Description
Ever walk out of a mine wondering how much copper you left behind? Mines hide a lot of ore down side tunnels and behind breakable rock. Mine Scanner shows how much is left in the mine you're standing in.
When you walk into a mine, a small panel appears on the left of the screen. It scans the mine, then shows the percent remaining of each ore type and of the breakable rock. It updates as you mine and disappears when you leave.
Main features
- Percent remaining per type, e.g. Copper, Poor Copper Ore, Iron and Breakable Rock. The count includes ore you can't see yet, behind walls and inside veins.
- Updates as you mine, within a second or two.
- "Mine Empty" appears once everything is gone.
- Markers for the last few nodes: for all you completionists out there, I added node markers for those last few pesky hidden nodes. Once a type drops below 5%, the nearest veins that still have ore get a small marker with the distance, visible through walls. That ends blindly swinging at cave walls.
- Built for performance: it scans in small batches, so it doesn't stutter.
- Read-only: it changes nothing in your game
Installation
- Install UE4SS for Windrose (see Requirements).
- Unzip MineScanner.zip into Windrose\R5\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\. You should end up with ...\ue4ss\Mods\MineScanner\Scripts\main.lua
- Start the game. The included enabled.txt turns the mod on, so you don't need to edit mods.txt.
To uninstall, delete the MineScanner folder.
Requirements
- UE4SS: a build that runs on Windrose's Unreal Engine 5.6. The stock UE4SS 3.0.1 release doesn't work with Windrose, so use an experimental build.
Good to know
- It only runs on your game. It isn't needed on a server, and other players don't need it unless they want the panel themselves.
- Co-op: when other players mine, your numbers catch up once you're near the vein they mined, or the next time you enter the mine.
- Ore types: the scanner works with every block type the game's mine system uses (copper, iron, sulfur and breakable rock), using the game's own names. It's been tested mostly in copper mines.
- Loading into a mine: the panel appears a few seconds after you load in.
- Game updates: a Windrose update may break the mod until I update it. If the panel stops appearing, check here for an update.
