Stardew Valley Smart Horses

Tired of having to dismount your horse every time you need to do literally anything? It feels like many people end up not using their horse because of that. Smart Horses is a Stardew Valley SMAPI mod that aims to solve all of those issues and more, so you can feel good bringing your horse everywhere you go!

Things you can do without dismounting:

• Forage items and harvest your plants
• Feed materials into machines and collect its products
• Shake a tree or a bush
• Open and organise your chests
• Read the town bulletin and accept quests
• Use a mine cart and bring your horse with you (but only to places your horse can enter)

Other features:

• Automatically mounts your horse if it's next to you when you enter an area - convenient after cutscenes or leaving caves/mines
• Only dismount by using the "use tool" button, so you can press and hold the action key to interact with multiple items as you ride past them
• Makes the horse "thinner" so it fits through doorways and other places your farmer can fit through
• Can disable most of the features above individually from the config in case there's a cross-mod incompatibility

Device Compatibility

• Tested with Stardew Valley 1.6 and SMAPI 4.5.2 on Linux/Mac/Windows/Cinderbox Android with Windows build
• Not yet tested on native Android app (testers welcome)
• Works with keyboard, mouse, and most gamepads
• Not yet tested on touchscreen inputs (testers welcome)

Cross-Mod Compatibility

• Works with expansion mods like SVE, Ridgeside, East Scarp, Sunberry, Visit Mount Vapius, etc
• Works with Integrated Minecarts and PolyCarts (...and should be 100% compatible with other mods adding minecarts the same way)
• Works with Tractor (including auto-mounting a nearby tractor when changing maps, or interacting with things the tractor can't usually interact with, like bulletin boards, minecarts and chests)
• Works with Horse Follows You (note that "Horse Follows You" makes the horse appears near you every time you change maps, which then chains into this mod's auto-mounting. If it bothers you, you can turn off the auto-mount in the config)
• Works with Horse Overhaul, Horse Squeeze and Pony Weight Loss Program (will automatically disable "Thin Horse" in Smart Horses since these mods also do it. You can manually turn off "Thin Horse" in Smart Horses config too if needed)
• Works with Yet Another Jump Mod (presumably will work with other jump mods too)
• Works with Secretariat (presumably will work with other faster horse mods)
• Works with standalone horse texture replacement mods (I tested with Chocobo Valley)
• Works with Custom Mounts mods (I tested with Maggs Dire Wolf)

Please report any cross-mod issues you find - I will try to fix them as soon as possible.


Installation

Follow the usual installation procedure for SMAPI mods:

• Install SMAPI
• Download the latest release of this mod and unzip it into the `Mods` directory
• Run the game using SMAPI
