AutoMarkAssist-v3.6.3
What's new
AutoMarkAssist Changelog
3.6.3
Bug Fixes
- Minimap Button on WoW Forever: The AutoMarkAssist minimap button now sits on the outer ring of the minimap like other addons' buttons, instead of inside it, and is the same size as theirs. The button's distance from the centre now follows the minimap's actual size instead of a fixed distance, so it lines up with other addons' buttons on every client.
3.6.2
New Features
- Addon List Icon: AutoMarkAssist now shows the Skull raid marker in the game's AddOns list instead of a question mark.
3.6.1
Bug Fixes
- WoW Forever: No More "Protected Function" Errors: WoW Forever does not let addons place raid icons on their own. Raid marking is a protected action there, so 3.6.0 raised
[ADDON_ACTION_FORBIDDEN] AddOn 'AutoMarkAssist' tried to call the protected functionin the open world and Classic dungeons, placed no icons, and offered to disable the addon. AutoMarkAssist now detects WoW Forever and never makes that call. Automatic marking (Proximity, Mouseover and Manual modes), cascade on death and auto-reset are switched off there, because they cannot work under Forever's rules. In new dungeons such as Ruins of Lordaeron, 3.6.0 showed no error and also placed no icons; that is covered by the Mark Mob key below. - Safety Net on Other Clients: If the game ever refuses AutoMarkAssist's raid-marker call on another client, the addon stops after the first refusal, switches to the Mark Mob key and says so in chat, instead of repeating the error every half second.
- Key Bindings Never Change in Combat: The Clear All Marks key is now applied once combat ends if you change it, toggle the addon or zone in during a fight. Changing bindings in combat is blocked by the game.
/ama defaultsalso unbinds the key straight away.
New Features
- Mark Mob Key: A new key binding (Esc > Options > Keybindings > AutoMarkAssist > Mark Mob). Press it while hovering a mob, or with a mob targeted, to give it the icon AutoMarkAssist picks: database preference, Skull, Cross, then crowd control that suits the mob and your group. On WoW Forever this is how you mark: the key press lets the game place the icon through its own secure button. On Forever the key:
- leaves mobs that already carry an icon alone, and does not take icons other players placed;
- works out of combat only; in combat, use the game's own Raid Target key bindings;
- in dungeons that hide mob names from addons, hands out icons in order (Skull, Cross, then your group's crowd-control icons), restarting after each fight. On the Classic clients the key also works and marks immediately, whatever mode you use.
- Clear All Marks on WoW Forever: The Clear All Marks key now removes every raid icon on Forever, through the game's secure clear-all action.
/ama resetcannot clear icons there and explains this. /ama status: Shows what the client currently lets AutoMarkAssist do: whether icons need a key press, both key bindings, whether marks or mob names are hidden from addons, and how many marks are tracked.- WoW Forever Walkthrough: On Forever the first-run walkthrough and a new first chapter on the Tutorial tab explain the Mark Mob and Clear All Marks keys. The options window shows the Mark Mob key in place of the mode settings that do not apply there.
3.6.0
New Features
- WoW Forever Support: AutoMarkAssist now loads on WoW Forever (interface 16001) with the Classic dungeon and raid database. Forever runs the modern game client with its addon restrictions, so a few things work differently there:
- Death cascade without the combat log: Forever does not let addons listen to the combat log, so marked mobs are detected as dead from unit health and raid-mark updates, and cascade promotes the next target as before.
- Encounter lockdown: While the client hides raid marks and death state from addons, auto-marking pauses instead of forgetting or overwriting live marks, and resumes when the lockdown lifts.
- CC-safe cascade: When the client hides auras in combat, cascade will not promote a crowd-controlled mob to a kill mark, so CC is not broken by a guess.
- CC immunity learning relies on the combat log and is not available on Forever; mark CC-immune mobs in the Database tab.
- The six new Forever dungeons have no built-in mob data yet; unknown mobs are marked by scoring as usual.
3.5.0
New Features
- In-Game Tutorial: A full tutorial is now built into the addon.
- First-run walkthrough: On first login (and for existing users who have never seen it) a 10-step guided overlay explains the mark key, the three modes, pack scoring, group CC (including stacked classes and Paladin Repentance), cascade/reset, the Database tab, announcements, and commands. Skip, Back, Next, Finish, and Escape all dismiss it so it will not re-open on every login. Replay with
/ama tutorial(aliases/ama guideand/ama walkthrough). - Tutorial tab: Options now has a Tutorial tab with a chapter list covering getting started, the mark key, modes, scoring, crowd control, cascade/reset, the database, announcements, commands, and tips. "Replay walkthrough" relaunches the overlay.
/ama tutorial tabjumps straight to this tab. - About tab: "Launch Tutorial" button, Paladin Repentance documented on Moon, and
/ama tutoriallisted with the other commands. - Minimap tooltip mentions

3.4.19
New Features
- Duplicate Crowd Control for Stacked Classes: Bringing more than one of the same CC class now assigns more than one CC mark — two Mages get two Polymorph targets, two Warlocks two Banish targets, and so on. Each class still claims its usual icon first (Mage → Moon, Warlock → Triangle, …); every extra caster then borrows a spare icon — one belonging to a CC class that is not in your group and is still enabled — so the second Polymorph might land on Diamond or Star instead of going to waste. When a Mage and a Paladin are both present the Mage keeps Moon and the Paladin borrows a spare for Repentance. If there are more CC casters than free icons, the extras are simply left unmarked.
/ama cc, the announced mark plan, and the Preview all list every caster with the icon they were actually assigned. - Resizable Options Window: The options window can now be resized by dragging the grip in its bottom-right corner, and your chosen size is remembered between sessions. The Database tab's mob-name column grows with the window so long NPC names are no longer cut off. Hovering any row in the Database tab also shows the full mob name in a tooltip, so manual mark configuration no longer means guessing at truncated names.
3.4.18
Database
- Full TBC 5-Man Dungeon Database Rebuild: Every Burning Crusade 5-man dungeon roster was re-verified against the Wowhead TBC Classic database, 2.4.3 creature data (creature types and CC-immunity masks), Wowpedia, and Icy Veins dungeon guides, replacing a list that contained invented mobs (e.g. "Hellfire Watchtower"), mobs assigned to the wrong dungeon (Hellfire Channeler in Ramparts, Bleeding Hollow Torturer in Blood Furnace), wrong creature types, and large gaps. All 16 dungeons now carry complete trash rosters — 249 entries — tuned for a warrior tank and party:
- Healers, summoners and reinforcement-callers are flagged Critical (kill-first): e.g. Hellfire Watcher, Shadowmoon Summoner, Coilfang Scale-Healer, Murkblood Healer, Ethereal Priest/Spellbinder, Auchenai Necromancer, Cabal Acolyte/Summoner, Bloodwarder Mender/Physician, Negaton Warp-Master, Durnholde Warden, Sunblade Blood Knight/Physician.
