Misplaced | a backrooms horror map [Pre-Release v8.4] VS mode improvement update part I April 2nd 2025

  • New content

    -Translated advancements (now in Spanish and French)
    - Added Spanish support to VS mode and multiplayer lobby

  • Updated:

    - Updated splash text "Beta" to "Pre-Release"
    - "InfiniteXgg" hologram is now not visible through walls
    - Nerfed stamina drain on campaign mode: every 40 cm → every 60 cm
    - Nerfed mall puzzle (now has a range bewteen 893..896)
    - Improved campaign mode Neutral ending SFX and VFX
    - Updated flashlight texture and model
    - Campaign mode Smiler no longer requires OptiFine to be seen
    - Changed campaign mode smilers summoning system
    - Added unique interactions on campaign mode post game + skip for final puzzles
    - Added a death counter on campaign mode after reseting the campaign
    - Updated most of Bacteria's animations (game_over, chase, chase_run, exmple)
    - Updated most of Impersonator animations (kill, twitching)


  • Multiplayer updates:

    - (VS mode map 2) modifiers no longer shows on the timer bossbar
    - (VS mode map 2) Peripheral ability: Bend reality now notifies the teleported player
    - (VHS mode) jump stamina drain reduced: 400 minimum → 500 minimum
    - (Sandbox mode) Added new animations to smilers when attacking
    - (Sandbox mode) Updated smiler jumpscare animation

  • Bug Fixes:

    - Fixed language selection not playing sounds on global settings
    - Added beyond the threshold translated message (ultimate item)
    - Fixed players being able to die when entering the backrooms for the first time
    - Fixed smiler spawning randomly on the lobby (behind a wall)
    - Fixed a small dialogue that leads to hints about lore
    - Fixed item frames not loading correctly when switching languages
    - Fixed players being able to softlock themselves on campaign mode after completing the mall puzzle
    - Fixed players being able to destroy debug disk items
    - Fixed flashlight not updating light blocks (again)

    [Multiplayer bug fixes]

    - (VS mode) Fixed bacteria not showing when using decoder item
    - (VS mode) Fixed bacteria alignment with the player
    - (VS mode) Fixed map 2 modifier night mode not applying peripheral cooldown reduction on item descriptions
    - (VS mode) Fixed bacteria being able to get Power supply modules on their offhand
    - (VHS mode) Fixed valve puzzle not spawning correctly
