What's new

AzerPad 0.4.0-beta

World map (with OpenMap)

  • Works like a console map: crosshair in the middle, the left stick moves the map, the right stick zooms (L2/R2 zoom too). Smooth panning, no mouse cursor needed.
  • Your character stays put while the map is open; auto-run and flying on auto-run carry on. In combat the left stick moves your character and the right stick moves the map.
  • R3 jumps to your own position. Moving a fully zoomed-out map zooms in slightly instead of getting stuck.
  • The DualSense touchpad opens the map in combat and in dungeons too.

Dialogs and windows

  • Yes/No dialogs (confirmations, ready check, dungeon and group invites): the highlight jumps straight to "Yes"; Circle declines.
  • Talking to quest givers: the highlight jumps to the option that moves things along (turn in, new quest, quest dialogue; Accept/Continue/Complete in the quest window).
  • Dungeon and Raid Finder: after picking from the menu the highlight jumps to "Find Group" / "Find Raid".
  • Skipping pre-rendered movies now works: Cross skips, Circle keeps watching.
  • Bag sorting: with your bags open, R3 sorts them (with the bank open, the bank and Warband bank too); the Triangle item menu has the same entry. Not possible in combat.
  • Button hints under windows: while you use a window with the D-pad, a bar underneath shows what Cross, Circle, Triangle and R3 do right now (can be turned off).
  • Flyout spells (mage portals, hunter traps, warlock demons …): Triangle on the spellbook entry opens a menu to cast each spell directly or put them all on ring page 2 (L1 + Down).
  • Buffs, quest list and chat tabs can be picked with the D-pad: Triangle from any window, or game menu → "Buffs, quests and chat" (/ap hud). Cross removes a buff or opens a quest, Square opens the quest menu.
  • Options skips spoken NPC messages (talking heads), voice included.
  • New sliders for the turn angle (travelling and in combat): from which angle your character turns to face the stick direction.
  • Controls test (Settings → Controls, /ap test): every button, both sticks and L2/R2 light up while pressed.

Service mounts

  • All known service mounts (Expedition Yak, Tundra Mammoths, Brutosaurs, Grizzly Hills Packmaster, Wandering Caravan, Sporebearer Fungal Strider): Left targets the vendor, Right the transmogrifier, Up the auctioneer, Down the mailbox, then Square.
  • Circle now dismounts from service mounts too.
  • At vendors: automatic repair (guild bank first, if allowed) and selling gray junk (both can be turned off).
  • Double-tap L1 summons a service mount (vendor first), otherwise a favorite mount.

Controls

  • Chat with the controller: the Create button opens chat together with the on-screen keyboard (professions are still in the ring menu). The keyboard suggests up to three words learned from your chat; R2 takes the first one, Options sends.
  • L3 is now auto-run; mouse mode moved to R1 + R3. Mouse mode turns itself off after 5 seconds without input (adjustable, 0 = never).
  • R1 + D-pad up/down targets enemies (closest / next) instead of switching crossbar sets.
  • Healers: R1 + D-pad targets party members 1–4 directly (can be turned off).
  • R1 + right stick up/down: smooth camera distance.
  • R1 + L3 cycles the camera through far (maximum), medium and over the shoulder; three sliders set the distances.
  • Ping wheel on R3 (small, four pieces of the ring menu, camera stays almost still): tap R3 to open it, tilt the right stick to pick Attack, Warning, On my way or Assist, confirm with Cross, steer the pointer to the spot with the right stick and press Cross to ping (works in combat). R3 without a pick pings what you look at; Circle cancels.
  • Double-tap L2 opens and closes your bags, in combat too.
  • Double-tap R2 opens and closes the character window.
  • R1 + Options: Adventure Guide; R1 + Create: reply to the last whisper (on-screen keyboard); R1 + PS button: Collections. All can be reassigned.
  • R1 + L1: target focus; R1 + L2: Great Vault; R1 + R2: achievements.
  • Movement speed spells moved to L2 + Triangle; Death Knights get Death Strike on R2 + Cross (existing crossbars are switched over once).
  • Square in combat (single-button assistant) now attacks even when WoW does not report the assistant as learned.
  • Ground-targeted spells: the target circle comes with the controller cursor; Cross places it, Square cancels.
  • Gear tooltips always compare with what you are wearing.
  • Triangle means "More" everywhere: on an item AzerPad's own item menu with tooltip (use/equip/sell, add to ring, split, try on, link in chat, destroy …); with a player targeted a player menu (whisper, invite, inspect, trade, follow, duel …; "More…" opens Blizzard's menu); in the spellbook a spell menu (cast, put on a button, add to ring, link in chat); on the world map (with OpenMap) a waypoint at the crosshair, press again to remove it; otherwise next window.
  • Loot rolls work like Yes/No dialogs: Cross Need (or Greed if Need is not possible), Square Greed, Circle Pass (out of combat).
  • PvP mode (turns itself on in battlegrounds and arenas, can be turned off): the D-pad targets enemy players only; in arenas R1 + Up/Right/Down targets arena enemy 1/2/3 and R1 + Left sets focus; quick chat gets battleground calls; in arenas only healthstones and food/drink go into the ring. War Mode does not count.
  • R1 + D-pad in a raid: a selection cursor over the groups (up/down within a group, left/right to the next group); in a party it picks member 1–4.
  • Fixed: without any open window the D-pad only showed "Select" and did not trigger its actions; only visible windows count now.