- AoE / fear / mind-control threats are flagged High danger: e.g. Coilfang Siren, Sethekk Prophet, Cabal Spellbinder, Nexus Terror, Fen Ray, Eredar Deathbringer, Ethereum Smuggler.
- CC-immune mobs are now correctly flagged so CC marks are never wasted on them: Bonechewer Beastmaster; Shattered Hand Legionnaire, Gladiator, Champion and Centurion; Coilfang Champion and Defender; Bog Giant, Underbog Lord and Bog Overlord; Phantasmal Possessor (even Shackle-immune); Auchenai Monk; Fel Overseer and Malicious Instructor; Nexus Terror (Banish-immune despite being a Demon); Gargantuan Abyssal; the Tempest-Forge constructs; Mutate Fear-Shrieker/Horror; Rift Keeper and Rift Lord; Sunblade Sentinel.
- Creature types corrected for proper CC assignment: the Sethekk Time-Lost casters are Undead (Shackle works), the Mechanar robots (Crusher/Driller/Wrecker) are Demons (Banish works), Underbog Lurkers/Shamblers are Elementals (Banish works), and the naga, arakkoa, ethereal and blood-elf rosters carry their correct Humanoid CC preferences.
- Trivial swarm adds, event-only spawns and de-aggroing slaves are marked SKIP (e.g. Fel Orc Neophyte gauntlet waves, Wastewalker/Dreghood slaves, Mana Leeches, Reanimated Bones, Mechanar Tinkerers, Infinite Whelps, Sunblade Imps) so kill and CC marks stay on targets that matter.
- Heroic-only CC immunities (e.g. Sethekk Ravenguard, Cobalt Serpent, Sunseeker Geomancer) are documented in the database comments and are picked up automatically in-game by the existing CC-immunity learner.
3.4.17
Bug Fixes
- No More Announcement Spam When the Group Breaks Up: The auto-announcement deduplicated on an exact zone-plus-roster snapshot, so any roster change — including someone leaving at the end of a dungeon — produced a "new" key and re-sent the full mark plan to the remaining players. The announcer now only fires when the roster grows (a new member who hasn't heard the mark key) or the zone changes; departures update the tracked roster silently. Announce coverage resets when you leave the instance or group, so the next fresh run announces normally.
New Features
- Enabling Mid-Party Announces the Mark Key: Turning the addon on while already in a formed group — via
/ama enable,/ama toggle, the minimap button, or the Enable Marking checkbox — now announces the mark plan to the group (subject to the existing announce-on-entry setting, Silent Mode, marking permission, and manual-mode checks). Previously the announcement only triggered on dungeon entry, so a leader who enabled the addon after zoning in never shared the key.
3.4.16
Database
- CC-Immune Mobs Corrected to Kill Marks: Eight mechanical and elemental mobs that are immune to crowd control were stored with a Polymorph (Moon) preference alongside their
ccImmuneflag. The flag already forced them onto a kill mark at run time, but the stored preference was dead and misleading. They now carry a kill-mark preference that matches their behaviour: Peacekeeper Security Suit and Security Golem (Gnomeregan); Iron Golem Custodian, Titanium Vanguard, Centrifuge Core, Junk Bot and Emergency Fire Bot (WotLK); and Lesser Diffused Lightning (Throne of Thunder). - Shattered Hand Legionnaire Flagged CC-Immune: The Shattered Hand Legionnaire (The Shattered Halls) is immune to crowd control and now only receives a kill mark instead of a CC assignment.
Packaging
- Mists of Pandaria Classic Build Now Generated: The MoP TOC used the unrecognised
_MoPfilename suffix, so the packager never produced a Mists of Pandaria Classic build and the file shipped as dead weight. Renamed to the recognised_Mistssuffix so the MoP Classic build is built and uploaded. - Removed Bogus Wrath Interface Number: The WotLK TOC listed a non-existent client build (
38000) alongside the real one; removed so only the correct interface version (30405) remains.
3.4.15
Bug Fixes
- Proximity Mode Now Marks Again: Proximity marking could stop working entirely.
CheckInteractDistancereturnsnilfor hostile units on the Classic Anniversary (1.15) client, and thatnilwas treated as "out of range", so every candidate was filtered out and nothing was ever marked. The range check now trusts a positive result and falls back to nameplate presence — a reliable nearby-only signal — when the API gives no answer, so the mobs closest to you are marked again. - Mouseover Picks the Correct Mark: In mouseover mode the hovered mob could receive the wrong mark, or no mark, whenever other unmarked mobs were nearby. The holistic "soft-reserve" pass pre-claimed mark slots for higher-priority mobs that were not actually marked, starving the hovered mob of its rightful mark (for example Polymorph landing on an intended Skull target, which the group then breaks) or leaving it unmarked once enough phantom slots were reserved. The hovered mob is now allocated directly via the normal mark priority (DB preference, then Skull, Cross, and CC).
- No More Duplicate World Icons: Marks were forgotten the instant a mob lost its unit token — when the mouse moved away, or a mob briefly left nameplate range — which freed the icon and let the next mob receive a duplicate. A short last-seen grace window now retains a mark until its mob has genuinely been unseen for a while. Deaths still free the icon immediately via the combat log.
- CC-Aware Cascade Restored: The crowd-control duration check in the after-death cascade read
UnitDebuffreturn values from the wrong positions, so the guard that prevents promoting a still-CC'd mob to a kill mark never fired. Corrected to the live return-value layout, so a Polymorphed/Sapped/Banished mob is no longer pulled up to Skull while its CC is active. - Mouseover Range No Longer Blocks Silently: The optional mouseover range limit (10/28 yd) could silently block marking for the same
CheckInteractDistancereason. It is now fail-open — it only rejects on a definite out-of-range answer.
Performance
- Lighter Mouseover Handling: Mouseover marking now skips the expensive whole-pack scan for non-hostile or dead mouseover units instead of running it on every cursor movement.
3.4.13
Database
- Fen Ray (The Underbog) Flagged CC-Immune: Fen Rays are classified as Beasts but are immune to Hibernate and other sleep effects, so the allocator previously handed them Circle in Druid groups only for the Hibernate to fail. They're now tagged
ccImmune = truein the static TBC database and will only receive a kill mark.
3.4.12
New Features
- Paladin Repentance Recognised as Group CC (TBC+): Paladins in the group are now detected as a CC class with Repentance on Moon. Since there are only six non-kill raid icons and all were already claimed, Moon is shared between Mage Polymorph and Paladin Repentance. Mage owns Moon when both classes are present (broader creature-type coverage: Humanoid / Beast / Critter), and solo-Paladin groups get Moon allocated to Repentance against its valid targets (Humanoid / Demon / Dragonkin / Giant / Undead).
GetReservedCCMarksnow unions the creature-type filters for shared marks so a Mage+Paladin group can Moon-CC anything either class can handle, and the Mark Plan announcement deduplicates the shared slot so the Moon line is only printed once. Repentance's spell ID was already tracked by the CC-immunity learner, so auto-learning continues to work as before.
