Description
Challenge Accepted
Pick a main challenge for your class. Stack any add-ons you want on top. The addon tracks it all.
Challenge Accepted is a self-found/hardcore challenge tracker for WoW Classic Era. Pick a class, pick its main challenge, and layer on any number of universal add-on challenges for extra difficulty — the addon watches every rule for you in the background, logs a running Day-by-day story of your run, and closes it out the moment it's over. Built for Hardcore ruleset realms: death is already permanent there, so the addon focuses on tracking your story and enforcing the self-imposed rules layered on top of it, not re-implementing what the realm already does.
How it works
- Click the minimap button (or type
/ca) to open the challenge picker. - Each class's challenge list is split into two sections: Main Challenge (pick one — that's your character's core identity for the run) and Add-On Challenges (stack any number of these alongside it for extra difficulty).
- Some challenges offer a choice at start (a damage school, a demon type, a pet) that locks in permanently.
- Only one main challenge at a time, but add-ons stack freely. If your main challenge fails, every active add-on ends with it — there's no run left for them to be attached to. If an add-on fails on its own, only that one ends; your main challenge and any other add-ons keep going.
- The tracking view shows exactly what's currently active, including an "Also active: X, Y" note whenever something else is stacked alongside whatever you're looking at.
- Every run gets a running Day N milestone log. Violations get their own live count and a one-click Show Violations Only filter, so nothing gets buried in a long history.
- Rule breaks either hard-fail the run immediately or get logged as a violation (an honor-system strike that doesn't end anything) — each challenge tells you upfront which of its rules carry which consequence.
Every class covered, plus four add-ons anyone can stack
Add-On Challenges (stack any of these alongside your main challenge, any class):
- Naked — no gear or weapons of any kind, for the entire run.
- Goldlocked — locked to your starting zone. The next zone is a free pass; after that, farm and hold enough gold to unlock each new zone (10g, then 20g, then 30g...). Fighting in a zone you haven't unlocked yet ends the run; just passing through doesn't.
- The Wanderer — no mounts, no flight paths, no hearthstone, no teleport/portal spells, ever. Boats and zeppelins are fine — walk or swim everywhere else.
- One Bag — the default 16-slot backpack, forever. No extra bags equipped, ever (your bank is untouched).
Rogue — The Thief Self-Found required. Every piece of gear must trace back to Crafted, Fished, Pickpocketed, or Chest-Found — no mob drops, no vendor gear, no trading. Optional Solo Only toggle at start: never join a group, for any reason.
Hunter — The DPS Hunter / The One / The Marksman Three challenges: no pet at all, or tame exactly one pet after the taming quest and keep it for life, or go fully ranged with zero melee — not even unarmed — for the whole run.
Paladin — The Monk Classic has no real Monk class, so this simulates one: fighting unarmed, no shields, cloth or leather armor only.
Mage — The Specialist / Battle Mage Choose Arcane, Fire, or Frost at the start of The Specialist — all intentional spell damage must come from that school, and melee is banned entirely (any wand is fine — Classic's combat log can't reliably tell which school a wand actually deals, so that restriction was dropped). Battle Mage flips the whole premise: strictly instant-cast combat spells only, fighting up close with a sword or dagger (staff permitted only before level 10) — wanding stays legal here too.
Warrior — Barbarian Leather armor only, no helmet, ever. No Auction House purchases for the whole run.
Druid — The Shapeshifter / The Purist Two opposite takes: fight only in Bear (then Bear or Cat once it unlocks at 20), or the total inverse — never shift into any form at all, full-caster the entire run.
Shaman — The Leatherworking Shaman / Elemental Purist Every piece of armor must be both Leather and self-crafted by your own hands, or lock into Fire, Frost, or Nature as your only damage school for life (melee stays legal the whole time — Shamans can't wand anyway).
Priest — The Healer's Watch / Shadow Purist While you're in any group, you're the healer — if anyone dies, the run ends, no exceptions. Or lock into Shadow as your only damage school; Holy nukes are out, but healing, buffs, wand, and melee are all untouched.
Warlock — The Demon Bond Choose Succubus or Imp at the start. That demon — or no pet at all — is the only pet you'll ever use again, even through death and revival.
Quality-of-life features
- My Characters roster: a dedicated view (button in the picker, or
/ca roster) listing every character you've played with the addon and their current challenge status — built for anyone juggling several runs on different alts at once. - Action-bar nudges on a couple of challenges (Mage) proactively warn you if an off-school or cast-time damage spell is sitting on your bars, before it can ever be misclicked into a failure.
- Addon-to-addon visibility: mouse over another player who also has Challenge Accepted installed and has an active run, and you'll see their challenge (or "+N more" if they've got several stacked) in their tooltip. (This only works between two Challenge Accepted users — there's no way for an addon to show anything to players who don't have it.)
- Manual backstops where the game genuinely can't tell the difference between a legitimate edge case and a violation — e.g.
/ca relockpetfor the rare case a One-Pet Hunter's pet has to be re-tamed from scratch after dying unrevived.
Commands
/ca— open the challenge window/ca status— list every active challenge on this character/ca concede— end your main challenge as a failure (cascades to any add-ons);/ca concede <name>ends one specific add-on instead/ca roster— open the My Characters list/ca zones— (Goldlocked) see your unlocked zones, current gold, and what's next/ca relockpet— (One-Pet Hunter) re-lock onto your current pet after a legitimate identity loss
Notes
- Every challenge must be started at level 1 — these are meant to be whole-character commitments, not something you retrofit onto a leveled-up character.
- Built and tested for Classic Era, and specifically written with Hardcore ruleset realms in mind.
- All detection runs client-side and is honor-system at its core, the same as any self-imposed challenge — the addon is here to track your run and hold you accountable to the rules you already know you signed up for, not to police anyone.
