v1.0.0-beta.3
What's new
Changelog
v1.0.0-beta.3
- The assignments bar shows who's in range, as PallyPower does: each player in a class cell's flyout has signal bars (three lit in range of their blessing, two in sight but out of range, one out of sight or offline) and a skull when dead. Settings > Assignments bar has "Mark a class nobody is in range of", off by default, for the same bars on a class cell.
- Clicks on the assignments bar: a class cell casts its greater blessing on a left or right click. In its flyout, a click on a player casts the class's greater blessing on them and a right-click casts their plain blessing.
- Specs are read right: the tree with the most talent points in your active talent group (dual spec included). A paladin was sometimes read as Holy whatever their talents.
- Other players' specs: Benediction inspects only players close enough to answer, tries again one who didn't, and reads everyone again every 5 minutes, so a respec is seen. Before, a player out of range when first inspected stayed guessed for the session.
- A minimap button: a click opens or closes the window, a right-click opens Settings. Settings > Assignments bar and /bene minimap show or hide it. On Forever, Benediction is also listed in the addon compartment.
- Benediction's own logo in the window header and the addon list, in place of the Kings icon.
v1.0.0-beta.2
- A player's spec can be set by hand: their editor (Players page) has a list of their class's specs beside the name, with Automatic to hand it back. A spec set by hand stands over what's synced, inspected or guessed, goes to the plan and every copy like the other hand-set settings, and the Players page says "set by hand".
- Specs follow a change: when the game says a member changed spec or role, they're inspected again, first, and your own spec is read again when you switch talents. A refresh beside a player's spec in their editor (Players page) inspects them again at once.
v1.0.0-beta.1
- PallyPower users see a Benediction paladin's blessings again after a /reload, and each change to them. Benediction speaks each other addon's protocol only while someone in the group runs it, and now remembers who does across a /reload and a relog: after a reload it often heard nothing to go on, since PallyPower answers its question with a whisper and a user who isn't a paladin doesn't answer at all. It also tells PallyPower this paladin's row on joining a group, and keeps telling it while a paladin in the group isn't known to run Benediction, PP Forever or Paladin Toolkit, so a PallyPower user it can't hear still sees this paladin.
- Copies of Benediction say much less to each other: the driver sends only what changed since its last update, a
burst of changes (a lead setting cells, the wheel stepping) goes as one message, players are named in three
characters, and a copy that joins or reloads gets the plan only if it lacks it, with one message holding every
other copy's hello in place of one from each. In a 40-player raid every message fits one addon message, and a
session that took 103 addon messages takes 28. A copy that missed an update or drifted asks for the whole plan
again. Copies of an older or newer Benediction whose messages differ are shown in Peers and
/bene syncas not syncing, and never read. - The assignments bar starts as a column down the left side of the screen, growing down. A bar already set up keeps its layout.
- Settings has a Sync log: the last 200 addon messages sent and heard from Benediction, PallyPower, PP Forever and Paladin Toolkit, newest first, with when, which way, the player, what each is and the message (whole on hover). A message the server turned away shows in red. It's kept across a /reload; Clear empties it.
- The player editor no longer has "Always give": put the blessing first in the player's list instead. A blessing set there before moves to the front of the player's list.
- The bar's bead sits on the top left corner of its class cells.
- The spot you grab on the assignments bar stays under the pointer as you drag it.
- Assignments are kept across a /reload and a relog: the plan in force is saved, so with Re-plan when the group changes off the grid comes back as it was, and what's set by hand (cells, players' blessings, requests, priorities, No Salvation, auras) is never cleared by the group changing. A login used to clear it all while the roster still read alone, and a player missing from the roster for a moment lost their cells. What's set for players who aren't in the group waits for them; Clear hand-set blessings clears only the group's. A copy that reloads gets the driver's plan at once.
- The assignments bar stays where you put it across reloads. At a size other than 100% it used to move on each one.
- A spec's priorities reorder by dragging a blessing to its new place (a gold line marks where it lands) or with the wheel, in place of the up and down arrows; a trash can drops one. A player's blessings in their editor drag into a new order too.
- The Players page says where each spec came from after it: synced (their own Benediction), inspected and how long ago, or guessed. A spec a player's Benediction said in an earlier session no longer stops them being inspected: an inspect this session replaces it, until their Benediction speaks again. Saved specs not heard for 60 days are dropped.
- Plan now is called Auto-assign.
- Button labels no longer sit up and to the left of centre after a press until the pointer passes over them.
- Blessing icons in the bar's flyout and the grid's Shift popout fill their square, with no dark edge around them; class icons on the grid and the Priorities page are cropped like every other icon.
- On the Blessings page, the wheel over a cell with Shift held gives the blessing it lands on to every class from that paladin (Shift still includes what the other paladins give).
- Key binding fields in Settings take the keyboard only after a click: while they showed, the window kept every key, Escape included, and a key pressed after clicking a field could go to another field and be lost. A field now also stops listening on a click elsewhere, takes Cmd (Mac), mouse buttons and the wheel, keeps the old key if the game refuses the new one, and a key set in combat is bound once combat ends. An open list or dialog lets keys go to the game in combat.
- The assignments bar is Minimal by default, its class cells touch, and its bead always sits on its left edge.
- Key bindings have their own Settings section, with a new key for the next minor blessing (the big button's right-click). The keys show on the bar only when "Show them on the bar" is ticked; it's off by default.
- The wheel over a blank class cell gives it a blessing even when the other paladins already give the class all this one can cast, and steps on to Nothing after the last, as on the grid.
- Copies of Benediction in a group stay in step: messages keep to the server's addon-message throttle (10 at once,
then one a second per prefix) instead of four a quarter second, which lost chunks of the plan and settings as a
group formed, and anything the server turns away is sent again.
