AstraCue Custom License 2.0 — Reserved Rights
Effective date: 2026-10-02
Developer and project lead: Babaydook.
Copyright (c) 2026 Babaydook, to the extent of rights held in original contributions.
1. Scope and reserved rights
This license applies to the original AstraCue code, documentation and other
materials included in releases that expressly carry this license, only to the
extent Babaydook holds the relevant rights (the "Protected Materials").
Permissions not expressly granted below are reserved by their rights holders.
THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt and ASSET_PROVENANCE.csv describe third-party rights,
origins and limits of the available evidence.
2. Free personal use and readable source
You may download, install, run, test and inspect AstraCue free of charge. You
may make copies and backups for your own use and modify it privately for your
own use. Private modifications need not be submitted to Babaydook.
The distributed addon source must remain completely visible, readable and
freely accessible to the general public. Do not hide or obfuscate that source.
You may link to official downloads and publish reviews, screenshots, videos,
bug reports and limited excerpts reasonably necessary to discuss or report
issues with the addon, with attribution where Protected Materials are shown.
3. Authorized hosting and installation
Babaydook may publish releases and provide testing copies. When Babaydook
submits a release to CurseForge or another authorized distribution service,
the service may host, reproduce and deliver it under the separate agreement
accepted by Babaydook. This license does not narrow permissions granted to
that service by its applicable author terms.
Addon managers may obtain official releases through authorized download
interfaces and cache, install and update them for users, subject to the
service's terms. This permits the delivery needed for those installations;
it does not grant a general right to create independent mirrors or listings.
Preserve the license, author credits and applicable third-party notices in
copies delivered under this section, subject to separate platform agreements.
4. Redistribution and reuse require permission
Except as allowed above, by applicable law or by an independently applicable
third-party license, prior written permission from Babaydook is required to:
- redistribute or reupload all or a substantial part of the Protected Materials,
including complete unmodified packages, mirrors and repackaged copies;
- distribute modified versions, forks or derivatives of Protected Materials;
- incorporate Protected Materials into another distributed project.
These requirements apply whether distribution is free or paid and whether
the recipient is an individual, a group or the general public. Renaming the
addon or changing its author field does not create a redistribution permission.
Request permission through the developer's contact channel listed on the
official project page. Silence is not permission.
5. Attribution and presentation
Retain the applicable copyright, license and third-party notices in copies of
Protected Materials. Do not falsely claim authorship of those materials or
present AstraCue as your own original project. Do not imply authorization,
affiliation or endorsement by Babaydook, Blizzard or OpenAI without permission.
Identification, truthful comparison, criticism and accurate credit for your
own independent work remain allowed. No exclusive trademark rights in the
project name are certified or granted by this license.
6. Independent work and third-party rights
General ideas, game mechanics, public APIs, standard Lua expressions,
functional requirements, simple unprotected shapes and independently created
implementations are outside the Protected Materials. Reading the source does
not prevent you from independently implementing such ideas.
Third-party material retains its own license and notices. In particular, the
original HekiLight/Meruuke MIT permissions remain in force for material covered
by MIT. No clause here restricts permissions granted by those licenses or
mandatory rights and exceptions under applicable law.
World of Warcraft, Blizzard client resources and APIs remain subject to their
holders' rights. No rights in those resources are granted here. Client media
are referenced at runtime; extracted Blizzard media files are not bundled.
AI-assisted material is covered only to the extent of rights actually held.
AI generation does not establish unique output or copyright protection for
every generated component. No rights in OpenAI's service, models, third-party
materials or another user's output are granted.
7. Free distribution and game rules
AstraCue must remain free to download and use. Do not require payment,
mandatory donations or paid access, or create paid premium addon features.
Do not add in-game advertising or donation requests. Use and authorized
distribution must comply with Blizzard's UI Add-On Development Policy,
World of Warcraft Terms of Use and EULA. This license does not authorize
bypassing protected client data or automating spell casts. Blizzard may change
or disable addon functionality.
8. Warranty and liability
The package is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the maximum
extent permitted by applicable law. The licensor is not liable for losses
arising from its use to the extent that exclusion is lawful. Mandatory
statutory rights and liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded are preserved.
