Description
alaTradeSkill Forever is an unofficial modified fork of alaTradeSkill by ALA / alexqu0822. The original project is licensed under GNU GPLv3, and this fork retains that license. Credit for the original addon belongs to its author.
I couldn’t find a Forever-compatible version, so I vibecoded an adaptation and am sharing it for anyone else who wants to use it.
Changes from the original:
- Compatibility with Forever’s modern profession interface and spell/item APIs.
- Fixed errors involving recipe filtering, tooltips, missing item data, and unavailable Classic talent APIs.
- Known-recipe filtering uses the current profession’s live learned recipes.
- Recipe names display live orange, yellow, green, and gray difficulty colors.
- Main recipe list sorts by difficulty, then by highest next difficulty threshold.
- Updated yellow and gray thresholds for 1,250 existing recipes using Forever build 1.60.1.70338 data. Green thresholds use the rounded-down midpoint; original learning requirements are preserved.
- Added an “Ala” button beneath the profession window’s close button instead of automatically opening the addon.
- Pressing Ala opens the main addon window and the new Cheapest Skill-ups window in front. Pressing Ala again or closing the profession window closes both.
- Cheapest Skill-ups lists learned recipes that can raise your skill, with ascending material-cost or net-cost sorting using Auctionator prices.
- Net cost compares material cost against the crafted output’s AH value, before auction fees.
- Added recipe icons, hover tooltips, difficulty-colored names, and a compact, color-coded Skill levels column.
- Added a live-updating Chance column using the estimated formula
(Gray Skill − Current Skill) / (Gray Skill − Yellow Skill), capped at 0–100%. - Cheapest Skill-ups opens on page 1 with Orange + yellow enabled and materials sorted cheapest first. The filter can be disabled to include green recipes.
- Prices refresh when Auctionator’s database updates; missing prices display as Unknown and sort last.
Tested on Forever 1.60.1. Some recipe information still uses the original Classic database. Green thresholds are calculated, and skill-up percentages are estimates rather than server-reported probabilities.
