ANIMAL HUSBANDRY
Not all heroes wear capes, some have tails.
Gielinor's farm animals have been waiting for someone to look after them. Tame a wild sheep, cow, chicken or terrorbird with the new Animal Lead, bring it home, and give it a life: it wanders your base, drinks from a trough, eats from a feeder, answers to its own name, and gives you fleece, feathers, milk and eggs every in-game day. Want to grow the herd? Use Animal Pheromones on two well-cared-for animals of the same kind and a baby is born. Build an expansive pasture, or just keep a chicken named Colonel Cluck by the door. It's your farm fam.
What you can do
- Tame four kinds of animal Hit a wild sheep, cow, chicken or terrorbird with the Animal Lead and it follows you like a loyal companion. Bring up to 6 along at a time.
- Give them a home Use the Lead's special attack where you want the animals to live. They settle there and wander around the spot in a natural, lively way: pausing, grazing, shuffling about, wandering across the pasture, and sometimes calling out. Babies stay close to the grown-ups.
- A big herd is fine Settled animals are saved with your world and only appear while a player is nearby, so you can keep a large number of them without slowing the game down.
- Name them The Name Tag opens a small window where you rename an animal, set how far it wanders (0 = it stands still) and move its home.
- Look after them Fill a Water Trough (a watering can, or the rain) and the Bird and Livestock Feeders with feed. A small icon on each animal's health bar shows what it needs: water, food, or a heart when it is satisfied.
- Harvest every day Use the Shears or the Collection Bucket near your satisfied animals, once per in-game day per animal and tool.
- Raise a family Use Animal Pheromones near two satisfied grown-ups of the same kind and a baby is born.
- Milk and milk drinks Collect Cow's Milk from your cows, then cook it into Redberry Milk or Milk Tea. All three are drinks that lower the stamina cost of your attacks, each with its own extra perk.
- Double your harvest The Ring of Husbandry doubles everything you gather from your animals while you wear it.
Animal Output/Intake
- Shears: sheep 1 Fleece, chicken 1 Feathers, terrorbird 3 Feathers

- Water: all animals require water from a Water Trough

- Build a Water Trough and a Feeder close by, and fill them.
- Craft Shears or a Collection Bucket and gather from your satisfied animals once a day.
- Craft a Name Tag to name them and set how far they wander. Craft Animal Pheromones if you want babies.
Requirements
- RuneScape Dragonwilds
- UE4SS for RSDragonwilds, installed and working.
- RuneSchema, installed and enabled. Tested with 0.8.0.0. Animal Husbandry is a RuneSchema mod and does nothing without it.
Installation
- Close the game.
- Extract the AnimalHusbandry folder from the download into <gamefolder>\RSDragonwilds\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\RuneSchema\mods\ and keep the whole folder together. Do not copy anything into Content\Paks.
- Check that ...\RuneSchema\mods\runeschema.txt contains the line AnimalHusbandry : 1 (RuneSchema normally adds it itself).
- Start the game, load your world and open the Crafting Table: the "Animal Husbandry" tab holds the recipes.
Updating from 1.0.0: close the game, back up your saves, and replace the AnimalHusbandry folder. Animals placed with the 1.0.0 build menu stay as they are.
Good to know
- Your game saves are never touched. The mod adds nothing to your character save. Settled animals, their names, homes and trough water are kept in the mod's own data folder, one file per world. Back that folder up with your saves.
- If you remove the mod, RuneSchema removes the placed troughs, feeders and decorative animals the next time you load that world and keeps a backup copy of the world save. Everything else loads normally. Always back up your saves before installing, updating or removing any mod.
- Settled animals are only present while a player is within about 70 metres of their home.
- A trough and feeders must be within the animals' reach (their wander radius plus about 10 metres) to count.
- The mod's recipes and build pieces are in their own "Animal Husbandry" tabs and section, not in the game's Companions section or Rings tab. This is a limit of how RuneSchema adds menu sections.
- After a game update the mod may need an updated version. Back up your world before loading it with this mod after an update.
- Multiplayer, dedicated servers, Epic and Game Pass are untested. The host runs the animals, and UE4SS scripts are reported not to run on Linux dedicated servers.
- It does not replace any game files or the game's build-menu list, so it should not conflict with other mods. It uses one light timer that runs a few times a second.

RuneSchema and its authors make the framework that registers the items, recipes and pieces. RuneScape: Dragonwilds, its models, animations, sounds and icons belong to Jagex. This is an unofficial fan mod.
