CastAhead

CastAhead tells you what a mob in Mythic+ is about to cast and what to do about it. It watches enemy nameplates, works out which spell is coming and when the next one is due, puts a countdown icon next to the plate, says the answer out loud and shows it in the middle of the screen.

What it does

• Knows the cast without reading it. Since 12.1 addons can't read what an enemy is casting. CastAhead times the cast bar and matches it against every trash cast in the season's dungeons, then narrows it down by the gap since the mob's last cast and by the spells that creature has.
• Says what to do, not the spell name: "interrupt", "dispel poison", "tank buster", "dodge".
• Counts down to the next cast. Each mob's cooldowns are stored as the cycle it really repeats, so the countdown lands on the right cast.
• Shows only what you can act on: hand-picked important casts that your spec can answer.
• Feeds Blizzard's encounter timeline with the predictions it is sure of.

Out of the box only this core is on: nameplate icons, the timeline, the centre call, sound and voice. Everything else is switched off until you turn it on in General - Features.

Optional features

• Defensive calls in dungeons. CastAhead says "defensive" and shows icons of the buttons you can press right now. It calls hits whose whole damage (the hit, its damage over time, pulses and stacks) would kill you at +20 and that top players press a defensive for. Tanks only get tank busters. Each spec has its own button list, which you can reorder and edit. Boss abilities are called from DBM or BigWigs timers.
• Raid (experimental): defensive calls in raids, and burst windows, which say "burst soon" and "burst now" before boss phases where top players save their cooldowns.
• Guide and Saves pages in the /ca window: a cheat sheet for each dungeon with every hit that gets a call, your buttons, when the hit comes and how hard it hits at +20.

Commands

• /ca opens the window, /ca options opens the settings
• /ca test plays sample calls on nearby enemies
• /ca move lets you move the centre call
• /ca debug shows what the addon sees right now
