What's new

Quest Log 1.2.0

A new look. The window has been rebuilt so it reads like part of the game.

New

  • The list and the quest sit side by side. Pick a quest on the left and read it on the right. The list now uses the full height of the window, and the quest you picked stays put while you scroll.

  • Quest card. The selected quest shows its title with the game's own quest underline, tags for main or side quest, in progress or not started, and the region. Below those: the description, where to go, the steps as checkboxes, and what it counts toward.

  • A compass on every quest you have not finished. A small needle points the way, with the direction and distance written out ("South-west / 234 m").

  • Distance for quests you have not started. The list and the card now tell you which way and how far a not-started quest is, not just the ones in progress.

  • Grouping buttons. "By region" and "By type" sit next to the tabs. Region grouping is now the default, and clicking the lit button again turns grouping off. Quests with no region go under "Anywhere".

  • Tabs show their counts, and the selected tab is marked with a gold underline.

  • The window scales to your screen, taking up most of it like the game's own menus, and shrinks to fit on smaller screens.

  • An overall progress bar in the corner: completed out of the total.

  • Real quest steps. The card now shows a quest's steps in the game's own words: the ones behind you ticked, the one you are on boxed with a compass and distance, and "step 7 of 11" in the list. Steps after the current one stay hidden so nothing is spoiled; SHOW NEXT STEPS at the bottom reveals them. Finished quests show their whole story ticked. The "steps" in 1.1 were the quest scripts' internal switches ("Triggered entry volume"), which were always ticked and never showed what was left.

  • How it begins. A quest you have not started shows its first step, which usually names who to talk to, and the distance now points at that person rather than whichever quest spot is nearest.

  • Tutorial and Main story groups, first in the list and in play order: the tutorial as the game runs it, then Dragon Slayer, Withering Heights, Black Knight Fortress, Icthlarin's Little Helper and Regicide.

  • TRACK button for side quests in progress, the same as "Track Secondary Quest" on the map.

Changed

  • The total is now 48, and reaching it is possible. Six quests from an unused second tutorial were listed and could never be done, so a finished player was stuck at 48 of 54.
  • Tutorial chapters that share a name are called "First Steps, part 1" and "part 2" instead of "(2 of 4)".
  • The Umbral Sands tribe tasks are listed under Umbral Sands. They used to fall under "Anywhere".
  • The tutorial line reads "Tutorial: this quest takes it to 17%", and boss quests say which boss they complete.
  • The compass has a small N at the top: it points like the map, north up.
  • The window uses the game's own display font for tabs, headings and the quest title.
  • The "Counts toward" bar stays empty until the quest is done. It used to draw at its "when done" value, which looked like progress already made.
  • SET WAYPOINT and CLOSE now sit together at the bottom, in bright gold and cream.
  • Each tab and grouping keeps its list, so switching between them no longer rebuilds everything each time. This fixes a crash that could happen after switching tabs many times in one sitting.

Fixed

  • With region grouping on, quests with no region were listed under a heading with no name.
  • The window left an empty strip under the CLOSE button.

Prefer the old plain list? Set GroupBy = status in config.txt, or pick "status" under Group by in Mod Menu.