Ring menu

  • 12 instead of 8 fields on every page: the D-pad reaches the 8 main fields, the stick all 12. New entries: Achievements, Collections, Adventure Guide, Calendar; Salute, Hug, Roar, Flex; blue/green/red world markers and clear world markers; pet attack/follow/stay/passive on the group page. Your own entries are moved once.
  • New ring art: an ornate stone-and-gold ring with 12 identical fields. The selected field rises slightly with its ring segment, casts a shadow, turns darker with sculpted edges and gets a golden glow, while the other fields keep their colors; icons are round.
  • The ring sphere is now a tetrahedron: four rings (menu, markers, group, own 1) touch at their tips, the other three peek out at the edge. L1 + D-pad rolls to the ring in that direction; the free direction flips the front ring over (menu ↔ quick chat, own 1 ↔ own 2). A glowing core pulses in the middle in a warm beige, matching the sphere.
  • Own page 1: field 1 always gets the best healing item (healthstone, otherwise a healing potion).
  • Back of the sphere: quick chat with 12 phrases (Hello, Thanks, Ready …) to party, instance or /say.
  • Own page 1 (L1 + Left): empty fields are filled with usable quest items, healthstones, potions, flasks and food from your bags; used-up ones are removed again.
  • Group page: new "Reload UI" and "Leave instance group" entries.
  • The transmog mount slot summons the Grand Expedition Yak or the Packmaster.
  • Names in small letters under the fields (setting "Names under ring fields") and small numbers on the menu page: bags used/total, friends online, quests, lowest durability (setting "Numbers on the ring").
  • Subtler ring sphere: weaker shield and core, see-through body, neighboring rings toned down and fading towards the edge.
  • The ring art fades towards its outer edge (setting "Ring fades outwards").
  • Gently pulsing triangles on the ring sphere point to the neighboring rings, where L1 + D-pad turns the sphere.
  • A wobbling plasma ball in the middle of the sphere throws lightning at the inside of the sphere now and then, and towards the direction you turn.
  • The selected field's name grows, turns light gold and gets a soft dark backing; a thick golden ring with a sculpted edge replaces the blue frame and effects.
  • A soft, airy sound when the sphere turns.

Settings

  • New AzerPad window (/ap config): our own controller picture with what each button does on every layer (normal, R1, L2, R2, L2 + R2), and all settings in tabs, fully usable with the controller. The Blizzard options page now only has an "Open AzerPad window" button, so all settings live in one place.
  • The AzerPad window looks like a console options menu: dark frame with gold trim, tabs on top switched with L1/R1, name on the left and value on the right.
  • New controller pictures (Xbox and PlayStation layouts, no logos) with label lines pointing exactly at the buttons, controller choice on the overview with a smooth transition, fading pages, an atmospheric background and gold-filled selection.
  • Controller type: the default is now PlayStation (PS5); Nintendo can be chosen manually; Xbox also covers the Steam Deck.
  • Sliders in the AzerPad window show a track with a gold fill and a knob (mouse click or drag). With the controller, Cross on a slider row starts adjusting, Left/Right sets the value, Cross/Circle/Up/Down finish; otherwise Left/Right moves between rows.
  • Triangle presses the extra action button whenever it is shown (in combat too), otherwise the zone ability in combat; out of combat it still opens the context menu or summons your mount.
  • On-screen keyboard restyled like the AzerPad window, with a text preview and chat channel on top. It suggests the next word, catches typos, capitalizes sentences, and R3 switches the chat channel.
  • The game menu (Options button or Esc) has an "AzerPad" button at the very top that opens the AzerPad window directly.
  • A reflection under the controllers, like on a glossy floor.
  • The controller overview that appears when you press buttons uses new line drawings of the same controllers, with colored face button symbols.
  • Clean, rounded grip ends on all controller pictures (no floor reflection leftovers).
  • The controller studio (button assignment) is now a tab of the AzerPad window instead of a separate screen (also via a button on the overview and /ap layout). The window is larger for it and shrinks itself on small screens. In the studio L1/R1 only show or keep their layer (no tab switching there), Circle goes back to the previous tab; studio colors are gold like the window.
  • Moving through the window with the D-pad shows only the gold row selection, no blue frame.
  • The one-button field is larger and shows what Square does right now: a sword in combat, a speech bubble when talking, a bag when trading, with the other person's portrait.
  • Service mounts: with no target, Square targets the vendor, the next Square talks to them.
  • Crossbar and ring center: D-pad slots shaped like a D-pad, round face button slots and round icons, all with sculpted edges.
  • Ring center: on assigned fields the button symbol sits small at the edge instead of over the icon.
  • Layout studio: switch controllers with the touchpad/View button or R3/L3 (or the buttons under the picture) with a slide animation. The connected controller applies right away; any other is a preview whose layouts apply as soon as you use that kind of controller. Crossbar and ring are shared by all controllers.
  • Layout studio: browsing profiles with ‹ › switches to the shown profile right away (before it was only a preview).

HUD

  • Skyriding: Blizzard's flight bar stays hidden; the flight abilities appear small above the crossbar with buttons, cooldowns and charges (setting "Small flight bar").
  • Damage meter sits lower in the AzerPad layout so the whole group fits.
  • Gentler skyriding vibration.
