Pure NoFog — Changelog
v2 — Minecraft Java Edition 26.3 (resource pack format 97.1)
Fixed
- Fixed fog not being removed when using Sodium. Sodium draws terrain with its own shaders, which ignored this pack, so Sodium users kept terrain fog everywhere (Overworld, Nether, water, lava, effects). The pack now also covers
assets/sodium/shaders/include/fog.glsl.- Fixed for Sodium 0.9.3 for 26.3 (Fabric and NeoForge, alpha.1 and beta.1 — all four builds use the same shader file).
- Fixed Sodium showing a "resource pack may be incompatible" warning for this pack (
"sodium": { "ignored_shaders": ["fog.glsl"] }inpack.mcmeta). - Fixed
README.txt: it now lists supported versions and mods, what the pack removes, what it cannot change, and Sodium setup notes. - Fixed the
pack.mcmetadescription to mention Sodium.
Unchanged
- Vanilla fog removal (
assets/minecraft/shaders/include/fog.glsl) is byte-for-byte identical to the previous release. LICENSE.txtandpack.pngare unchanged (byte-for-byte).- The chunk fade-in animation is kept (vanilla and Sodium).
Verified in-game on Minecraft Java 26.3
- Vanilla: Overworld, Nether, End (including Ender Dragon boss fog), underwater, lava, powder snow, rain/thunder, Blindness, Darkness, and underwater with Improved Transparency enabled.
- Sodium 0.9.3-beta.1 (Fabric): Overworld, Nether, underwater, lava, Blindness.
- All 35 shaders that use fog (vanilla + Sodium) compile with the pack, with no regressions compared to the original files.
Known limitations (not fixable with a resource pack)
- Sodium users must turn OFF
Video Settings > Performance > Use Fog Occlusion. Otherwise Sodium does not draw chunks it considers hidden by fog (under water, in lava, with Blindness/Darkness). - The background behind unrendered areas uses the fog colour (red in the Nether, orange in lava, blue under water, black with Blindness).
- The sky is hidden by the game in lava, powder snow and with Blindness/Darkness, and by Sodium while the camera is in water or lava.
- Not compatible with Embeddium (no release exists for 26.3), OptiFine, or Iris shader packs (shader packs control their own fog).
v1 — Minecraft Java Edition 26.3
- Previous 26.3 release. Removes vanilla fog by overriding
assets/minecraft/shaders/include/fog.glsl.
