Description
Download: The Living Valley
What if Pelican Town felt a little more alive every day?
The Living Valley keeps the cozy vanilla feeling but adds a living world layer. Villagers react more naturally, requests change over time, market prices move with town activity, and the newspaper reflects what is happening around you.
The Living Valley 1.1.0 is out.
The big one this time is a menu. Click the brain button in the corner of the screen and every part of the mod is there as a tile: the Market, today's paper, the request board, your farmhands, the AI settings and a new Settings page. You no longer need to remember H, J, K and L, which also means the mod is finally playable on a phone or a controller. A red dot on a tile tells you there's an unread paper or open requests waiting. If you'd rather keep the screen clear, hide the button and it moves into the game's Esc menu instead.
Settings now live inside the game too. Every option has a short explanation, changes apply when you press Save, and you can rebind hotkeys by clicking them. Generic Mod Config Menu still works for this release, but you don't need it anymore.
Pick your own AI. Player2 is still the default. You can now switch to OpenRouter with your own API key, or run villagers on a model on your own PC through LM Studio or Ollama. The Test button checks the connection before you commit: it validates an OpenRouter key, or finds the models on your local server and fills in the name for you. With OpenRouter or a local model the whole newspaper is AI-written now, not just the headline.

Compatibility
The Living Valley is designed to be additive, preserving the core tone and pacing of vanilla Stardew Valley while layering on new systems.
While the mod is compatible with most popular expansions and custom NPCs, please keep the following in mind:
- Broad Support: The mod functions alongside major expansions (like Stardew Valley Expanded) and most custom NPC additions.
- NPC Lore & Dialogue: Custom NPC lore is not guaranteed to be automatically recognized by the living conversation system.
- Portrait Emotion Sync: Live portrait emotion synchronization may not work out-of-the-box for non-vanilla characters.
- Manual Patching: To ensure full lore integration and portrait syncing for custom content, users or authors will need to apply patches manually.
