The Weather's Coming is a vanilla-inspired modpack built for players who want a survival experience with actual environmental stakes, without drowning in heavy, game-altering mods. The goal is to preserve that classic Minecraft feel while giving you a real reason to prepare, fortify your base, and pay attention to the sky.

The absolute core of this pack is ProtoManly's Weather, a modern weather system featuring raymarched clouds and storms, localized rain, thunderstorms, squalls, supercells, cyclones, and destructive tornadoes. Unlike vanilla weather, storms develop dynamically and can become a genuine threat to your world. Tornadoes can tear through structures, throw entities, and permanently change the terrain around them.

Because the weather is a legitimate survival threat, you'll need somewhere solid to hunker down. The pack adds plenty of options for making your base feel like an actual home—from Farmer's Delight cooking and kitchen mechanics to Refurbished Furniture for functional furniture and decorations. Smaller quality-of-life additions, such as Double Doors, make everyday survival more convenient without taking away from the vanilla experience.

The Weather's Coming is not a low-spec modpack. ProtoManly's Weather uses raymarched shaders to render its weather systems, and the developer lists an RTX 3060 / RX 6600 XT as the recommended GPU, with a GTX 1650 SUPER / RX 5600 XT listed as the minimum. The mod also simulates substantial environmental and weather systems in addition to rendering them.

Performance is therefore an intentional part of the experience. You can adjust PMWeather's settings to reduce visual quality and improve performance on weaker hardware, but players should expect this pack to demand significantly more from their system than a typical vanilla-plus pack—especially during large storms, heavy weather, and while exploring new terrain. The mod is also still in alpha, meaning performance and weather systems are actively being developed and improved. For example, version 0.16.4 specifically included changes intended to improve 80-tick lag spikes and make chunk ticks faster.

This pack is designed to stay lightweight in terms of gameplay changes while making one thing dramatically more important: the weather. Build smart, keep an eye on the sky, and have somewhere safe to go when the storm comes.

More mods and features are planned for the future, but they will continue to follow the same philosophy: vanilla-friendly, survival-focused, and centered around the environment.

Huge credit and thanks to all of the mod developers whose work makes this project possible.