3.4.11
Bug Fixes
- Announcement Prefix Now Saves on Focus Loss: The Prefix edit box in the config previously only committed the typed text when the user explicitly pressed Enter. Clicking anywhere else or closing the config dropped the change silently, so a custom prefix appeared to "not work". The field now also saves on focus loss, and Escape reverts any in-flight edit back to the stored value.
3.4.10
Bug Fixes
- Middle Mouse No Longer Clears Marks: Fixed a long-standing bug where pressing the middle mouse button could trigger a full mark reset even when no reset keybind was configured. The hidden action button used by
SetOverrideBindingClickis now anchored off-screen with mouse input disabled and registered only forLeftButtonUp, so a stray click cannot reach it. The config's bind capture now also refuses mouse-button / mouse-wheel keys (MIDDLEMOUSE,BUTTON3,MOUSEWHEELUP, etc.) becauseOnKeyDownforwards them on some clients. Existing saved mouse-button bindings are scrubbed during migration, so upgrading users with a rogueMIDDLEMOUSEvalue will see it cleared to "Click to Bind" on next login.
3.4.9
Bug Fixes
- Honour the Disabled Flag Everywhere: When
AutoMarkAssistDB.enabled = false, the addon is now genuinely inert. Zone transitions (PLAYER_ENTERING_WORLD,ZONE_CHANGED_NEW_AREA, and the internalUpdateZonehelper) no longer callResetState, so a disabled raid leader keeps whatever marks are on the pull instead of having them wiped every time a new area loads. Manual-mode scroll-wheel cycling and the mouseover mark-picker HUD also refuse to fire while disabled. The combat-endPLAYER_REGEN_ENABLEDpath was already gated; this closes the remaining side-channels that could interfere with party mark placements while the addon is nominally off.
3.4.8
New Features
- Mouseover Range Setting: Mouseover mode now has its own range selector alongside Proximity Range, with three options:
~10 yd (Short),~28 yd (Long), andUnlimited. Unlimited preserves the previous behavior (any hovered hostile is eligible); the short/long options gate marking toCheckInteractDistancerange so you can hover-mark distant mobs only when you want to. Default is Unlimited so existing users see no behavior change until they pick a range.
3.4.7
New Features
- Manual Mark Override (Macro-Friendly): New
/ama mark <name>command stamps any raid icon onto your current target without leaving proximity/mouseover mode. Quick aliases/ama skull,/ama cross,/ama unmarkare macro/keybind ready. Useful when the tank wants explicit Skull on a specific mob the addon hasn't prioritised, without losing automatic marking elsewhere.- Names accepted:
skull cross moon diamond triangle square star circle - Indices accepted:
1-8 - Clear:
0,off,clear,none, or/ama unmark - The override frees any previous holder of the slot and any previous mark on the target, then applies the requested mark and tracks it like an auto-placed local mark (so cascade-on-death still works).
- Names accepted:
Bug Fixes
- Mind-Controlled Friendly Filter:
IsMarkableTargetnow skips units flagged as players or player-controlled. Without this, a mind-controlled party member appears hostile toUnitCanAttackand would receive a kill mark — embarrassing and confusing in PvE encounters with MC mechanics.
3.4.6
Reverted
- Skull-Follows-Tank-Target Removed: v3.4.5's
PLAYER_TARGET_CHANGEDsnap is removed. Tab-targeting is core tanking gameplay (Thunder Clap → tab → Devastate → tab → Sunder Armor → tab to spread threat in TBC; taunt rotations in Classic/Wrath), and snapping Skull on every target change made the kill icon flicker across 4-5 mobs in the first seconds of every pull. Party DPS would either chase the moving icon or learn to ignore Skull entirely. Skull is now stable from the moment it's allocated. - The +50 tank-target tie-break (v3.4.5) is retained — it only matters at initial allocation when a pack is first scanned, so the tank's pick wins the first Skull placement without affecting it afterwards.
- The hard-skip on live-CC mobs in cascade promotion (v3.4.5) is retained — it only fires after a kill, not on routine target changes.
3.4.5
Changes
- Skull Follows Tank Target (proximity mode): When the player switches target to a different markable hostile mob, Skull snaps onto the new target. The previous Skull holder is freed so the next scan tick re-marks it appropriately (Cross / CC / nothing). Tanks no longer have to live with Skull glued to whatever the addon picked first. Snap is suppressed if the new target is currently CC'd with more than 3 s of CC remaining (avoids breaking active CC), if combat lock is on, or in mouseover/manual modes.
- Tank Target Tie-Break Boosted (+1 → +50): The player's current target now wins decisively against equally-tiered mobs. Big enough to override one dangerLevel step in the same band, small enough that a Critical-danger healer in the pack still beats a Normal-tier tank target.
- Hard Skip on Live CC in Cascade: v3.4.4's CC-time penalty is replaced with a hard skip when CC has more than 3 s remaining. Promoting a freshly-Polymorphed/Sapped/Banished mob to Skull or Cross would put the kill icon on a locked-down target and the party would instantly break the CC. Below the 3 s grace, the per-second penalty still applies so the closest-to-expiring mob wins ties.
3.4.4
Changes
- CC Time-Aware Cascade Promotion: When cascading Skull after a kill, CC-marked mobs are now ranked by adjusted score = base priority − (CC time remaining × 10). Mobs still fully locked down (e.g. a freshly-Polymorphed caster with 40 s left) drop in promotion priority so the addon prefers to promote mobs whose CC is about to expire. A Critical-danger healer still wins over light-danger trash regardless of CC state; this only changes the ordering between mobs of similar base danger.
3.4.3
Database Enrichment
- Full Creature-Type Coverage: Every mob entry across Classic, WotLK, Cataclysm, and MoP databases now carries a
creatureTypefield matching the format used by the TBC database. This unlocks accurate CC matching across ~870 additional mobs that were previously stored as plain integers, so Polymorph / Sap / Banish / Shackle / Hibernate / Freezing Trap now resolve correctly in every supported dungeon and raid. - Expanded Trash Rosters: Added hundreds of missing trash mobs (non-caster vrykul, guards, dragonspawn, quilen, etc.) across all expansions so they get sensible default marks instead of falling through to FCFS.
- CC-Immune Flags: Tagged titan constructs, tentacles, faceless horrors, mechanicals, portals, and boss-mechanic adds with
ccImmune = trueso the allocator stops wasting CC marks on them. - Danger Flags: Added
dangerLeveltags to additional healers, necromancers, and reinforcement-callers found during the audit pass.
3.4.2
Bug Fixes
- Cascade Promotion Hole Closed: When the Skull target died, an empty Cross slot, and only CC-marked mobs remained alive, nothing was ever re-marked as the new kill target.
CascadeMarksAfterDeathnow promotes the highest-scoring CC mob directly to Skull when Cross is unoccupied. - Player-Target Filter in CC-Immunity Auto-Learn: The combat log handler now reads destFlags and skips player targets, preventing player names from being written into the mob DB when CC bounces in battlegrounds or arenas.
