Better banner
A lot of people create banner with cool pattern in vanilla minecraft, but thats not the limit. Every single pattern can be changed with a resource pack. Now I'm going to show you some examples of what you can do with a banner.

1) Problems with banner and Resource Packs
There are some problems with a banner and resource packs, e.g. if you put a colored texture on a pattern or the Banner base, it won't be displayed correctly in Minecraft.

This Problem can be solved by seperating the picture in more than one, based on the color

2) Player Skulls on a Banner
If we now use the trick shown above it's pretty easy to create Player skulls on a banner
a ) Small Skulls
b ) Big Skulls
This is how I created them:
For each color I used a different retextured pattern
3) A Banner with more colors
Another way to customize a banner is using custome colors
Examples:
This is done by retexturing some pattern and combining them
Some of the pattern don't work (e.g border), but others do (e.g. cross)
4) Nearly invisible pattern
Another little thing you can do with resource packs is nearly invisble pattern
They can be created by changing the color of the banner (Custom Banner colors) slightly and then adding a pattern in the orginal color
