Better Tattoo Clients

Tired of tending your Tattoo Table while potential clients stand around, socialize, and do everything except actually request a tattoo?

Better Tattoo Clients adjusts the customer-request behavior introduced with The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies to make NPCs more active and reliable tattoo clients.

What This Mod Does

When a Tattoo Table is being tended, the vanilla game periodically sends out a customer ping that can direct an eligible nearby NPC to request tattoo services.

The problem is that after this customer ping occurs, the game normally places the interaction responsible for finding another client on a relatively long cooldown. This can leave tattoo artists tending their table for quite a while without another customer stepping forward.

This mod adjusts that behavior by:

• Reducing the wait between tattoo customer request opportunities, allowing the game to look for another eligible client more frequently.
• Changing the normal customer-ping cooldown from approximately 15–20 Sim minutes to 5–10 Sim minutes.
• Keeping EA's existing tattoo-request system intact rather than creating a new custom customer system.
• Preserving the game's normal eligibility checks for potential tattoo clients.
• Keeping the existing protections that prevent Sims who are already involved in tattoo services from immediately being selected again.
• Keeping EA's existing recent-customer cooldown intact.
• Not forcing every nearby Sim to request a tattoo. Only Sims who pass the game's normal eligibility requirements can be selected.

The goal is simply to make a tended Tattoo Table feel more active and make tattoo clients behave more like actual customers.

What This Mod Does NOT Do

This mod does not add new tattoo interactions, tattoo designs, body locations, objects, careers, or custom business systems.

It also does not change:

• Tattoo prices
• Tattoo quality
• Tattooing skill gain
• Tattoo service duration
• Tattoo design availability
• Tattoo body placement
• Tattoo unlock requirements
• The number of tattoos a Sim can receive
• The actual tattoo service interactions
• EA's existing client eligibility requirements
• EA's recent tattoo customer cooldown

It does not make every customer immediately request a tattoo or turn the Tattoo Table into a constant line of Sims.

Instead, it modifies the existing Tattoo Table tending and customer-request tuning so the game's normal customer ping can become available more frequently.

How It Works

In the vanilla game, tending a Tattoo Table activates EA's existing customer-ping system.

When that system finds an eligible nearby NPC, the game can push the NPC to request a tattoo from the available tattoo artist.

After the customer-ping interaction runs, vanilla tuning normally prevents it from being selected again for approximately 15–20 Sim minutes.

Better Tattoo Clients reduces that lockout to 5–10 Sim minutes.

This means the game gets another opportunity to find an eligible tattoo client sooner while still using EA's original system, tests, interactions, and safeguards.

Small Business Use

This mod was created primarily to improve the experience of running a tattoo-focused Small Business with Businesses & Hobbies.

However, the tuning being modified is connected directly to a tended Tattoo Table, rather than exclusively to the Small Business "Get Tattooed" activity.

Because of this, the improved customer-request frequency can apply whenever the game's normal Tattoo Table tending system is active and eligible NPCs are nearby.

Requirements

The Sims 4: Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack is required.

This mod modifies the Tattoo Table and tattoo service system introduced with this pack and has no purpose without it.

Installation

Place the .package file in:

Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods

Make sure Custom Content and Mods are enabled in your game settings.

No script file is required.

No XML Injector is required.

Compatibility

Better Tattoo Clients is a non-scripted tuning mod.

Because it overrides existing game tuning, it may conflict with another mod that alters the same Tattoo Table tending or customer-broadcaster behavior.

In particular, another mod may conflict if it changes the frequency, cooldown, weighting, or behavior of the Tattoo Table customer-ping system.

If another mod modifies the same tuning resource, I recommend using only one.

Important Note

This mod is intended to improve the slow or inconsistent tattoo-client behavior I've experienced when using tended Tattoo Tables, particularly when an available tattoo artist is waiting for customers but NPCs take a long time to request another service.

It does not claim to repair every possible EA bug involving tattoo services, Small Businesses, routing, customers, or the Tattoo Table.

The purpose is simply to make the existing tattoo customer system more active and responsive while preserving normal gameplay.