- Modifier Hotkey Capture: The reset-hotkey binder now captures SHIFT/CTRL/ALT combos (e.g.
SHIFT-F1) via a sharedFormatHotkeyCombohelper instead of only accepting the base key. - Classic-Only Heroic Detection:
HEROIC_DIFFICULTY_IDStrimmed to{2, 8}(5-man Heroic, MoP Challenge Mode). Retail Mythic/Mythic+ IDs removed since this addon targets Classic-era clients only. - CC Spell-ID Coverage:
CC_SPELL_IDSexpanded to cover Sap rank 4, Freezing Arrow, all Wyvern Sting ranks, Seduction, Repentance, Mind Control, and cosmetic Polymorph forms so auto-immunity learning fires on the full set of CC spells. - Cleanups: Removed a duplicate
autoResetkey inDB_DEFAULTSand deadHIGH_KEYWORDS/CC_KEYWORDStables.
3.4.1
Bug Fixes
- Reset Marks Throttle Fix: Rewrote
ResetStateto avoid hammeringSetRaidTargetin a single frame. Visible unit tokens are cleared directly first, then any remaining marks are bounced through the player with staggered 0.15 s delays viaC_Timer.After. A final safety clear ensures no mark is left on the player. This eliminates the "too many group actions" spam and the stuck Skull/Circle on the player's head when pressing the reset keybind or running/ama reset.
3.4.0
New Features
- Holistic Pack Scanning: Proximity and mouseover modes now evaluate the entire visible pack before assigning any marks. All mobs are scored by danger level, sorted highest-to-lowest, and marks are allocated in priority order. The most dangerous mob always receives Skull, regardless of encounter order.
- Danger Level Classification: The mob database now carries a
dangerLevelfield. Healers, summoners, and reinforcement callers are classified as Critical (3); AoE casters, fear mobs, and interrupt-priority targets as High (2). All five expansion databases (Classic, TBC, WotLK, Cata, MoP) are enriched with danger classifications. - Mouseover Context Awareness: Mouseover mode now dry-runs all higher-priority mobs before marking the hovered target, soft-reserving their mark slots. Hovering a low-priority mob no longer accidentally gives it Skull just because the pack hasn't been marked yet.
- Nuclear Reset: The reset function (
/ama reset, keybind) now clears all 8 marks regardless of who set them, whether the marked mobs are visible, in range, or on screen. Works by bouncing each mark through the player frame. After reset, all tracking state is wiped and the next scan re-evaluates from scratch. - Target Tie-Breaking: When multiple mobs have identical scores (e.g. an unknown pack), the player's current target receives a small score bonus so Skull naturally lands on whatever the tank is targeting.
Changes
- CC Mark Specificity: When multiple CC classes can handle the same creature type, the most specific ability now wins. Sap (Humanoid only) beats Polymorph (Humanoid/Beast/Critter) beats Freezing Trap (six types).
- Score-Based Cascade Promotion: When a marked mob dies and a CC-marked mob is promoted to Cross, the addon now picks the highest-scoring CC mob rather than whichever happened to hold the lowest mark index.
- Square (Hunter Trap) Enabled by Default: Square is now enabled for new installs. The CC specificity fix ensures Trap no longer steals marks from more precise abilities like Sap or Polymorph.
- Selective Reset Fallback: Auto-reset on leaving combat tries visible unit tokens first (no visual flash), then falls back to the player-bounce method for any marks on out-of-range mobs.
Bug Fixes
- GUID Deduplication: Fixed a bug where the same mob appearing under multiple unit tokens (target, nameplate, party target) could consume multiple mark slots during mouseover dry-run scoring.
- Description and README Updated: Rewrote addon description to accurately document holistic scanning, manual mode behaviour, danger classification, and the reset mechanism.
3.3.0
New Features
- Creature Type Awareness: The TBC database now stores creature types for every mob across all 16 dungeons and 9 raids. CC marks are validated against the mob's creature type at allocation time — Polymorph won't be assigned to a Demon, Sap won't be assigned to an Elemental.
- Difficulty-Based Priority: Mark allocation now adapts to dungeon difficulty. Normal dungeons prioritise kill marks (Skull → Cross → CC). Heroic dungeons prioritise crowd control (Skull → CC → Cross), keeping dangerous mobs locked down first.
- CC Immunity Detection: The addon monitors the combat log for CC spells that are resisted with IMMUNE. When detected, the mob is permanently flagged as CC-immune in your personal database, preventing future CC mark assignments on that mob.
- Runtime Creature Type Capture: When the addon marks a mob whose database entry lacks a creature type, it reads the live creature type from the game and saves it to your personal overlay database. The database enriches itself over time as you play.
- CC Immunity Database Field: Mob database entries now support an optional
ccImmuneflag. Mobs flagged as CC-immune (e.g., Void Traveler in Shadow Labyrinth) will never receive CC marks regardless of group composition. - Database Type Column: The Database tab now displays a creature type column for each mob. A small "Edit" checkbox next to the Type header unlocks creature type editing — click a mob's type to cycle through all creature types.
Changes
- TBC Database Enriched: All TBC dungeon and raid entries upgraded from plain mark numbers to the enriched format with creature types. Key corrections from Wowhead research: Underbog Shambler is Elemental (not Undead), Shattered Hand Savage is Humanoid (not Beast), all Black Morass Infinite mobs are Dragonkin.
- Group Composition Filtering: Proximity and Mouseover modes now only assign CC marks when the corresponding CC class is present in the group. Manual mode still shows all marks for full player control.
- Cascade on Death Improved: The rebalance-after-death system now syncs visible marks from live nameplates before cascading, fixing stale token issues that could prevent promotions.
- Stockade Database Enriched: The Stockade dungeon entries now include creature types and a missing mob (Defias Captive).
Bug Fixes
- CC on Wrong Creature Type: Fixed Sap being assigned to Undead mobs in Sethekk Halls. Sap is now correctly restricted to Humanoids only.
- Hunter Trap Creature Types: Expanded Freezing Trap compatibility to Humanoid, Beast, Demon, Dragonkin, Giant, and Undead (everything except Elemental, which is frost-immune).
- Fear Spells in CC Tracking: Removed Fear and Howl of Terror from the CC immunity spell list. A mob immune to Fear should not be flagged as immune to all crowd control.
- Duplicate Code Block: Removed an orphaned duplicate of the AllocateMark function that was left behind after a previous refactor.
3.2.1
Bug Fixes
- Manual Mode DB Rebuild: Manually marking a mob inside an instance now immediately rebuilds the zone mob database. Previously, learned marks were saved but not active until the next zone change, causing subsequent proximity/mouseover passes to use stale data.
3.2.0
New Features
- Database Zone Browser: Redesigned the Database tab with a full zone navigation tree. Browse all dungeons and raids organised by expansion (Classic → MoP), with collapsible Dungeons/Raids sub-categories. Select any zone to view and edit its mob marks — no need to be inside the instance.
