PERFORMANCE AND OPTIMIZATION
Added PMWeather Optimizations to help improve performance.
Tested and adjusted optimization settings to find the best balance between performance and stability.
Disabled experimental optimization features that caused crashes.
Continued investigating significant FPS drops and stuttering during exploration, including drops from around 165 FPS to as low as 12 FPS.
Performance issues appear to be closely related to the weather system, as the rest of the modpack ran smoothly before these issues appeared.
Testing remains ongoing to determine which weather processes and features are contributing most to the performance drops.
KNOWN ISSUES
FPS drops and severe stuttering may occur while exploring, even on high-end hardware.
Performance can become inconsistent while the weather system is active, and the cause has not yet been fully identified.
Some experimental optimization features can cause crashes and have been disabled to improve stability.
Weather-related crashes and compatibility issues remain a concern, particularly with additional weather simulation mods.
Some issues cannot be fully resolved through configuration changes alone and may require updates from the mod developers.
DEVELOPMENT NOTES
The Weather’s Coming is still an alpha release, and instability remains one of the biggest challenges in development.
I am currently waiting on updates from the mod developers to address remaining performance problems, crashes, and compatibility issues. While I have tested different configurations and adjusted optimization settings, there are still limitations that I cannot reliably fix on my own.
This is the most stable configuration I have been able to achieve so far. The pack is playable, but performance is not yet where I want it to be. Players may experience major FPS drops, stuttering, or occasional crashes depending on their setup and the weather systems being processed.
My priority is to improve stability without sacrificing the severe weather features that make this modpack unique. Until the necessary updates become available, some instability is expected.
Features, configurations, and compatibility may change in future updates as development continues.