/bene syncsays who plans, which copies this one hears, and what waits to be sent. - The assignments bar has a cell for every class in the group; one this paladin gives nothing is blank (the wheel over it gives it a blessing).
- Plans as the PallyPower Auto-Assign WeakAura does (
docs/planning.md): each player's best blessings from the paladins there by PallyPower rank (on TBC, Improved Might and Wisdom count), each class's greater blessings the ones most of it wants, then plain blessings so every player ends up with their own best set; a tank never keeps a greater Salvation in place of Kings or Light. Every plan is made from scratch (it no longer holds on to what's on players). - Paladins' ranks travel in Benediction's hello and are read from PallyPower; a paladin with no addon is taken at their level's ranks.
- A player's request or own list comes first, then the rest of their spec's list. Light goes second for a tank by role or main tank flag when a Holy Paladin is there.
- Specs with no inspect are guessed as the WeakAura does: paladins retribution, priests shadow, shamans elemental or enhancement and druids balance or guardian by their mana; the main tank flag alone makes only a druid a tank.
- TBC: protection warriors and guardian druids take Sanctuary last, after Kings, Might and Light (Wisdom too for a bear); every other list ends with it.
- Auras go Devotion, Concentration, Retribution, then a resistance for each paladin after the third; Sanctity and Crusader Aura only when set by hand.
- On TBC a paladin's own spec comes from their talent points; it read as Holy whatever the talents.
/bene specslists each player's spec and where it came from. - "Re-plan when the group changes" is off by default: the plan is made with Plan now, which sits at the right end of the tab row on the Blessings page only.
- First version: spec-aware blessing plans that sync between paladins and re-plan by themselves, a casting bar with
a one-button next cast, the Blessings, Players, Priorities and Settings pages, and
!bless/!ppchat commands. - Classes on the grid and the bar are green when everyone has the blessing, yellow when some do and red when nobody does, with the time left. A plain blessing a paladin gives someone instead shows small in the corner of the class's cell and of the bar's tile.
- Hovering a class on the bar, or a cell on the grid with Shift held, lists the class's players, each row filled with its state's colour and ending in every plain blessing that paladin can give, the one they get lit: a click on another sets it by hand (a lock marks it), a click on the locked one hands it back, and the wheel steps through them. On the bar a click on the row casts their blessing on them, a right-click the class's greater one. The bar's list stays open while the pointer is on its tile, its rows or the gap between (it used to shut on the next frame and flicker).
- Priorities are grouped by class, with a tab per spec.
- A class's list of players, on the bar and on the grid, is in name order, so a row stays put when its blessing changes.
- The assignments bar (the casting bar until now) can stand as a column or lie as a row, growing either way; comes in Detailed, Compact (smaller buttons, no caption) and Minimal (no card, timers only when low) styles; sizes from 60% to 150%; and can fade while everyone's blessed (Settings, Assignments bar). Its list of players opens toward the middle of the screen, clear of the bar and its caption: up or down from a row, sideways from a column.
- The bar looks like PallyPower's: a cell per class with the class's icon, the greater blessing's and how many want it cast, the whole cell in its state's colour. Its list of players is quieter: each row shows only the blessing that player gets (the wheel changes it). A bead on the bar's edge replaces the gear: a click locks or unlocks the bar, a drag moves it while unlocked, a right-click opens the window. The big button has the aura beside it (in a column, the two share the first row, centred); a click on it casts the next greater blessing owed and a right-click the next plain one. A click on a class's cell casts its greater blessing, a right-click the plain one, and the wheel changes which blessing this paladin gives the class. The flyout's blessings sit before the names. A column on the screen's right half stays on it as it widens.
- Chat commands answer back, as the WeakAura's did, under
!bless(!ppis left to the WeakAura):wantandclearsay what was set, missingwho owes what, reporteach class's greater blessings (report minoreach paladin's plain ones),helpthe commands, andassign [-salv]that it's done. Whispers are answered by whisper, party and raid chat in the same chat by the driver. Blessing words and names take typos. Settings has a Chat commands section listing them with what each does. - Syncs with PallyPower Forever, PP Forever and Nyte Lyte's Paladin Toolkit.
- Players are keyed by their full Forever name, surname and all.
- Key bindings in the game's Key Bindings menu (under Benediction): cast the next blessing, cast your aura, open the window. Settings sets the same bindings.
- Settings is in sections (Autopilot, Assignments bar, Peers). Peers lists who in the group runs Benediction, PallyPower, PP Forever or Paladin Toolkit, and the version where the addon says it, under who plans (no longer in the window's header).
- Whisper is an icon: a speech bubble, a green check once the paladin has been told, gold when the plan has changed since.
- A player's blessing from one paladin can be set by hand on the Players page (a lock marks it); Clear hand-set blessings clears those too.
- The mouse wheel over a grid cell, an aura or a player's blessing steps through what that paladin can cast, as in PallyPower; what another paladin already gives is skipped unless Shift is held.
- Runs on TBC Anniversary (
Benediction_TBC.toc): Blessing of Sanctuary, Crusader Aura and the level 70 ranks; Kings and Sanctuary as talents; PallyPower's TBC build, Sanctuary and Crusader Aura included. - PallyPower hears this paladin's real blessing and aura ranks and talent points.
- Plain blessings are a small icon in the corner of the paladin's cell for that class, with who gets them on hover, instead of a list under the grid.
- Clearer buttons: Whisper (was Tell), Clear hand-set blessings (a button at the Blessings page's foot); Elect again and Announce are gone, and Plan now shows only with the autopilot off.
