Better Small Business Shoppers

Tired of opening your Small Business only for customers to hang around, socialize, browse endlessly, and seemingly forget that they're supposed to buy something?

Better Small Business Shoppers adjusts the autonomous shopping behavior introduced with The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies to make customers more active and reliable shoppers.

What This Mod Does

In the vanilla game, Small Business customers have a cooldown between autonomous purchase attempts. They can also consider an item for sale and ultimately decide not to purchase it. In some businesses, this can result in sales becoming extremely slow or seemingly stopping altogether.

This mod adjusts that behavior by:

• Reducing the wait between autonomous shopping attempts, allowing customers to consider items for purchase more frequently.
• Increasing the likelihood that a customer will actually purchase an item after considering it.
• Keeping the normal Small Business shopping system intact, including EA's existing considerations for things such as item price, markup, business rank, relationships, and other purchasing modifiers.
• Not guaranteeing every purchase. Customers can still browse without buying, so running a business doesn't become an automatic money machine.

The goal is simply to make customers behave more like actual customers.

What This Mod Does NOT Do

This mod does not add new interactions, objects, display cases, or custom shopping systems. It does not force customers to immediately purchase merchandise or guarantee that every customer will buy something.

Instead, it modifies the existing Small Business customer autonomy and purchase-deliberation tuning.

Requirements

The Sims 4: Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack is required.

This mod specifically modifies the Small Business shopping system introduced with this pack and has no purpose without it.

Installation

Place the .package file in:

Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods

Make sure Custom Content and Mods are enabled in your game settings.

No script file is required.

Compatibility

Because this is a tuning mod, it may conflict with other mods that alter the same Small Business autonomous shopping or customer purchase behavior.

If another mod changes Small Business customer shopping frequency, purchase deliberation, or the autonomous purchase cooldown, I recommend using only one.

Important Note

This mod is intended to improve the inconsistent shopping behavior I've experienced with Small Businesses, particularly when customers initially purchase merchandise normally but sales later become extremely infrequent.

It does not claim to repair every possible EA bug affecting Small Businesses or retail displays. The purpose is to make the existing customer shopping system more active and reliable while still preserving normal gameplay.
