What's new

Anniversary Boosted UI 1.6.0

New

  • Arena Portraits. Compact frames for the enemy team during an arena match, shown only inside an arena and moved as a single block. Left click targets, right click opens the unit menu. Includes enemy cast bars, a PvP trinket cooldown tracker, an outline on whoever you are currently targeting or focusing, a readout of who each opponent is targeting, a healer marker applied the first time an opponent heals, and fading for opponents who move out of range. Because an arena gives you about a minute before the gates open, a test mode puts sample opponents on screen so the block can be placed and sized in advance. Off by default.
  • Interrupt Alert. Tells you the moment your target, focus or an arena opponent begins a cast you can interrupt: it lights up your interrupt on the action bar, shows a center-screen alert with the enemy spell and a cast timer, plays a sound, and flashes that opponent's arena cast bar. Your interrupt is detected from your class, with a manual override if the detection is wrong. It stays quiet while your interrupt is on cooldown and when the cast cannot be interrupted, so the alert always means something. Works in battlegrounds and out in the world, not only in arenas. There is also an optional clickable button bound to your class's interrupt, which sits dim until an interrupt is wanted and lights up when one is. It stays on screen at all times rather than appearing mid-cast, because the game does not allow a spell to be placed on a button during combat, and it can be given a keybind with a macro containing /click ABUI_InterruptButton. Off by default.
  • Battleground Frames. Moves and resizes the battleground display the game draws for you: the score readout across the top of the screen, the capture meter, the end-of-match scoreboard, and the battleground map. Each piece is turned on separately and has its own size slider, and nothing the game owns is touched until you ask for it. Because these frames only exist while you are inside a battleground, there is nothing to drag beforehand, so a preview mode draws stand-ins in their place that disappear on their own the moment the real frames appear. If another addon already moves one of these frames, ABUI leaves that one alone and says which addon has it on the options page. Off by default.
  • Modern Bags. Choose how your bags look, from three styles. Blizzard default leaves them as the game ships. Modern keeps your five separate bags in place and restyles them to match the rest of the addon, with a flat dark backdrop and quality-coloured item borders; it changes appearance only, so nothing about how items behave changes. One bag window replaces them with a single grid holding the backpack and all four bags together, with a search box that dims anything not matching, stack counts, cooldown swipes and a free slot counter, opened by your normal bag key and closed with ESC. Items work normally in every style, including during combat, because the buttons are built on Blizzard's own container template. Both custom styles can tint empty slots so free space is easy to read at a glance, with an adjustable strength, and the tint clears itself as soon as a slot holds something. Blizzard default is the shipped setting.

Changed

  • Party and raid frames have been removed, in favour of Blizzard's own party and raid frames. Their settings, slash commands and the raid debuff highlight that only ever drew on those frames have all been taken out. Existing saved settings are left alone and simply stop being used.
  • The action bar fade no longer recalculates mouseover state on every rendered frame, and 3D portraits no longer reload the character model when a slider moves or the frames are rescaled.
  • Move frames now covers everything added this version. The arena block, the interrupt alert and its button, the battleground frames and the one bag window can all be dragged in the addon's move mode alongside the existing frames.
  • The Range Finder description now states the actual distance bracket it reports, rather than implying a precision it does not have.
  • Slash commands for features that no longer exist have been removed: the whole /abui raid family, /abui party scale, and the aura commands covering the important-debuff list and the party and raid debuff options.

Fixed

  • Fall and environmental damage now shows what caused it. The number appeared in 1.5.0 but the word never did, so a fall read as "-350" instead of "-350 Falling". Drowning, fatigue, fire, lava and slime are covered too.
  • One feature asking for something this game client does not provide no longer stops the rest of that feature from loading. It now degrades quietly, and /abui events lists anything that was refused.
  • Crowd Control now tracks the crowd control your pet applies, so a Succubus's Seduction and a Hunter pet's Intimidation appear. Both were listed but could never be shown.
  • Minimap buttons belonging to other addons can be dragged again. Their drag handling was being replaced whether or not the minimap icon option was on.
  • The cast bar no longer turns red and reports "Failed" when an unrelated instant fizzles while a real cast is in progress.
  • The target and focus cast bars now show a spell that is already being channeled when you select the unit, instead of showing nothing.
  • A channeled spell is no longer marked "Failed" while it is still running.
  • Three options pages carried stale instructions telling you to tick an Unlock box that no longer exists. The Casting Bar, Totem Timer and Info Bar pages now point at Move frames instead.
  • The unit-frame aura toggle works. It previously reported a change and did nothing; auras now hide and show immediately, with no reload.
  • "Only my auras" now filters buffs as well as debuffs.
  • Changing the chat font no longer silently discards the bold chat setting.
  • The Loss of Control alert no longer leaves a stale countdown under the second effect once that effect has gone.
  • The Info Bar backdrop keeps up with its contents during combat instead of holding a stale width.
  • Resetting settings no longer silently discards changes made afterwards. /abui reset now reloads the interface itself instead of asking you to type /reload, which is what lost the changes. The saved copy of your Blizzard combat text settings now survives switching or resetting a profile as well.
  • Turning custom combat text off during combat no longer leaves you with no floating numbers at all: restoring Blizzard's categories is now retried when combat ends rather than abandoned.
  • The one-time repair of Blizzard's master combat text setting is now applied only to profiles that actually used this addon's combat text, instead of to everyone, so a deliberate choice to keep Blizzard's floating text off is respected.
  • The setup wizard's size buttons now include the default size, so a new profile no longer shows nothing selected and reports a size you are not using.