- Current Zone Highlighting: Your current zone is highlighted green in the navigation tree and auto-expanded when the panel opens.
- Mob Count Indicators: Each zone in the navigation tree shows the number of configured mobs in parentheses.
Changes
- Database Structure: Expansion data is now split into
dungeonsandraidssub-tables for clearer organisation. - Reset Marks Keybind Default: New installs no longer have a default reset marks keybind. Existing users who set one will keep their binding.
3.1.0
New Features
- Per-Mob Mark Database: Replaced the old priority string system (HIGH/MEDIUM/LOW/CC) with concrete mark assignments per mob. Every mob in the database now maps directly to a specific mark index (e.g., Skull, Moon) or SKIP.
- Database Config Tab: New "Database" tab in the config panel. Browse all mobs for the current zone, see their assigned marks, left-click to cycle through marks, right-click to revert player overrides. Add custom mobs or reset the zone to defaults.
- Manual Mode Learning: In manual mode, marking a mob inside an instance automatically saves your preference to the database. Future pulls will use your learned marks.
- Smart Mark Allocation: New allocation chain — DB preference → kill marks (Skull/Cross FCFS) → CC by creature type and group composition → any remaining enabled mark → spill into reserved CC marks.
- CC Creature Type Matching: CC marks are only assigned to mobs whose creature type matches the CC ability (e.g., Moon only on Humanoids/Beasts for Polymorph, Star only on Undead for Shackle).
Bug Fixes
- Auto-Reset Respects Other Players: Leaving combat now only clears marks the addon set locally. Marks placed by other players (e.g., another tank marking the next pack) are preserved. Explicit user actions (
/ama reset, keybind) still clear everything. - Removed Player-Bounce Fallback: The reset logic no longer bounces marks through the player frame to force-clear orphaned marks. This prevented a race condition where bouncing could accidentally strip marks set by other players on mobs outside your scanning range.
- ForgetTrackedMark State Consistency: Fixed a minor state desync where clearing a mark that belonged to a different GUID could incorrectly nil the token reference for the actual owner.
- Manual Mode Clear Return Value:
CommitPendingManualMarknow correctly returns false when clearing a mark fails, instead of always returning true. - Removed Dead Code: Cleaned up unused
pullMarkCounttracking field and removed staleNormalizeZoneScopedMobSettings()call from the event handler.
Migration
- Existing saved variables are automatically migrated. Old
mobOverrides(HIGH→Skull, CC→Moon),mobRemovals(→SKIP), andzoneAdditionsare converted to the newmobMarksformat.
3.0.5
Bug Fixes
- Orphaned Mark Leaks (Ghost Marks): Resolved a critical state desync bug where marks owned by despawned or out-of-range mobs were never reclaimed. Skull and Cross could be permanently locked by a "ghost" owner from a previous pack, causing subsequent packs to receive incorrect marks (e.g. Triangle instead of Cross).
- Stale State in AllocateMark:
AllocateMarkandFindCCMarkpreviously trustedmarkOwnersblindly. These now call a newIsMarkSlotFree()helper which validates that the recorded owner GUID is still alive and visible before accepting the slot as taken. Dead or invisible owners are immediately evicted. - SyncVisibleMarks Stale-Owner Sweep: After scanning all visible tokens, the sync now compares every tracked GUID against what was actually seen alive. Any GUID not found in the world is purged from all tracking tables, eliminating orphaned entries that missed their death events (e.g. mobs dying beyond the 50-yard combat log range).
- ResetState Spam Fix: Rewrote reset to iterate mark indices rather than GUIDs, clearing each mark via a visible token first and only bouncing the remainder through the player. This prevents redundant
SetRaidTargetcalls that triggered "too many group actions" throttle messages. - CascadeMarksAfterDeath Token Validation: Promotion logic now uses a new
ResolveToken()helper to re-validate cached unit tokens before use. If a cached token points to a different mob or a corpse, it falls back to a full live scan. Stale slots are reclaimed automatically during cascade.
3.0.4
Architecture Changes
- First-Come-First-Serve (FCFS) System: Transitioned from a strict database priority system to a dynamic FCFS marking framework. The obsolete Database tab has been removed from the Configuration UI.
- Waterfall Cascading Marks: Added dynamic mark cascading upon target death. When the Skull target dies, the Cross target promotes to Skull, and the next available CC mark seamlessly promotes to Cross.
Enhancements
- Reset Marks Keybind: Re-engineered the frame handling for the "Reset Marks" functionality to ensure hardware input is cleanly captured. The default keybind is now 'F'. Pressing it correctly clears all marks explicitly assigned by the user.
- Manual Mode 'NONE' Modifier: You can now configure the Manual Marking mode to use "NONE" as the modifier key. Mouseover targets will immediately activate the scroll-wheel mark selector.
- Environment Targeting: Validated seamless support for anniversary (Classic) client environments.
AutoMarkAssist Changelog
3.0.3
Bug Fixes
- Verbose Mode Consistency: Fully integrated Verbose mode across all remaining slash commands and GUI configuration toggles. The chat frame will only alert you of changes you make via the GUI or chat commands if Verbose mode is properly toggled on!
Enhancements
- Tooltips Added: Added comprehensive descriptor tooltips to the checkboxes inside the configuration GUI.
- DB Saving: Added a new checkbox toggle to explicitly save manual marks you assign directly to the addon's memory database!
3.0.2
Bug Fixes
- Config UI Elements: Increased configuration window height to properly fit Announce Now and Preview buttons.
- Manual Mode Flickering: Fixed a bug where releasing the modifier key did not dismiss the underlying scroll listener, causing the mark selector HUD to flicker aggressively.
- Manual Mode Key States: Reworked manual mode to accurately respect the modifier key being pressed while already hovering over an enemy, instantly activating the mark selector.
- Preview & Announce Accuracy: Reverted behavior so Preview and Announce buttons accurately announce only marks enabled and that have a suitable class in the current group.
- Reset Notification: The "All marks cleared" chat message now properly respects the Verbose option.
Quality of Life
- No Modifier Option: Added a "NONE" option for the Manual modifier key, allowing you to cycle marks on hover via scroll wheel without holding any extra keys.
- Invert Scroll Options: Added a toggle to invert the scroll wheel direction in Manual marking mode.
3.0.0
Major Rewrite & Simplification
The entire architecture of AutoMarkAssist has been vastly simplified, dramatically reducing the codebase size to provide a leaner, more performant, and smarter marking experience.
New Features & Improvements
- Smart Group CC Recognition: CC assignments are now intelligently detected based on your active group composition. If you enter a dungeon and do not have a Mage, Moon (Polymorph) will not be assigned as a CC, and instead dynamically rolls over to serve as an extra Kill target.
