What's new
AutoCompanion Forever 6.2.12
New: Boosts (under Advanced)
- Time of day boost: at night (21:00–06:00, in-game time) night companions (owls, Black Tabby, Elven Wisp, Spectral Bear Cub, the lanterns) are twice as likely and can come out in any zone; by day they're half as likely. The same goes for chickens in the morning (06:00–10:00).
- Holiday boost: festival companions are four times as likely during their holiday (Winter Veil, Hallow's End, Love is in the Air, Lunar Festival, Midsummer and Children's Week) and suit every zone then. Read from the game's calendar. Hallow's End also boosts night companions, spiders, demons and oozes. During Winter Veil, the other winter companions suit every zone and get a smaller boost.
- Both are off by default and work together with Match zone. A holiday boost and a time of day boost don't stack: the holiday wins. No effect in dungeons, raids and battlegrounds. Zone and seasonal boosts together are capped, so no companion swamps the rest.
- Tiny Snowman, Winter Reindeer and the Winter Helpers don't suit any zone outside Winter Veil.
Match zone
- "Mostly" is now called "Boost" (Off / Boost / Only), to match the other boosts. Your setting stays as it was.
- Subzones that suit certain companions extra well:
- Water: lakes, ponds, rivers, waterfalls, coasts, bays and the open sea, plus swimming anywhere.
- Farms: farms, orchards, vineyards, ranches and mills.
- Special spots: graveyards, mines, pirate haunts, goblin towns, spider dens, dragon lairs, groves and moonwells, and volcanic spots.
- At such a spot its companions are three times as likely. On Only, random picks choose among them.
- Bringing one out: the 5 seconds start as you enter. After that, as soon as you stand still, one of the spot's companions comes out (Only) or is rolled for (Boost). Riding straight through doesn't count. In the water, 5 seconds is enough.
- Leaving with a companion the spot brought out: 30 seconds later the addon rolls again for the zone. If it rolls the same one, it stays. Going back within the 30 seconds cancels it. Picking a companion yourself at a spot keeps it until you leave.
- Away from the water and the farms: in zones where they're only in places, their companions are half as likely (Boost) or don't suit (Only). Westfall counts as farmland everywhere. Special-spot companions keep suiting the rest of their zones.
- New water: lakes in zones that had none (Eastern Plaguelands, Mulgore, Stonetalon, Mount Hyjal, Deadwind Pass, Zephras Isle), and Stormwind's harbor, lake and pond.
- New categories:
- Turtles (Speedy), only by water and never in snowy zones.
- Plants (lashlings, Blossoming Ancient) in lush green zones and jungles.
- Fish only, no frogs, at snowy lakes.
- Murlocs count as sea and lake companions, and fish suit the sea too.
- Vermin split in two:
- Rats and mice suit every city.
- Beetles, weevils and roaches suit deserts and barren lands.
- Cockroach, Undercity Cockroach and Plagued Cockroach only suit Undercity.
- Zones:
- Westfall suits cats and has its coast, with no snakes or turtles; the Deadmines matches Westfall.
- Stranglethorn has spiders, Thousand Needles snakes, and Feralas no snakes.
- Redridge, Loch Modan, Wetlands and Dustwallow have farm animals only at their farms.
- Companions:
- Tranquil Mechanical Yeti and Frosty Lashling are winter only.
- Spectral Bear Cub is no longer nature.
- Corrupted Kitten is a demon, and Lifelike Toad a gadget.
General
- Companions change while you ride on a ground mount, like in the other versions of the game. Only flying waits.
Options
- The Advanced tab and the Settings page are more compact, so everything fits.
- A little more space between the checkboxes and their labels.
- About shows the addon version, its release date and the game version you're running.
Activity log & diagnostics
- The report says whether you're at the water, a farm or a special spot.
- The log shows the subzones you pass, when you start and stop swimming, the spots' rolls and their results.
- "Companion gone" no longer mentions caging, releasing or trading.
