Let me introduce you to my build of the week: “The Pottery”!

In the Middle Ages, some trades might seem insignificant, and often were, but they could also be a source of great profit! Construction trades were in high demand, and a mason or carpenter could make a very comfortable living from this activity! Someone skilled in this field could always find work and was guaranteed a good living, as long as the work was well done and the worker knew how to find contracts.

However, this could also depend on where you lived. For example, it was easier to make a comfortable living as a potter in the city than in the countryside, where there were of course fewer people and where people were more inclined to keep, repair, and make things themselves than in the cities.

In cities, there was no competition between shops of the same type located close to each other, so there were entire neighborhoods of bakeries, butchers, etc. Some neighborhoods still retain their names based on this today. Shops were often attached to the owners' houses, or were located on the ground floor of the dwelling when it was a street with closely packed houses.

In any case, a potter who knew his craft could build a reputation and obtain orders from the bourgeoisie and even the church, which at the time represented a certain prestige and proof of skill.

Even though social hierarchy prevailed (no matter how wealthy he might be, a commoner remained a commoner), it was possible to make a decent living as a potter.

It's very easy to get this construction in your game, just follow these instructions:

• Download the folder by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page.

• Open the folder and put everything it contains in the ‘Tray’ folder in your game, here's where to find it:

• That's it! You can start your game and enjoy the terrain you'll find in your library ;-)

Je vous présente ma construction de la semaine : "The Pottery" !

Au moyen âge, certains métiers pouvaient paraître anodin et l'étaient souvent mais pouvaient aussi s'avérer source de grand profits ! Les métiers de chantier étaient très demandés et un maçon ou un charpentier pouvait vivre très aisément grâce à cette activité ! Une personne douée dans son travail dans ce domaine trouvait toujours du boulot et avait la garantie de bien vivre, du moment que le travail était bien fait et le travailleur savait trouver des contrats.

Toutefois, cela pouvait aussi dépendre de l'endroit où on vivait. Ainsi, il était plus facile de vivre aisément du métier de potier en ville qu'à la campagne, où il y avait bien sur moins de monde et où on a avait plus tendance à conserver, réparer et faire soit même que dans le cités.

Dans les villes, il n'y avait pas d'esprit de concurrence au niveau de la distance entre deux boutiques du même genre, ainsi on avait des quartiers entiers de boulangerie, de boucherie etc... Certains quartiers conservent d'ailleurs encore aujourd'hui leur nom par rapport à ça. Les commerces étaient souvent accolés aux maisons des propriétaires, ou se trouvaient au rez de chaussée du logement quand il s'agissait de rue aux maisons serrées.

Quoi qu'il en soit, un potier qui connaissait son métier pouvait se faire une réputation et obtenir des commandes de la part de bourgeois et même de l'église, ce qui à l'époque représentait un certain prestige et une preuve de savoir faire.

Même si la hiérarchie sociale prédominait ( aussi aisé pouvait-il être, un roturier restait un roturier ), on pouvait donc vivre décemment du métier de potier.

• Télécharger le dossier en cliquant sur le lien en bas de cette page

• Ouvrez le dossier et mettez tout ce qu'il contient dans le dossier "Tray" de votre jeu, voici l'endroit où le trouver :

• Voila ! Vous pouvez lancer votre jeu et profiter du terrain que vous trouverez dans votre bibliothèque, en jeu ;-)