- Three Distinct Modes: Marking modes have been streamlined into
Proximity(default),Mouseover, andManualtargeting. These function mutually exclusively to prevent confusing overlapping behaviors. - Filter-Aware Manual Scrolling: The Manual marking mode now precisely respects your disabled marks (for instance, skipping Square if you have it disabled in options) when using the scroll-wheel bindings.
- Refined Priority System: Removed the overly-complex configurable pool systems. Marks are now allocated in a fixed, logical order: Kill marks prioritize highest, followed directly by CC marks matching the specific
CreatureTypeto your group's present classes. - Revamped Configuration UI: The config panel has been thoroughly rebuilt.
- General Tab: A spacious, organized interface for mode selection, proximity range, announcement settings, and per-mark toggles.
- Database Tab: Browse the internal zone registry—now neatly grouped by Expansion categories—and assign priority overwrites directly. The list dynamically scales to fit longer target names.
- About Tab: Quick reference for commands and the fixed CC mark mapping layout.
- Auto-Announce on Entry: The addon will automatically post a well-formatted kill and CC plan to your party chat upon zoning into an instance based on exactly who is in your group.
Cleaned Up & Removed
Removed the confusing multi-tier pool system, pool editors, and encounter-specific rule sets.
Stripped out "skip filler mobs" complexity in favor of a straightforward "Skip Critters/Trivia" toggle.
Removed legacy sub-priority systems and manual zone-preference bloat.
Built-in seamless migration: Your old saved variables will be automatically upgraded, converting relevant options while purging obsolete legacy data.
Removed the Legend tab and fixed Smart Group CC to a single shipped icon layout.
Bug fixes
- Fixed the Options panel crash caused by the retired Legend-tab helper path.
- Fixed config navigation and related help text after collapsing to four tabs.
- Fixed mark-plan announce and preview so they only show CC labels for classes actually present.
AutoMarkAssist Changelog
2.7.17 (2026-04-13)
Changed
- Removed the Legend tab and fixed Smart Group CC to a single shipped icon layout: Moon for Polymorph, Diamond for Sap, Square for Trap, Star for Shackle, Circle for Hibernate, and Triangle for Banish.
Bug fixes
- Fixed the Options panel crash caused by the retired Legend-tab helper path still being referenced during refresh.
- Fixed config navigation and related help text after collapsing the options window back to four tabs.
- Fixed mark-plan announce and preview so they only show CC labels for classes actually present in the live party or raid roster, with the remaining active icons falling back to later kill-order lines.
2.7.16 (2026-04-13)
Bug fixes
- Fixed the Smart Group CC helper block in Core so later runtime functions such as reset, mouseover auto-marking, and live assignment load correctly again.
- Fixed the new visible-pull kill-order and Smart Group CC selection helpers so they no longer leave later Core functions nested or unavailable at runtime.
2.7.15 (2026-04-13)
Changed
- Extended Smart Group CC so the same roster-aware crowd-control solver now works in raid instances as well as 5-player dungeons.
- Locked Skull and Cross as fixed kill-order marks, removed them from Smart Group CC role preferences, and tightened the Legend tab so only active non-CC marks remain editable.
Bug fixes
- Fixed auto marking so remembered manual icon preferences only apply when they still fit the mob's current tier and the player's active pools.
- Fixed mark preview and announce output so they only list marks that are active in the current pools, which keeps presets like Kill Only aligned with live marking behavior.
- Fixed pool editor updates so Smart Group CC reminders refresh immediately after pool changes instead of waiting for the next group or zone event.
2.7.14 (2026-04-13)
Bug fixes
- Fixed 5-player Smart Dungeon CC so pulls that fit inside the configured kill-order pool use those primary marks first before any dedicated CC icons are assigned.
- Fixed rebalance and death-cascade passes so they now follow the same kill-order-first Smart Dungeon CC rules as the initial mark assignment.
- Updated the Smart Dungeon CC help text so the in-game UI now explains the kill-order-first behavior for small pulls.
2.7.13 (2026-04-12)
Changed
- Added Legend-tab Smart Dungeon CC role-mark preferences so groups can choose which icon each CC type prefers, such as moon for sheep or diamond for sap.
Bug fixes
- Made the party permission gate explicit so AutoMarkAssist never treats 5-player groups as leader-gated and only applies raid leader or assistant checks inside raids.
- Fixed automatic dungeon CC announcement refresh so changing Smart Dungeon CC role-mark preferences invalidates the cached party-assignment state immediately.
- Fixed Steamvault Spore Bats so they use kill-order marks instead of falling through to the generic bat crowd-control heuristic.
- Corrected release-facing permission messaging so the addon no longer claims party leadership is required where the live client allows party-wide marking.
2.7.12 (2026-04-12)
Changed
- Enabled any party member to mark in 5 man groups.
2.7.11 (2026-04-11)
Changed
- Added a General-tab note that explains proximity and mouseover are mutually exclusive automatic scan modes, while Manual Mode pauses automatic scanning without clearing the preferred automatic mode.
Bug fixes
- Fixed Manual Mode so it still works when auto-marking is disabled instead of appearing enabled while the HUD and scroll-wheel catcher remain inert.
- Fixed the mouseover update flow so the manual mark picker still opens while auto-marking is off, but automatic mouseover marking remains gated by the enabled toggle.
- Fixed the shared mark-permission check so manual scroll-wheel marking can bypass the auto-marking enabled gate without bypassing raid-marker permission rules.
2.7.10 (2026-04-11)
Changed
- Automatic marking now defaults to proximity as the single active scan mode, and enabling mouseover auto-marking turns proximity off automatically.
Bug fixes
- Fixed dynamic bump-marking so displaced mobs are re-evaluated with the correct source-specific range rules instead of falling back to generic proximity behavior.
- Fixed rebalance and death-cascade fill passes so mouseover-only setups no longer backfill extra marks through proximity-style scans when proximity mode is disabled.
- Fixed automatic range enforcement so proximity and mouseover marking each respect the player-selected interact-distance option for that specific mode.
2.7.9 (2026-04-11)
Changed
- Added a dedicated mouseover auto-mark toggle so mouseover and proximity scanning can be enabled independently.
- The config window now remembers its last position between sessions.
Bug fixes
- Fixed automatic mark assignment so configured HIGH, CC, MEDIUM, and LOW pools are respected before any Skull/Cross fallback is considered.
- Fixed shared range checks so disabling proximity no longer breaks mouseover auto-marking, and mouseover range limits only apply to mouseover-driven marking.
- Fixed stale settings state between slash commands, the minimap popup, and the General tab so the visible controls now reflect the real addon state immediately.
- Fixed the Repeat Party CC button state so it no longer appears available while the addon is disabled or Manual Mode is active.
- Fixed manual scroll-order drag-and-drop so dropping icons lands in the correct slot even when the options frame is scaled down.
2.7.8 (2026-04-07)
Changed
- Updated the automated packaging label template again so newly published CurseForge files use the hyphenated
AutoMarkAssist-vX.Y.Zformat. - Refreshed the CurseForge project description so it now points to the public GitHub repository and issue tracker for source browsing and bug reports.
