Camera Utilities

Allows modifying the field of view (FoV) via an in-game menu. Also allows adjusting further visibility options to prevent problems introduced at higher FoV.

This mod increases the max FoV in-game to 140. It also adds a few options to counteract problems this can introduce. The menu can be accessed and closed by pressing backslash. If your mouse cursor does not focus on the game after using the menu, or if the cursor is otherwise visible or invisible when the opposite is expected, simply click on the game window and/or press escape. The menu will not open while paused, so the ideal time to use it is in-game, without pausing.

As of 7/5/2026, there is no official FoV slider in the game. Official support may be added in the future. Until then, I have made this mod.

As of 7/8/2026, there is an official FoV slider! It is capped at 110, so this mod bumps that up to 140, in addition to offering the other features.

When playing at a higher FoV than intended, there will be graphical artifacts. This mod adds options to correct these problems.

The nearclip option allows you to adjust the minimum range at which things begin to render. This helps prevent seeing parts of the player model cutting off or being able to see through walls.

When at a higher FoV, the player's neck portion of the dive suit will sometimes appear on screen. The scuba mask graphic will also shrink and become cut off from the screen edge. There are separate toggles for both of these fixes.

When you save your settings, they will apply and will save to a mod folder in the usual appdata location. This will not impact your existing saved games.

INSTALL:

*** The mod manager will install UE4SS automatically and extend the FoV slider, but it will not put the custom menu files in the proper location. I will look into if I can fix this at a later time. ***

1) You must install UE4SS to your game for the extra options and menu to work. If you only want the FoV extended, you can skip UE4SS, moving on to step 2. You can find instructions for that elsewhere. The installers can be found here. I recommend the latest version that isn't experimental. You can find the download you need under the "Assets" toggle at the bottom of any post on that page. DO NOT use the zDev version unless you want bad performance!

2) Extract the folder from the Camera Utilities v2 archive. You should now have a folder with a .PAK, .UCAS, and UTOC file in it, as well as a "LogicMods" folder.

3) Place the entire contents of the Paks folder (LogicMods folder, three files) folder into your game's existing Paks folder. This folder is generally found here: ~Steam\steamapps\common\Subnautica2\Subnautica2\Content\Paks. Placing the folders in the UE4SS mods folder will not work, as this is not a UE4SS mod, but rather an Unreal blueprint mod we are using UE4SS to load.

4) Launch the game, load a save, and press backslash ( \ ) to open the menu. Set your desired settings and click save. Press backslash again to close the menu. The native FoV slider should now also go as high as 140.

UNINSTALL:

1) Simply delete the files we added prior.

2) To remove your save, find the normal save game location. On Steam, this is usually %localappdata%\Subnautica2\Saved\SaveGames. There should be a "Mods" folder present. Delete CameraUtilities.sav from this folder. This will restore the default settings if you keep using the mod.
