What's new

Bestiary Arena — changes since 1.33.2

Bestiary Arena 1.36.0 — Big stat rebalance

Needs Bestiary TCG 1.47.0. Both players need 1.36.0 to duel each other (the duel protocol changed).

All cards, including the ones you already have, take the new numbers on their own.

Card value

  • Armor and speed are paid for. The extra armor of Legendaries costs 2 points of attack/health. Speed is measured against 3: each point over it costs 1 point, each point under it gives 1 back.
  • Melee cards get +25% health (at least +1): they only hit from the front.
  • Magic is capped. Magic never misses, ignores armor and hits from anywhere, so magic cards keep 80% of their attack and their health is capped by mana. A Legendary far over the cap keeps its health but hits for 1: a rare magic tank.
  • Small adjustments by race, rarity, damage type and ability from many test duels (for example Undead +1 health, Elemental -1 health, Epic -10%, Rare -5%, Blast -1 attack, Dodge, Regeneration and Frenzy up).

Magic goes in the back

  • In a duel, magic cards can only start in the last two places of the lineup (two at most). They still move up when the cards in front fall.
  • When you confirm a lineup, magic cards move to the back on their own. The auto lineup and the Training Dummy already follow the rule.
  • New duel rule Free Magic: magic cards can start anywhere.

Classes

  • Class bonuses now depend on the class: Death Knight, Rogue, Hunter, Monk and Mage +1; Shaman, Warlock and Demon Hunter -1.
  • Death Knight: its bonus is now -N melee to the enemy cards (it used to be +N melee to its own).
  • Hunter: Explosion and Slow replace Lesser Dodge and Opportunist.
  • Warrior: Rise replaces Shield.
  • A hero that had one of the removed powers as its second effect loses it until you pick a new one.

Ranch

  • Card levels no longer give stats. The rank is what makes a card grow.
  • Trainings: +1 attack, +1 health or +1 speed each (3 per card).
  • Ranks give a percentage of the card's attack and health (5/5, 5/5 and +1 speed, 5/10, 10/10, 10/10), so cheap cards grow a little and big ones more.
  • Some cards with 6 or more health take +1 armor at rank 4 instead of the health of ranks 4 and 5 (always the same cards).
  • The rank 5 mana discount only applies to cards of 7 mana or more.

New duel rules

Each group comes up as one option of the draw, like the races:

  • No <class>: that class can't be picked.
  • No Fixed Power / No Power 2-5: heroes lose that power for the duel.
  • No Bonuses: classes give no bonus.
  • All with <ability>: every card also has that ability (Taunt, Shield, Blast, Poison, Flying...).
  • Heroes with <power>: both heroes also have that power.

Bestiary Arena 1.35.1

Fixes

  • Flying cards now really fly in duels. The Flying trait (Bestiary TCG 1.45.0+) was lost when the lineup was sent to the fight, so those cards paid for it without getting the dodge. It now reaches the battle, in practice and against other players.
  • Both players need 1.35.1 for the trait to reach the other side in a PvP duel.

Training achievements

  • Practice wins against each Training Dummy character are now kept by class, for the new Training achievements in Bestiary TCG 1.46.0.

Bestiary Arena 1.35.0

The Training Dummy has five characters

Every practice duel, the Training Dummy plays as one of five characters, picked at random. It still plays with part of your own collection. What changes is how it picks its class, its second class effect (from hero level 20) and its lineup. When the duel starts, chat tells you which one you are facing.

  • Hogger: aggressive. Lots of attack, little health, and goes for your back cards first with Sneak, Snipe and Opportunist. Favorite classes: Rogue, Hunter, Demon Hunter, Mage, Warrior.
  • Tichondrius: big health and magic damage, and weakens your cards with Weaken, Slow and Poison. Favors healer classes with damage effects: Warlock, Priest, Shaman, Druid.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: few cards (4 at most), but big ones, and goes all in on your front card. Favors tank classes with damage effects: Warrior, Death Knight, Demon Hunter.
  • Dr. Boom: area damage (Blast, Explode, Inspire), with a tank and a healer. Favorite classes: Mage, Evoker, Druid, Warlock.
  • Maraad: one big tank in front and healers behind that heal and cleanse it. Favorite classes: Paladin, Priest, Druid, Monk.

If a character's favorite classes have no cards for the duel's rules, it plays any class that does.

Flying trait

  • Cards with the Flying trait from Bestiary TCG 1.45.0 (flying creatures) fight with Flying on top of their ability: +25% dodge against attackers without Flying, and immune to Earthquake.
  • The card tooltip shows the trait in blue.
  • The automatic lineup values the trait.
  • Duels with the "basic cards" rule turn it off, like any other ability.
