the Perform button.
- Updated Recent immediately after performing an expression from that view.
- Fixed overlapping Perform and Edit Custom buttons.
- Closed editor selection windows and menus when their parent interface closes.
- Prevented unavailable window coordinates from triggering unnecessary position resets.
- Preserved book scale when correcting an off-screen position.
- Synchronized scale controls after resets and when opening Settings without rounding or rewriting existing saved values.

## Minimap Button

- Replaced the previous rectangular 42 × 42 appearance with a compact, circular 31 × 31 button.
- Added a circular icon mask and Blizzard minimap textures while retaining the Codex icon.
- Preserved free positioning, saved scale, visibility, locking and existing click actions.
- Corrected positioning across different button and UI scales.
- Improved position saving when the button is hidden during dragging.
- No additional library or dependency is required.

## Performance and Cleanup

- Reduced redundant book and list refreshes.
- Avoided repeated row layout calculations when dimensions have not changed.
- Prepared search terms once per filtering operation instead of once per entry.
- Reused filtered results when scrolling the base-emote picker.
- Removed unused diagnostic bookkeeping, channel metadata and hidden slider code while preserving mouse-wheel navigation.

## Data Safety and Diagnostics

- Improved handling of malformed icon identifiers and invalid numeric settings.
- Prevented initialization from modifying data created by an unsupported newer database schema.
- Separated structural catalog validation from confirmed client emote mappings.
- Preserved valid settings, Favorites, Recent entries and custom expressions.
- SavedVariables remain on schema 3; this update introduces no new database migration.

## Release Information

- Updated the addon version to 1.0.1.
- Set the author to ArcAnvil.
- Retained Retail interface 120100.
- Preserved the existing emote catalog, categories and book artwork.
- Validation was performed using static checks and simulated Lua tests, not an in-game test.

**Note:** Unsaved custom drafts are not retained through /reload or logout. Back up SavedVariables before updating.