2.7.7 (2026-04-07)
Changed
- Updated the automated GitHub and CurseForge packaging label so published CurseForge files now include the addon name instead of showing only the raw version number.
2.7.6 (2026-04-07)
New features
- Added announcement formatting controls so mark and dungeon CC reminders can be posted line-by-line or as a single chat line.
- Added a customizable chat prefix for announcements, including the option to leave it blank and remove the prefix entirely.
- Added a General-tab toggle and
/ama ccautocommand so automatic dungeon Smart CC reminders can be disabled while keeping manual/ama ccannouncerepeats available. - Added public GitHub packaging metadata and a tag-driven release workflow for automated CurseForge uploads.
Bug fixes
- Fixed raid-marker permission checks so party auto-marking only runs for the actual party leader, while raids still require leader or assistant permissions.
- Suppressed mark and dungeon CC announcements when the player cannot place raid markers, preventing chat from implying active marks when Blizzard blocks icon placement.
2.7.5 (2026-04-06)
Bug fixes
- Fixed Smart Dungeon CC so dungeon CC marks now match the party's actual CC-capable classes instead of being assigned greedily by party order.
- Smart Dungeon CC now respects kill-only CC pool setups and no longer announces dedicated CC roles when no dedicated CC marks are configured.
- Dungeon CC reminders now refresh automatically when the party roster changes inside a dungeon.
- Disabling the addon now suppresses announcements, Smart CC behavior, and runtime mark-maintenance actions until the addon is re-enabled.
2.7.4 (2026-04-06)
Bug fixes
- Fixed the reset-defaults helper text anchor so it now sits below the Reset Addon Settings to Defaults button instead of overlapping it.
- Kept the earlier General-tab spacing fixes in place so the settings dialog now has stable vertical spacing across the full tab.
2.7.3 (2026-04-06)
Bug fixes
- Fixed the Manual Mode wheel-direction row so the Scroll Down Starts Left control no longer clips against the next section.
- Added more bottom spacing in the General tab so the reset-defaults helper text stays fully visible at the bottom of the options window.
2.7.2 (2026-04-06)
Bug fixes
- Fixed the General-tab Smart Dungeon CC row so the checkbox label no longer collides with the Repeat Party CC and How It Works buttons.
- Gave the wrapped Smart Dungeon CC helper text and reset-defaults helper text more reserved space so they stay fully visible in the settings dialog.
- Added extra bottom padding to the General tab scroll child so the reset-defaults note is no longer cut off at the bottom edge.
2.7.1 (2026-04-06)
Changed
- Login no longer auto-opens the About or What's New dialog. Release notes remain available from the About tab or with /ama whatsnew.
- Existing profiles now get a one-time chat confirmation when the automated-defaults migration runs.
Bug fixes
- Fixed the General-tab layout so wrapped Smart Dungeon CC and reset note text no longer overlap nearby controls.
2.7.0 (2026-04-06)
New features
- Dungeon Smart CC can now announce party CC responsibilities in party chat after the initial dungeon-entry group scan.
- Added repeat reminder controls for dungeon CC assignments in the General tab, the minimap menu, and with /ama ccannounce, /ama repeatcc, or /ama ccremind.
Changed
- Updated the Smart Dungeon CC help text and General-tab messaging so the automatic announcement and reminder flow is documented in the addon UI.
2.6.0 (2026-04-06)
New features
- Expanded the built-in mob database so every supported Classic raid through MoP now has shipped coverage, including new Wrath, Cataclysm, and Mists raid zone entries plus their aliases and Database tab ordering.
Changed
- Reviewed the new later-expansion raid priorities again and kept the shipped data conservative by focusing on dangerous trash, key encounter adds, and useful boss fallback targets.
- New profiles now default to proximity marking and Smart Dungeon CC so the addon starts in its most automated mode without extra setup.
- Existing profiles now receive a one-time migration that turns on proximity marking and Smart Dungeon CC to match the new automated defaults.
- The General-tab reset-to-defaults action now restores clean copied defaults and reapplies the related runtime state safely.
- Updated Wrath, Cataclysm, and MoP TOC metadata plus the in-addon What's New text so the release-facing coverage descriptions match the data each client actually loads.
2.5.0 (2026-04-06)
New features
- Expanded the built-in mob database so every supported Classic raid through MoP now has shipped coverage, including new Wrath, Cataclysm, and Mists raid zone entries plus their aliases and Database tab ordering.
- Added a first-load What's New popup for new versions, with the latest notes re-openable from the About tab or with /ama whatsnew.
- Added optional Smart Dungeon CC in 5-player dungeons that adapts CC marks to party composition and creature type, with a General-tab toggle/help button plus /ama smartcc and /ama groupcc.
Changed
- Reviewed dungeon and raid priority data again and kept the later-expansion raid entries conservative by focusing on dangerous trash, key encounter adds, and useful boss fallback targets.
- Announce and preview output now follows the active CC pool so Smart Dungeon CC and CC-limit messaging match live assignment behavior.
- Updated addon wording, TOC notes, README, and CurseForge docs so each client now advertises the full dungeon and raid coverage it actually loads.
2.4.9 (2026-04-05)
New features
- Added an optional Smart Dungeon CC mode that adapts CC-mark assignment to the current 5-player group composition and the target's creature type.
- Added
/ama smartccand/ama groupccslash toggles plus a General-tab help button for the new dungeon-only CC behavior.
Changed
- Reviewed dungeon and raid priority data again and kept the highest-confidence encounter-specific TBC raid add handling, with clarifying database comments where the priorities are intentional.
- Legend preview and announce output now use the active CC pool so Smart Dungeon CC and CC-limit messaging stay aligned with live assignment behavior.
2.4.8 (2026-04-05)
New features
- Added built-in mob database coverage for every Classic raid and every TBC raid, including aliases and Database tab ordering for the new instance entries.
- Added a first-load What's New popup for new versions, with the latest notes re-openable from the About tab or
/ama whatsnew.
Changed
- Updated the About tab, slash-command guidance, and TOC metadata so the addon now describes supported instances instead of dungeon-only coverage.
- Refreshed the addon documentation and added a root README to reflect raid coverage through TBC.
- Performed a second-pass raid data review and kept Hyjal Summit entries to the highest-confidence trash names pending live in-game verification.
2.4.7 (2026-04-03)
- Removed the redundant square minimap positioning toggle from the General tab and minimap tooltip. The minimap button now follows the actual minimap shape automatically.
- Renamed the Legend tab preview action to make it clear that preview is local chat output, not a group-channel announcement.
- Tightened the About tab overview and command section so the visible slash-command list only shows commands that actually exist in the addon.
2.4.6 (2026-04-03)
New features
- Raid-safe mark syncing across party and raid target tokens.
- Added in-game help popups for sub-priority and manual mark saving.
- Added a General-tab toggle for square minimap button positioning.
