Terra Horizon 1.20.1-1.2.0
What's new
Terra Horizon 1.2.0 (Minecraft 1.20.1, Fabric)
Includes everything from 1.1.4.
Added
- Language support: on first launch the game language follows your system language (English or Traditional Chinese, zh_tw). You can still change it at any time in Options > Language.
- All quests, including the welcome quest, are now available in Traditional Chinese. They switch with the game language; English is the fallback for any other language.
- Traditional Chinese translation resource packs for mod content (items, blocks, GUIs), client only, enabled by default on new installs, in this order (later wins): Traditional Chinese Translation Patch by KuriPaPa, ParaTranslationPack by xMikux, ModsTranslationPack by xMikux. Together with the mods' own files, about 58% of all mod text now has Traditional Chinese (up from about 22%). These packs only contain zh_tw files, so English is unchanged.
- Traditional Chinese names for about 140 mod items, mobs and bosses that appear in quest tasks and rewards but had no translation in the mods or the translation packs (for example the Spelunkery Glowstick, Mythic Metals ingots, Soulslike Weaponry bosses), plus Traditional Chinese loading-screen tips (Tips mod). These are in the Terra Horizon resource pack and only change those names.
- Title screen splash texts in Traditional Chinese when the game language is Traditional Chinese.
- Formations Overworld 1.0.5 and Formations 1.0.4 (library): new overworld structures.
- The Graveyard 4.0.0 with VillagersTradingPlus 1.1.0 (its new dependency): graveyards, crypts and ruins.
- Awesome Dungeon 3.2.0: large dungeons and temples.
- New "Terra Horizon" advancement with its own advancement tab, granted the first time you join a world ("Welcome to Terra Horizon, Adventurer…"). Shows a toast and a chat message, and has built-in English text, so it also reads correctly in server logs and for players without the Terra Horizon resource pack.
Changed
- Quests: no quest is locked any more. Every quest can be started and completed in any order, also before the quests it is connected to; the connecting lines stay as a suggested path. This uses one hidden helper quest that completes by itself a few seconds after you join a world.
- Bosses chapter: every boss quest can now be done at any time; boss quests no longer need the Tier I-IV milestones or any other quest first. Each Tier milestone now completes once all bosses of its tier are defeated and no longer blocks anything. "Boss Chapter Complete" now requires every boss quest in the chapter directly (25 bosses, up from 14). "Lord Soul" (Weapons) no longer requires the Tier III milestone.
- Removed the optional "Build a Landmark" quest (Mastery chapter).
- Dungeon tuning datapack (th_dungeon_tuning): Awesome Dungeon structures and Graveyard ruins can now appear in more biomes, and Awesome Dungeon spacing is reduced (24 / 12) so they are a bit easier to find. The Formations graveyard is turned off (The Graveyard mod already adds graveyards), and the uncommon Formations structures keep at least 5 chunks away from villages. New structures only appear in newly generated chunks.
- Title screen: the splash text is now drawn in front of the Terra Horizon logo, at its bottom-right corner, instead of partly behind it. The button rows were moved so the Options / Quit Game row no longer covers the version and copyright text on smaller windows (for example 1280x720).
- Client memory: enabled ModernFix dynamic resources (block and item models are baked on demand instead of all at startup), matching the Forge pack. In testing this lowered client memory use by about 2-3 GB (Java heap in a world about 3.7 GB to about 2.0 GB). If you see a missing or wrong block or item model, you can turn it off in config/modernfix-mixins.properties (mixin.perf.dynamic_resources=false).
- Traditional Chinese: quest, splash and tip texts were rewritten to read more naturally, and the pack now uses its official Chinese name 地元崛起 (short form 地元). Item, block and mob names and all numbers, requirements and key bindings are unchanged.
- The "Pack version" splash text now shows the current version.
- Explorer's Compass no longer lists formationsoverworld:ice_castle, which cannot be located.
- The BCLib / BetterX mod update screen and welcome screen no longer appear when the game starts.
- The accessibility settings screen no longer appears on first launch.
- Distant Horizons no longer posts warning messages in chat when you join a world, and its built-in auto-updater is turned off. The pack now ships config/DistantHorizons.toml with only these options; Distant Horizons fills in all other settings with its defaults.
Fixed
- Quests: milestone and chapter-summary quests (for example "Boss Chapter Complete" and "Terra Horizon Master") could be completed by just clicking the checkmark. All quests whose only task is a checkmark now count only after all the quests they are connected to are done (32 quests). They stay visible and are not drawn as locked; if you click the checkmark early, the quest completes by itself as soon as the last connected quest is done. All other quests can still be completed in any order.
- New players did not get an FTB Quests book when they first joined a world. They now get one book on their first join (new "Your Quest Book" quest in Getting Started, completed and claimed automatically). It is given once per player; relogging or dying does not give another one.
- Travel chapter: the "Engine and Wheels" quest icon was blank. The icon, the frame / engine / wheel tasks and the wheels in the vehicle reward table now use real Automobility parts; any frame, engine or wheel type completes the tasks.
- Traditional Chinese: the Frostiful tips on the death and loading screens were still in English.
Notes for existing installs
- Existing worlds: milestone quests that were already claimed by clicking the checkmark stay completed.
- Existing worlds: rewards already claimed from "Build a Landmark" are kept; the quest is no longer in the book.
- CurseForge keeps existing config files when updating. If you already have config/bclib/client.json or config/DistantHorizons.toml, the update screen or chat warnings can still appear; you can turn them off in the BCLib and Distant Horizons settings. To get the lower memory use on an existing install, add the line mixin.perf.dynamic_resources=true at the end of config/modernfix-mixins.properties.
- CurseForge keeps your own options.txt when updating. To use Traditional Chinese, pick it in Options > Language and enable the three translation packs in Options > Resource Packs (KuriPaPa lowest, then ParaTranslationPack, then ModsTranslationPack, all below Terra Horizon). The KuriPaPa pack is marked as made for a newer version; it is safe to enable it anyway.
- Servers: update the mods folder (5 new mods), config/ftbquests, config/awesomedungeon_1.properties, config/explorerscompass.json, moonlight-global-datapacks/th_dungeon_tuning and moonlight-global-datapacks/th_welcome from the server pack (see README-SERVER.txt). No translation files are needed on the server.
- When updating, keep the moonlight-global-datapacks folder (it now also contains th_welcome, which adds the Terra Horizon advancement).
- Existing players get the quest book and the Terra Horizon advancement once, the next time they join after the update. Players who already have a quest book will get one more.
- Existing worlds: the new structures only generate in chunks that were not generated before.
Known issues
- Admin /locate of rare Formations structures (e.g. bamboo_hut) can take a long time on some seeds and may trip the server watchdog (max-tick-time); formationsoverworld:ice_castle cannot be located and is hidden from the Explorer's Compass.
- The window title and the FTB Quests menu buttons may stay in English.
- Some mods still have no Traditional Chinese translation and show English (for example most Twigs blocks).
- Tip: in Options > Language you can add Simplified Chinese as a fallback below Traditional Chinese, so mods with only a Simplified Chinese translation show Chinese instead of English.
