What's new

0.5.0 — First Public Beta

Chronicle Tome's first public release. Everything below is new. This version establishes the foundation: fact capture, literary generation, persistence, and the reader interface.

✨ Added — Capture

  • Quests — accepted, completed, abandoned, with giver and delivery NPC tracking

  • Exploration — first-time zone discoveries, zone returns after long absences

  • Progression — level ups, chapter milestones every 10 levels, achievements

  • Combat — player deaths, kills, first kills per creature category, PvP kills and PvP deaths

  • Instances — dungeon and raid entry, exit, and boss victories (first + repeat)

  • Economy — gold milestones, item sales to vendors, item purchases, rare loot

  • Professions — skill increases, recipe learning (when the client exposes it)

  • Collections — mounts and companions obtained

  • Ambient — campfire damage, contemplation periods (opt-in)

  • Daily — automatic end-of-day summary with counters

✨ Added — Narrative

  • 50 literary styles — Grimdark, Cozy Fantasy, Memoir, Romantasy, Enemies to Lovers, Fake Dating, Slow Burn, Dark Romance, Regency, Contemporary, Grumpy x Sunshine, Cozy Mystery, Domestic Thriller, Locked-Room, Nordic Noir, Psychological Thriller, True Crime, Legal Thriller, Medical Thriller, High Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Magical Realism, Mythological Retelling, Cyberpunk, Space Opera, Classic, Hard Sci-Fi, Dystopian, Solarpunk, Time Travel, Post-Apocalyptic, Dark Academia, Cottagecore, Gothic Horror, Cosmic Horror, Climate Fiction, Historical Fiction, Coming-of-Age, Family Saga, Satire, Self-Help, Pop Science, Essays, Philosophy for Life, Epistolar, Light Novel, Graphic Novel, Flash Fiction, Minimalist Prose, Multiverse, and more

  • Six narrator voices — Neutral, Poetic, Objective, Ironic, Solemn, Confessional

  • Three narrative forms — Diary, Memoir, Chronicle

  • Race + class voices — dedicated narrative voice for specific combinations (Night Elf Rogue included in this beta)

  • Style overrides per event — each style can rewrite event text, not just add framing

  • Continuity engine — memory of recent openings, closures, reflections, and metaphors prevents repetition

  • Reflection inheritance — styles inherit from their family (Romance, Mystery, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Memory, Form)

  • Deterministic generation — same event with same profile always produces identical text

✨ Added — Interface

  • Book-style timeline — paginated view with parchment pages, day headers, and page numbers

  • Index panel — chapters, arcs, milestones, named entities, relationships, and annotations

  • Profile panel — graphical editor for style, voice, form, and parameters (Humor, Poetry, Introspection, Drama)

  • Period filters — All, Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days

  • Full-text search — search across every generated entry

  • Style preview — side-by-side comparison of three styles using your real events

  • Export window — copy biography as plain text or structured data

✨ Added — Sharing & Privacy

  • Four export privacy levels — full, narrative, public, summary

  • Structured export — Lua-serialized payload, reimportable

  • Safe import — merges without overwriting, never duplicates, renames conflicting IDs

  • Manual annotations — attach personal notes to any event

  • Relationship tracking — document companions, rivals, mentors, family, friends manually

  • Optional external AI workflow — build a factual prompt, paste into any external tool, paste result back; validated against facts before saving as annotation. No network requests made by the addon.

✨ Added — Localization

  • English (enUS) — full narrative pools and UI strings

  • Portuguese (ptBR) — full narrative pools and UI strings

  • Spanish (esMX) — full narrative pools and UI strings

  • Per-account locale override — /chr locale auto or /chr locale <code>

✨ Added — Infrastructure

  • Versioned data schema — every event carries a stable ID, schema version, capture source, and confidence level

  • Automatic migrations — schema upgrades back up data before changing anything

  • Deduplication — events filtered by stable key and time window

  • Integrity verification — /chr doctor and /chr integrity report issues

  • Self-test suite — /chr test runs 16 unit checks on the core

  • Graceful degradation — uncertain API calls wrapped so the addon never breaks the session

⚙️ How It Works

  1. Install and log in

  2. Play the game as you always do

  3. Open /chr — your autobiography is already being written

  4. Choose style, voice, and form — future entries adapt

You don't write. You live. Chronicle Tome remembers.

🐛 Known Limitations (Beta)

  • Text pools still expanding — some event types have fewer variations than others; repetition can still occur in long play sessions

  • Not all styles have unique per-event text yet — styles inherit from family pools, so similar-family styles (e.g. Romantasy and Contemporary Romance) may sound alike

  • Some capture paths depend on client APIs — certain events (PvP, instances, bosses) require the client to expose the relevant data; if unavailable, those events simply won't be recorded

  • No cross-player sharing — addons cannot access other players' data; sharing must be manual via export/import

  • External AI workflow is manual — no automation, by design

📣 Feedback Welcome

This is a beta. Bug reports, missing features, style suggestions, and text-quality complaints all help shape the roadmap. Please leave them in the comments.

💬 A Note on Versioning

Chronicle Tome follows semantic versioning once it leaves beta. During beta, minor versions (0.5.0 → 0.6.0) may include breaking changes to text output while the narrative engine stabilizes. Your stored events are never lost — only the way future entries are written may change.