Changed
- Between-pull refresh now preserves visible raid icons when combat ends.
- Manual mouseover marking now previews any icon and applies on close or target switch.
- Manual mode help text and picker hints were clarified.
Bug fixes
- Raid leader and assistant permissions are respected before setting icons.
- Local cleanup and rebalance no longer clear or steal icons from other players.
- Fixed stale manual picker state after moving a mark from one mob to another.
2.4.5 (2026-03-24)
New features
- In-game sub-priority editor in the Database tab. Each mob row now includes a dedicated Sub tie-break column so you can set custom per-zone sub-priorities without slash commands. Left-click cycles 1-9; right-click clears the custom value.
Changed
- Database tab sorting now honours effective sub-priority inside each main tier, so custom and built-in tie-breaks are visible in the editor.
- Reset/delete actions in the Database tab now clear stored sub-priority overrides as well as priority overrides/removals.
2.4.4 (2026-03-19)
New features
- Sub-priority tie-break support inside each tier. Auto-marking now supports an optional per-mob sub-priority (1 = highest) to break ties when multiple mobs share the same main tier (HIGH/CC/MEDIUM/LOW). Lower sub-priority mobs now claim better icons first, including dynamic bumping and death rebalancing/cascade.
- In-combat mark lock toggle. Added "Lock existing auto-marks while in combat" in General -> Dynamic Marking and slash alias /ama lock (or /ama combatlock). When enabled, auto marking/reassignment is paused during combat so Skull/Cross stay stable unless you mark manually.
Changed
- Added built-in Shadow Labyrinth tie-break defaults for high-threat casters (Cabal Shadow Priest before Cabal Hexer, then Cabal Warlock, then Cabal Cultist).
- Minimap tooltip now shows the current Combat mark lock status.
2.4.3 (2026-03-15)
Bug fixes
- Fixed option buttons not retaining visible selected state. Range and CC limit buttons now keep their active highlight after mouse hover/leave transitions, so the selected value remains obvious in the UI.
- Fixed inconsistent proximity fallback range. Runtime proximity checks and minimap tooltip fallback now default to ~28 yd when a saved proximityRange value is missing, matching UI/default DB behavior instead of falling back to ~10 yd.
- Fixed combat-log death parsing race window. COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED now reads CombatLogGetCurrentEventInfo() once per event, avoiding potential field desync under heavy combat log throughput.
2.4.2 (2026-03-14)
New features
- CC Limit setting. A new "CC Limit" row in the Dynamic Marking section of the General tab lets you cap how many mobs receive CC (crowd control) marks per pull. Choose from No Limit (default), 1, 2, or 3. When the limit is reached, additional CC-priority mobs are automatically downgraded to kill-order marks. Example: set to 2 when you have two Mages in the group, and only 2 mobs will receive CC marks while the rest get kill-order icons.
- Announce / Preview honours CC Limit. The /ama announce chat output and the Legend tab preview now omit CC-pool marks that exceed the configured CC limit, so the announced plan matches what the addon will actually assign.
Bug fixes
- Fixed mouseover marking silently disabled when proximity mode is ON. The UPDATE_MOUSEOVER_UNIT handler contained a not proximityMode guard that blocked all mouseover auto-marks whenever the proximity scanner was also enabled. Because the UI presents the two features as independent toggles, users enabling both got only proximity marking while mouseover appeared broken. The guard was redundant - AssignMark already skips mobs tracked in markedGUIDs, preventing double-assignment. Removed the proximity guard so both modes now coexist correctly.
2.4.1 (2026-03-11)
Bug fixes
- Fixed mark picker HUD freezing in manual mode. The mouseover range gate was evaluated before the manual-mode check in the UPDATE_MOUSEOVER_UNIT handler. When a mob was beyond the configured interact distance, the handler returned early and ShowMarkPickerForMouseover() was never called - the HUD stayed frozen on the previous target and could not be dismissed. The range gate now only applies to auto-marking modes; manual mode always updates the picker regardless of distance.
2.4.0 (2026-03-10)
Changed
- Database tab zone list reversed. Expansion groups now display with the latest (current) expansion at the top, so the dungeons you are actually running are immediately visible. "Other" (user-added) zones remain at the bottom.
Bug fixes
- Fixed priority cycle not reaching BOSS/HIGH/CC. Left-clicking a mob in the Database tab now wraps the priority cycle from REMOVED back to BOSS instead of resetting to the base priority. Previously, mobs with a base priority of MEDIUM or lower could never be overridden to HIGH, CC, or BOSS - the cycle only advanced forward and then snapped back to the base value.
2.3.0 (2026-03-10)
New features
- Mouseover range limit. A new "Mouseover Range" section on the General tab lets you cap the distance at which mouseover marking triggers. Choose from ~11 yd, ~10 yd, or ~28 yd (default). Prevents accidental marks on mobs visible across the map. The setting applies to both auto and manual mouseover modes. Enabled by default at ~28 yd (follow range).
2.2.0 (2026-03-10)
Changed
- Dropped Retail (Mainline) support. Blizzard made SetRaidTarget and other marking APIs fully protected in Patch 12.0.0 (Midnight), making it impossible for addons to apply raid target icons during combat. After four rounds of workarounds (v2.1.2-v2.1.5) that could not resolve the "blocked from an action" popups, Retail support has been removed. AutoMarkAssist is now a Classic-only addon.
Removed
- Deleted AutoMarkAssist_Mainline.toc and AutoMarkAssist_DB_Retail.lua.
- Removed all Retail code paths: IS_RETAIL/IS_CLASSIC flags, GameSetRaidTarget wrapper, SecureActionButtonTemplate workaround, combat-lockdown helpers, "Apply Mark Keybind" config section, nameplate-range proximity branch, and Retail edition string.
- All mark calls now use pcall(SetRaidTarget, ...) directly.
- Updated all documentation to reflect Classic-only status.
2.1.x (2.1.0 - 2.1.5)
2.1.0 - Classic variant support (2026-03-09)
- Five Classic variants from a single addon folder. Classic Era (Vanilla), TBC Classic, WotLK Classic, Cata Classic, and MoP Classic each get their own TOC file. WoW's multi-TOC loader selects the correct one automatically.
- Cumulative dungeon coverage. Each variant loads its expansion's dungeons plus all earlier ones: Vanilla 19, TBC 35, WotLK 51, Cata 63, MoP 69.
- Modular database architecture. Per-expansion modules (_DB_Classic.lua through _DB_MoP.lua) loaded cumulatively by each TOC.
- Dynamic edition string. The About tab auto-detects the loaded expansion range and dungeon count.
2.1.1 - 2.1.5 - Retail workarounds (superseded by 2.2.0)
- Updated TOC interface versions for Midnight and all Classic variants.
- Attempted four rounds of Retail taint/combat-lockdown fixes (custom popup menu, taint-free scroll frames, SecureActionButtonTemplate keybind approach, InCombatLockdown() guards). All superseded by the full Retail removal in v2.2.0.
