What is ZakRealms?
ZakRealms is a Minecraft modpack - compiling a wide array of popular mods across a variety of categories: magic, technology, and automation; however its current incarnation focuses heavily on exploration - featuring a large number of extradimensional mods such as Atum, The Betweenlands, Galacticraft and one of its addons, Galaxy Space, along with Witchery. It includes several mods I authored myself, including Mojo-Alchemism, a mod written specifically for the pack which provides a comprehensive unification of crafting and machine recipes across most of the included mods - no more dealing with 7 different varieties of copper ingots and tin ore! Almost every resource that is added by multiple mods will have any recipes that produce it reworked so that only one variety is given - for metals, this means mostly Thermal Foundation ingots/nuggets/blocks.
How is it used?
The ZakRealms modpack is intended for multiplayer use on a private server, and only the client-side utilities are included in the download. You are, however, welcome to download the pack and experience it for yourself in single player, or even host your own server if you like. In order to get an equivalent experience, I recommend grabbing Morpheus server utility for bed-voting, and JourneyMap Server - which will allow you to lock down player radar in JourneyMap.
What is so special about it?
In addition to the aforementioned custom pack-mod, Mojo-Alchemism, this pack includes a couple other self-authored mods that change the experience of the game. Specifically, BoPTweaks adds a minor feature to Biomes O Plenty that allows a player to plant and grow the impressively large Fir Trees that are normally only found in Coniferous Forest biomes during world generation. Also, there is functional "expansion" to Chocohead's Binnie Patcher, which allows Binnie's Mods to be compatible with Forestry 4; this extra feature allows butterflies to be disabled in Forestry without Binnie's Mods crashing the game - this is a feature Chocohead intend's to incorporate into his own mod in time, but for now, only exists in ZakRealms (and other packs that incorporate More Binnie Fixes).
