The Gweld 0.6.9
What's new
The Gweld 0.6.9
Requires The Gweld Core 0.6.9 (the pack already points at it). A server pack is attached to this file.
Pack changes
New mods
- Punchy - First person animations. Draws your held item and hands in first person. Item grips, walking, using items and the sword block now look much better. Core now requires it.
- Simply Swords adds a large set of new swords and weapons.
- Archers adds bows, crossbows and archery spells.
- Spell Engine and Spell Power Attributes (needed by Archers and Simply Swords) give weapons their own skills.
- Simply Tooltips (needed by Simply Swords) gives item tooltips a new look.
- Support libraries: Fzzy Config, Armor Model API, Bundle API, Ranged Weapon API, Structure Pool API, Kotlin for Forge.
- Modded Swords x Punchy! (resource pack, the Punchy compatibility pack) teaches Better Combat how to hold modded swords. It downloads with the pack but you need to switch it on once in Options, Resource Packs.
- Architectury API updated to 13.0.11.
Controls and settings
- Spell Engine's spell hotbar no longer uses right click. Right click stays with the sword block and parry, and weapon skills sit on their own keys (Options, Controls).
- Better Combat and Punchy are pre-configured to work together. Your hands are visible during swings and there is no flicker at the start of a swing.
- Cold Sweat freezing threshold set to 0 degrees C. Nights in spruce forests no longer freeze you every time.
- ImmediatelyFast
font_atlas_resizingis off. This prevents a crash when you change the language.
Quest book
- New Great Winter chapter, Read Me (Beni Oku) notes for the winter and village raids, and Market item icons.
- Bosses chapter title fixed, English translation complete, new curved layout.
Server pack
- A server pack is now available on this file. Client-only mods (Iris, Sodium, Xaero's maps, JEI, Punchy and others) are left out on purpose, players install them with the client pack.
- Five mods (GlitchCore, Serene Seasons, Sophisticated Storage, Sophisticated Item Actions, TerraBlender) are not bundled because their authors do not allow redistribution. The install script (kur.bat or kur.sh) downloads them from Modrinth, so an internet connection is needed.
- The server and the players must run the same version.
Known notes
- Serene Seasons is the CurseForge version 10.1.0.3. If you notice odd season behavior, tell us.
- Simply Swords and Archers are in the pack but are not yet tied to the Gweld progression or loot. Expect that to come in a later update.
The Gweld Core, changes since 0.6.0
First person is now Punchy (0.6.9)
- Punchy is required and draws the held item and hands in first person. Our own hand system, the hand settings menu (O) and the inspect key (J) are gone.
- Rune animations keep working. They use their own arms while a rune plays, and while flying the first-person hands are Punchy's.
- Sword block and parry now show Punchy's blocking pose. Hold right click with a sword and your arm tilts to the side.
- Better Combat swings: hands are visible, dual-wielded swords swing with both hands, and the start-of-swing glitch (two raw frames and a black silhouette) is fixed.
- On first launch Core turns on the three settings this needs, once, so anything you change later stays as you set it.
The Great Winter
- Omens on days 25, 50, 75 and 90. Each one brings something new: colder nights and morning fog, snowstorms with a warning, wolf packs at night, famine, pricier food and fuel, then snow out of season.
- The snow line moves south with every omen. On day 100 it snows everywhere, and all rain turns to snow for the whole winter.
- Lakes and rivers freeze over where snow falls. Only the surface turns to ice and you can walk on it. Oceans do not freeze. Water next to a light source stays liquid.
- Shelter: a closed room with a lit fire stays warm. Inns are warm too, and wool and fur are cheaper.
- Earthquakes from day 75 leave permanent rifts in the ground.
- Ragnar's Undead Army climbs out of the rifts: soldiers, archers, a banner bearer and the Snow Giant. The army scales with the strongest player's level, and the dead fall apart when the banner falls. Inside villages they only tear down village buildings.
- From day 150 a village the army destroys falls for good: shops closed, no new villagers.
- Winter Essence drops from the dead. It protects your armor inside rifts and can be sold to merchants and innkeepers.
- Weather hint on days 75 and 90. A thaw hook is ready for the final boss.
Shared player level
- Four branches (Health, Endurance, Speed, Power) grow with what you actually do. Your overall level is their average.
- New Shared level tab on the K screen.
- Kill XP depends on the monster's level, which rises with distance from spawn.
- Skill trees reworked. The Warrior tree no longer has health and speed branches.
People and raids
- Bandit night gangs scale with your level and give up the chase after 48 blocks or 20 seconds.
- Village raids are now the game's own raid, with bandits only. The captain drops an Ominous Bottle.
- The militia defends the village during a raid, and each wave grows by half the militia count (up to 6 extra bandits).
- The three runes offered by a Rune Stone stay fixed until you pick one.
- People stop moving while you talk or trade.
Weapons and items
- Equipoise Sword reworked: Greatsword base, new art, Fehu balance strike, 2500 durability, correct first-person pose.
- Steelcutter Katana reworked: Katana base, 10 damage, 90% armor piercing, 10,000 durability.
- Removed for now: Flail, Blowgun and darts, Moon Claw, and the 18 metal and stone shields.
- Fate Stone recipe fixed (it never loaded before).
- Market tiles show the item's own picture.
Fixes
- Fixed a crash when new terrain generated during the Great Winter.
- Fixed a crash when entering a single-player world (a Cold Sweat race that could close the game on join).
- Fixed first-person pose while flying with an item in hand.
- Developer commands are hidden from players. English translation completed.
- Fixed the "Mod simplyswords requires simplytooltips, which is not installed" error at startup. Simply Tooltips is now included in the pack.
