Description
Boon
One-click buffs for the player you just targeted.
Boon looks at the player you have targeted and puts the single most useful buff you can give them on a button next to the target frame. Click it, or press a key you bind, and the buff goes out. No scrolling through ranks, no guessing what a hunter wants, no overwriting a buff someone else already gave them.
Built for the WoW Forever beta client. Boon itself is an early release, so expect rough edges and please report anything odd.
What it does
- Picks by class. A warrior is offered Might before Kings. A mage gets Wisdom. The order, and which buffs are even considered, is yours to set for every target class.
- Checks what they already have. If they hold the buff at your rank or better, Boon moves on to the next one instead of wasting your mana.
- Missing buffs come first. A buff they lack outright is always offered before an upgrade or refresh of one they already have, whatever your list order.
- Upgrades low ranks. A Rank 1 Arcane Intellect on a level 40 gets your Rank 4 offered instead.
- Respects level. Only ranks the target is high enough to receive are offered.
- Never clobbers your own Blessing. Paladins can keep one Blessing per target. Boon remembers which one you gave, even across a reload, and will not suggest replacing it.
- Walks the list. A druid sees Mark of the Wild first, then Thorns once Mark is on.
- Follows your mouse. With no friendly player selected, the button and keybind follow whoever you are hovering. A selected player always wins, so brushing past someone else changes nothing.
- Knows when to stay quiet. Dead, hostile, cross-faction and PvP-flagged targets get nothing, and buffs you cannot afford right now are skipped.
Two ways to see it
- The button, next to the target frame, showing the buff's icon and rank. Drag it where you like, or hide it entirely and cast with the keybinding alone.
- The indicator: a pulsing ring around the target's portrait, a bar above their name, or both, in your class colour or one you pick. It tells you there is something to give without a button on screen, and it keeps working in combat.
Cast log (opt in)
Tick "Log my Boon casts" and every buff cast through Boon is recorded: the buff and rank, who received it, their class and level, the zone, and the time. Hand-cast buffs are not logged.
/boon statsshows totals, this session, unique players, and the top buffs, classes, zones and most-buffed players, for the character you are on or your whole account./boon exportgives a copyable string to keep, share, or decode with outside tools. It is plain base64 JSON, so nothing special is needed to read it.
Nothing is recorded until you opt in, and nothing leaves your computer on its own. Wipe it any time.
Supported
Paladin (Kings, Might, Wisdom, Salvation, Sanctuary, Light), Priest (Fortitude, Divine Spirit, Shadow Protection), Mage (Arcane Intellect), Druid (Mark of the Wild, Thorns) and Warlock (Unending Breath). Rarely wanted buffs such as Salvation are off by default and can be turned on per class in the options. Player pets are included for the buffs that can land on them, which on this client is Thorns.
Options and commands
/boon config opens the options: per-class buff order and ticks (drag rows to reorder), PvP guard, pets, hover check, refresh threshold, button and indicator settings, a keybinding picker, and the cast log toggle. A minimap button opens the same panel; right-click it to switch Boon off and on.
/boon lists the slash commands. /boon why explains the current suggestion, or why there is none.
Notes
- Buffs cannot be changed on a secure button during combat, so the button keeps its last suggestion until the fight ends and dims if your target changes. The indicator keeps updating.
- This client hides some data from addons during combat. When Boon cannot read a target's buffs or status it stays quiet rather than guessing, and
/boon whysays so. - Outside a group the game does not say who cast a buff, so Boon only knows about Blessings it watched you cast.
- A minimum-mana threshold is not possible: the client hides your current mana from addons. Buffs you cannot afford are still skipped.
- Group buffs such as Prayer of Fortitude and Arcane Brilliance are recognised on targets but not suggested yet.
Bug reports and suggestions are welcome on the project page.
