When Realm of Magic brought Spellcasters into the game, it gave them three levels of special Bloodlines that mean later generations of the same Occult will have more potent benefits than the earlier ones, encouraging generational gameplay as well as providing a reason to have more Spellcasters. However, Vampires, an older Occult, had no such system in place, and unlike Spellcasters who typically multiply by having biological children, Vampires can increase their numbers by turning other Sims into Vampires, which does not consider that kind of inheritance regardless.
This mod adds an equivalent to Spellcaster Bloodlines, but for Vampires who are turned.by other Vampires. It uses the game's pre-existing Master and Offspring relationships to detect and thus transfer the appropriate Bloodline to new Vampires your Sims turn, and includes a limited framework to enable pre-existing Vampires to have their Bloodlines assigned.
Following the levels of Spellcaster Bloodlines perks to be as faithful as possible to the trend the game set despite these being for a different Occult, the benefits of each Bloodline level are as follows:
Weak Vampiric Bloodline:
- Vampire XP gained 10% faster
- Vampire Energy restored 10% faster
- Thirst decays 10% slower
- Sunlight Exposure goes down 10% slower
Strong Vampiric Bloodline:
- Vampire XP gained 20% faster
- Vampire Energy restored 20% faster
- Thirst decays 20% slower
- Sunlight Exposure goes down 20% slower
Ancient Vampiric Bloodline:
- Vampire XP gained 30% faster
- Vampire Energy restored 30% faster
- Thirst decays 30% slower
- Sunlight Exposure goes down 50% slower
Bloodlines for Newly Turned Vampires:
If a Vampire turns another Sim into a Vampire after this mod has been installed, the transference of Bloodlines will happen automatically as the turning interaction finishes.
- Vampire with no bloodline makes Weak Vampiric Bloodline Vampires
- Weak Vampiric Bloodline Vampire makes Strong Vampiric Bloodline Vampires
- Strong Vampiric Bloodline Vampire makes Ancient Vampiric Bloodline Vampires
- Ancient Vampiric Bloodline Vampires make more Ancient Vampiric Bloodline Vampires from then on
Thus, if you intend to only bother with Vampires that will be turned after installation, there is no additional set-up work required.
If you want pre-existing Vampires to have their Bloodlines assigned:
It is to be understood that the one who turns another Sim will be regarded by the game as having the relationship bit of Master, and the one who is turned will be recognized by them as Offspring.
The transference of Bloodlines absolutely relies on these relations being clear. This is important to understand how to make it apply to Sims to pre-existing Vampires, especially if there are a lot of them.
You need to have at least one Vampire in the save who has no Sim they consider their Master. All Vampires "descending" (via conversion) from this Vampire could be auto-assigned their Bloodlines. It has to be this way to guarantee no Bloodlines will be assigned at an erroneous level if younger Vampires interact with their peers before interacting with their Master.
The game has a habit of not counting objectives for Sims not in the currently active household, so it will not run on pre-existing Vampires without a Master that are not on the active household. All other levels of the Bloodlines can run regardless of whether the Vampire Sim is active or not. If the cycle is not starting when it should, it might likely be because the Vampire without a Master has not been played in order for the initial test to trigger.
To simplify this, let us say Vampire-A was made in Create-A-Sim, or was a premade Townie, or became a Vampire in a way that means they have no Sim whom their relations regard as Master. This is the sort of Sim you need, because all Vampires without an assigned Master start off automatically capable of creating Weak Vampiric Bloodline Vampires, even retroactively. If this Master-less Vampire-A interacts (only requires proximity but interaction is the easiest way to guarantee proximity) with their Offspring, Vampire-B, Vampire-B will indeed obtain the Weak Vampiric Bloodline in that moment.
Let's say Vampire-B had an Offspring of their own, Vampire-C. In the same vein as before, if Vampire-B interacts with Vampire-C after having their own Bloodline assigned, then Vampire-C will receive the Strong Vampiric Bloodline trait, and so on.
No Vampire can pass on a Bloodline until it is either A) clear that they should be the start of the line by their lack of anyone the game recognizes as their Master, or B) they have received their appropriate Bloodline from interacting with their Master, and that Master was already capable of passing on a Bloodline.
Hence why this functionality is considered to be limited, as many factors in Vampire gameplay prior to the mod being installed could make it impossible for it to apply retroactively.
If you have a long-term save without original Vampires, or a particular Vampire or set of Vampires for whom meeting these conditions would be impossible, you are welcome to use any other mod or cheat to add them in at your own risk. Here are the trait names to add them manually by your tool or cheat of choice:
baniduhaine:trait_WeakVampiricBloodline_forOffspring
baniduhaine:trait_StrongVampiricBloodline_forOffspring
baniduhaine:trait_AncientVampiricBloodline_forOffspring
Be aware that if you cheat to add/remove these traits on a Sim, your Sim might not be able to gain these without cheats because as far as the mod is concerned, they had already been assigned a Bloodline. So be careful!

NOTE
BetterExceptions can detect a null value within the broadcasters. That's the default value and the in-game Vampire Mind Power broadcasters also have it null. Should be fine.
