Atmospheric Shaders X SimpleClouds
Beta Update – SimpleClouds Blending and Rain Overhaul
Rain and Wet-Surface Upgrades
- Added a full rain atmosphere module with depth aware streaks, wind shear bending, and time based variance
- Introduced screen space ripples and ground splashes tied to SimpleClouds storm intensity
- Added wet surface compositing: puddle gloss, fresnel reflections, ripple overlays, and slow drying transitions
- Implemented horizon tint layers and a shared atmospheric height fade to keep storms visually grounded
SimpleClouds Integration Layer
- Added
sc_bridge.glslto centralize SimpleClouds uniforms, visibility functions, storm factor helpers, and cloud type shading curves - Updated rain, sky, and composite passes to read live SimpleClouds weather state
- Volumetric clouds now scale density, shading, thickness, and falloff with SimpleClouds fade/density/storm inputs
Atmosphere and Visual Enhancements
- Added configurable storm boost, wind driven camera shake, sun scattering arcs, and cloud rim tinting
- Introduced highlight only chromatic grading and altitude based toning
- Added lightning aware flashes and bloom boosts
- Added lens dirt during rain, desert heat haze, micro sky noise, and a polished moon halo
- All features implemented through modular GLSL helpers with dedicated toggles
Cloud Shadows and Lighting
- Added optional cloud shadow casting to
shadow.glsl, ray marching a coarse density volume based on SimpleClouds coverage - Sun shadow maps now darken properly under cloud cover when cloud shadows are enabled
- Corrected world position sampling so SimpleClouds opacity affects shadows consistently
- Increased entity exposure so mobs remain visible under dense canopy and storm conditions
Precipitation Rendering
- Rain and snow particles now inherit sky tint instead of flat white or gray
- Weather pass blends precipitation into the atmospheric color environment for better realism
Volumetric Cloud Stack Improvements
- Updated
mainClouds.glsl,reimaginedClouds.glsl, andunboundClouds.glslto use SimpleClouds density, fade, and storm parameters - Maintains Compatibility with Complementary’s native logic while improving dynamic cloud response
