Gunsilnger

Craft flintlock pistols across eight material tiers, choose powerful Special Power-driven aimed shots or stamina-fuelled Quick Draw combat, and wield named Ancestral weapons. Includes dedicated Ball Bearings, crafting recipes.
GUNSLINGER
Black powder. Ball bearings. Two ways to make your mark.

Gunslinger adds a craftable flintlock weapon family to RuneScape: Dragonwilds, with material-tier progression, distinctive Ancestral pistols, dedicated ammunition, and a choice between deliberate aimed shots and fast Quick Draw combat.

Built for single-player, co-op, and dedicated-server play through RuneSchema. Multiplayer requires matching mod packages on the server and every client.

TWO PISTOL STYLES

Flintlock — aim, commit, fire
The standard flintlock is the higher-damage option. Hold right mouse to aim and zoom; release right mouse to fire. The pistol rises during the firing animation, rather than remaining raised throughout the zoom. Shots use Special Power, with a reload/cooldown between attacks and longbow-style launch range.

  • Right mouse: hold to aim; release to fire.
  • Left mouse: kick.
  • Middle mouse: right-hand punch.
  • 25 Special Power per shot.
  • Equipping the aimed flintlock doubles Special Power regeneration. Qualifying ranged kills can restore a chunk of Special Power.

Quick Draw — speed at a stamina cost
Quick Draw pistols trade damage and range for immediate firing. They retain blocking, spend stamina instead of Special Power, and have no reload gate.

  • Left mouse: fire.
  • Right mouse: block.
  • Middle mouse: punch.
  • 40 stamina per shot.
  • Lower damage than the same-tier aimed flintlock, with crossbow-derived range.

The off-hand powder bag is part of the pistol equipment setup; these are not dual-pistol weapons.

PROGRESSION & ANCESTRAL WEAPONS

Craft your way through Bronze, Blurite, Iron, Steel, Black, Mithril, Adamant, and Rune flintlocks. Both aimed and Quick Draw lines let you choose a combat style without abandoning material progression.

The named Ancestral collection includes:

  • Nullifier — an electrical-themed double-barrel flintlock; pair it with storm-themed ball bearings.
  • CHP's Regret — a poison-themed pistol; pair it with poison ball bearings.
  • Jonesy — a fire-themed Collier revolver.
  • Gunslinger — an Ancestral aimed showpiece for deliberate, powerful shots.

Enchanted ammunition carries the native-derived special effects. A weapon's theme is not a promise that every ordinary ball bearing applies that elemental status.

BALL BEARINGS, NOT ARROWS

Flintlocks use Ball Bearings, stored in the Ammo inventory channel. The ammunition guard separates them from the native ranged weapons: flintlocks reject arrows and bolts, while crossbows reject ball bearings.

Ball Bearings use the Ballistic Damage label. Their positive ammunition damage bonus is 3% higher than the equivalent bolt's bonus; this is not a flat 3% increase to the entire weapon shot.

Gun reports, a recoil grunt, a brief muzzle spark/flash, and smoke complete the black-powder feel. The firing effects are short-lived rather than a persistent idle flame.

CRAFTING

The crafting chain uses familiar stations:

  • Crafting Table — pistol frames and gunpowder.
  • Furnace — barrels.
  • Fletching Bench — completed pistols and ball bearings.

Gunpowder combines Iron Salvage, Black Salvage, and Rune Essence. Material-tier components lead into the finished weapons, while themed runes are used for the named Ancestral collection.

The complete player guide covers 53 recipes, station requirements, ammunition, controls, progression, and the differences between aimed and Quick Draw pistols. Refer to the guide included with the complete package for ingredient quantities and recipe outputs.

REQUIREMENTS & INSTALLATION

Requires RuneSchema and its UE4SS setup for RuneScape: Dragonwilds.

  • Close the game and stop the dedicated server before updating.
  • Back up any existing Flintlocks folder outside the active RuneSchema mods directory.
  • Install the package's Flintlocks folder into:
    RSDragonwilds/Binaries/Win64/ue4ss/Mods/RuneSchema/mods/Flintlocks
  • Replace the old folder completely; do not overlay versions. Do not keep older Flintlocks_Server_P files alongside the shared Flintlocks_P package.
  • Install the same release on every multiplayer client, then restart the server and game.

Keep each .pak, .ucas, and .utoc trio together. Do not mix files from different releases.

SHARED CLIENT / SERVER
Headless servers skip client-only audio, visual effects, and cosmetic animation notifications, while authoritative combat and ammunition behavior remain on the server.

If reporting a problem, include your package name, RuneSchema version, whether the session is single-player/co-op/dedicated, and the relevant client/server logs. In particular, report ammunition changing after weapon swaps, ranged sounds reverting, or attacks failing to register.
